Alex matched Wanda glare for glare. He wasn't going to let some woman make him do something. He hadn't let anyone do that for too long to start letting them now.
"It's not going to happen, because I'm not going to lose control." He was completely in control. He could take it or leave it as he chose. He was fine. Completely fine. If he ever got to a point where he thought he couldn't stop, he would go to someone for help, but until then, he would enjoy it while he could.

"Fool!" Wanda felt that she was starting to lose control of herself. "This is not some silly matter that you can walk away from when you please." she hissed. "It will possess you, you will crave it. You will become dependant on it!"
{I will not see you destroy yourself in such a cowardly way.}

Alex was becoming increasingly annoyed as Wanda talked.
"Tell you what, if that ever happens, you'll be the first person I call." His voice was harsh and angry. He was practically seeing red. She was treating him like some kind of child, as if he didn't know the consequences of drinking too much. But he was over his drinking binges. No more. None. Just a simple drink every now and then. And then only if other people were drinking. He had his limits set. He had drawn the line in the sand, and he was determined not to cross it.

His words were harsh and angry. She knew she was pushing him too hard. Maybe he was in control. That was doubtful. People couldn't change overnight.
"When I spoke to you last, you had me promise not to tell anyone of you being weakened."
Wanda threw a towel over her shoulder. She wouldn't look at Havok.
"While that ensures that others will not bother, it does not stop me from worrying about you."

Alex stared at Wanda, his eyes brimmed with anger.
"I've done just fine without people worrying about me," he said, memories of his life after his parents died and Scott was lost to him flooding his mind. He had been alone all that time. Even when Magneto made him an Acolyte, he still remained alone. He had thought that he wasn't, but looking back he had been alone from the very beginning. "I don't need you to start doing it now."

Wanda remembered telling herself the exact same during those years she was alone. But what she didn't allow herself to realize at the time was, she would have given anything to have someone worry about her.
There was no sense in trying to reach Alex. And she would be foolish to keep on arguing with him. This was nothing like arguing with Pietro. At least Pietro listened to her sometimes.
"You have made your choice." she said softly. She turned away and began walking toward the exit.

Alex watched her go, telling himself he didn't care if she did. He had survived long enough by himself, he didn't need anyone. A tiny pang of regret crept into his heart as she left, but he put it down. He didn't need her. He didn't need anyone but himself.
Still, he had just alienated the only person in this entire complex that cared about him in any way.
So what. I do just fine by myself.
He stayed in the training room for several hours, telling himself he needed to get back into shape. He then left the room and the complex. His head was swarming with emotions that needed drowning, and he only knew one thing that could do it.
