“I never seen you tryin’ t’ make me eat. Y’ be more likely t’ steal m’ food, ‘specially if it contains chocolate,” he replied, before pouting exaggeratingly.
“Dat mean y’ don’ love me? Or y’ jus’ not de ‘Mother Hen’ type?”
"Just not the maternal type. My love is pain," Jubilee grinned.
"And the chocolate belongs to me. It is mine. Don't withhold the chocolate; if you people won't let me drink coffee, the least you can do is give me my chocolate."

“All love is pain,” Remy muttered, before forcing a smile back to his face. It quickly became more genuine as Jubilee continued to speak.
“Mais, guess I can’t argue wit’ dat logic. Wouldn’t wan’ y’ t’ go postal on us. Are chocolate withdrawals as bad as nicotine ones?” he asked curiously. “Cause if dat’s de case, I don’ wish dem on nobody.”
"I don't think you want to find out what I'm like with no chocolate," Jubilee said thoughtfully.
She tapped the cards into a neat pile, then handed them to Gambit.
"Your deal."

“Y’ prolly right,” Remy replied, before sitting up and taking the proffered deck of cards. Shuffling them swiftly, he dealt them out and absentmindedly glanced at his own. He had a mishmash of nothing, and very little to work with, but one certain card stared tauntingly back at him. Tossing out the other four cards, he kept the Queen of Hearts alone.
“Let’s see what lady luck has in store fo’ dis hand,” he said, looking up from this card. “Cause so far, not so good.”
Jubilee scanned her hand quickly, then only put out one card. Three of a kind, and she was gambling on getting the card she needed to get the pair.
"Maybe she thinks you're neglecting her."

“Could be. So many ladies, so little time,” Remy replied, sighing dramatically. Raising his eyebrows at Jubilee’s hand, he dealt her a single card before taking four for himself. The Queen of Spades showed up to accompany his ‘Lucky Lady’. But it appeared that she had sold him out, as luck was not on his side.
Laying down his measly pair of queens, Remy shrugged. “An’ dis be her way o’ punishin’ me.”
Jubilee laid down three tens, and the two unrelated cards, smiled slightly.
"Should keep Luck buttered up, Cajun. I've seen some of the stunts you pull..."
She thought about what question she wanted to ask him.
"Who was in your Acolytes? Because, I get this feeling that I was nowhere in the picture...kinda makes me feel wigged."

“Oui, she get me outta a lotta scrapes in de past. Don’ wan’ her t’ start neglectin’ me now,” he said, before frowning slightly at her next question.
“Désolé, p’tite, but dat feelin’ be right,” Remy answered, giving her a slightly apologetic look. “Can’t say I ever met y’ b’fo’, ‘cause I sure I woulda r’membered.”
Bringing his knees up to his chest, Remy wrapped his arms around them, lost in thought.
“De team wasn’t nearly as big as dis one is now. Guess we weren’t de happenin’ side t’ be on den. Dere was only t’ree regular members, an’ a few dat come an’ go. Dere was a femme named Larza. Sweet girl. Reminded me o’ me at times,” he said, grinning as he remembered their conversations at Christmas, and how he had tried to help her with her empathy. “Now it’s lookin’ like she tryin’ t’ kill me here, so I guess sweet ain’ de word no more, oui?”
Shaking his head, he rested his chin on his arms.
“De ot’er one gonna ring a bell, t’ough. Besides Larz an’ me, dere was de metal man himself. Petey was dere. He don’ seemed t’ have changed much, merci Dieu. We had a fire crazy Aussi on de team fo’ a while, but he kinda vanished sometime while I was in de coma or somet’in’,” Remy explained, forgetting that Jubilee had no idea what he was talking about.

"Coma? You were in a coma?" Jubilee said, concern showing instantly on her face.
"See, that's why you need me around. Make sure things like that don't happen. You can't take care of yourself!"

Furrowing his brow slightly, Remy quickly snapped back to the present.
“Oh, dat... uh, yeah. An’ I ain’ sayin’ I’m arguin’ wit’ de last part, but I doubt dere was anytin’ y’ coulda don’ t’ stop me,” he replied, absently rubbing the back of his head, a gesture that was becoming common whenever he thought of the incident.

"I don't know about that being true, that I wouldn't have been able to stop you," Jubilee said.
"What happened?"

“Y’ ask a lot o’ questions, y’ know dat?” Remy asked, before sighing deeply. Seeing the images of that night playing freshly through his mind, he closed his eyes.
“Dere was dis big battle. Saw dat someone was ‘bout t’ get squashed, so I jumped in an’ took de hit,” he replied, before smirking faintly. “Not bad fo’ a t’ief an’ a scoundrel, eh?”
"I'm eternally curious," Jubilee said, watching him and frowning slightly.
"You do that all the time...take yourself down. You shouldn't. You did a good thing. Even if you did wind up in a coma. Might wanna work on that..."
She put her hands together under her chin, blue eyes still watching him in concern.

Chuckling lightly, Remy looked up at Jubilee, his red on black eyes meeting her clear blue ones.
“Now dat’s some good advice. Only do good deeds dat don’ land y’ in a coma,” he replied in a joking tone. “I’ll have t’ follow dat next time.”
Leaning forward, Remy mimicked her pose, much like she had his earlier.
“But y’ know, it’s funny. Worse few weeks o’ m’ life, not t’ mention de few weeks b’fo’ an’ after it... but I’d do it again in a heartbeat.”
