Now, I'd normally agree with you, since, y'know, I'm a Marvel girl rather than DC, but...dude, most of Marvel's characters are the product of radiation, you can't tell me that's not flawed. lol

You're not a Marvel Girl. That's Jean. Anywho, read Earth X. Everything gets explained in Earth X. Everything. Why Radiation affected Peter Parker and Bruce Banner the way it did, why there are mutants on the planet, why the entire race of Skrulls could shapeshift at one point, why Thor and the other Norse gods exist. Even the explanation of the origin of life in the universe. Everything.Of course, Earth X happens in, well, the Earth X realm, and not Earth-616 (canon-verse for all of you who don't know that), but oh well, it's still an awesome explanation.

I once saw a discussion where John Byrne was theorizing about Superman's abilities....how he stores solar energy...how his powers and release of that energy work like a form of telekinetic shield that operates as both a willful cancellation of gravity and also what makes him invulnerable...and while I don't remember specifics I always thought it demonstrated pretty cannily that all it takes is someone with a decent imagination to rationalize any of the seemingly magical or off-the-wall power sets. Byrne went so far as to show it happening such that Superman's cape very often got torn to shreds while his costume - which was closer to the energy field he generates - never got torn at all.
The major flaw in your thought about DC characters is that very, very often the same writers with the same techniques and explanations created both DC's and Marvel's properties. To unilaterally say something like "DC sucks" (my paraphrase) is certainly your right...certainly done as the same kind of "PCs suck/Macs suck" polar religious bigotry.... but my opinion is that if you buy into it you're simply choosing to limit yourself from more of the same kind of stuff you like. And I'm not just talking about "yeah...ok...that one wasn't so bad" kind of stories. I'm talking about "OMG, I can't even SLEEP this thing has me so worked up" kind of stories.

that's 'cos DC and macs both DO suck. ^_^
And fairy snuff, I remember getting into an argument once with a friend who completely wouldn't accept my attempt at an explanation as to why relatives could have different mutant powers, and was really irritated about it, and yet instantly accepted that a single gene mutating caused all that stuff, or all the radiation things. It was kinda like '..huh?'

And anyway, Jacob....I thought you *liked* Batman. Funny, Callie. I can imagine your frustration.

I get very heated in my arguments. Me and my best friend only argue about one thing and one thing only - Harry Potter, and we've fallen out over it several times, we just can't discuss it.
Anyway, advice for people...um... I'm sure I can dredge something else interesting up from my experience...uh... other than the general Mary Sues are evil, and I can rant about that for a looong time..
Here's a thought...when you're low on plot ideas, mostly once you've got started, remember, bigger is not necessarily better. Showy and interesting are not one and the same. How about trying something a little bit different, and bring an extra angle of realism into the game at the same time - think about things that have affected you, or challenges that you've faced in the past. How 'bout throwing a more regular curveball (or even something good) at your character? They could win an award, catch a cold, all sorts. Regular, every day things from a new angle - how does your characters mutation make those things different? We see a lot of life-threatening mutant viruses, prison breakouts, sentinal attacks and general big-bang style events - but Role Play is about the character, and people are affected by more than just the big stuff.

Cal, don't get me started on the Mac thing. I've been forced to use Windows for the last five weeks alongside my Mac, so I've had a chance for comparisons...
I love Batman. I don't read any of his comics, but I love him. The last Batman related thing I read was "The Dark Knight Returns," which was awesome cause he beat Superman.
Having gone over the list of DC comics characters I did like, I believe that the only reason I do not like DC is Superman. His very existence in the universe makes me not like it for some reason. I have to agree with Lex Luthor (another DC character I admire) on this one: "Why better myself? What reason do I have? No matter how fast I run, Superman's always faster. No matter how strong I am, Superman's always stronger. He inspires people to stagnation."
Advice for new people: if a thread is important, don't derail it. DO AS I SAY NOT AS I DO!

I had to use a mac to do photo editing for the college magazine, and I had to pull the photos off my photobucket account. Never again. I wanted to kill something. Here's a little something for you. ^_^ it's just friendly rivalry really, to me, as long as nobody makes me use a mac, I don't mind 'em, lol

DC does NOT suck! It rocks! JSA was fantastic, as was Chuck Dixon's Nightwing. Starman was also amazing, seriously, I'd think the people on this board would love Starman.
I believe that telekinetic field Superman theory seemed to be translated into some of Superboy's powers. At one point, not sure if he still can, he could extend his telekinetic field to lift or break things merely by touching them and concentrating.
Don't we have plenty of unresolved plotlines laying around? Maybe if someone is looking for ideas they might want to poke around the archives or older threads. Anyone disappear under mysterious circumstances? Anyone's accomplices still on the loose? Things like that.

Oblivion's cool. I have a level 26 Dunmer (Dark Elf) Assassin. Ah, yes, the Sneak/Alchemy/Blade skill combo is insane. I've done the math, and by the time I become a Master Alchemist/Sneak/Bladesman, I'll be popping off something like 5000 damage to things. The class I made is a variant of assassin, but with things like Alteration and Illusion instead of Acrobatics and Marksman. Currently, he's a Lvl. 23 Breton Ninja (that's what I call the class) with the Thief Birthsign. I haven't picked up Oblivion yet, but Morrowind to this day remains one of my favorite games. My character is an Imperial Knight, I think I have the Ritual sign. I went for as many Guild-type quests as I could before even beginning the main quest, and I think I'm now Archmaster of House Redoran, Master of the Fighter's Guild, and Knight of the Imperial Dragon in the Imperial Legion. And some other stuff. I can't believe I'm comparing RPing pedigrees. ;D From what I've read of Oblivion, it's pretty much the same as Morrowind, only better. Someday when I have more dollars than sense I'll pick up an Xbox 360 and retire from reality for a while. By that time, Mass Effect should be out, too. It's been nice knowing everyone. ;D

All I have is an old PS2 and we just sold a bunch of games on eBay to get what game for me and my kids? Kingdom Hearts 2. Ok, the laughter may start.

I've got the Xbox and PS2.
I enjoy Hulk: Ultimate Destruction the most out of my games sadly.
I'm saving my money for a new computer, so I'd be able to play Oblivion anyway ;D

With characters like Ultraman, Mongul, and Darkseid, how dare anyone say such a thing? :-D

Don't double post dear, and I can say it quite easily. Vertigo are all right, they have some pretty cool characters, I just happen to only be into Marvel so I keep up the good ol' Marvel/DC rivalry (which was actually deliberately engineered by Stan Lee etc, just for the fun, hee)
Nothing wrong with KH2 Sapphire, I have the first one...purely because of the FF7 characters in it *cough*
Now, perhaps it would be nice to move those sorts of disccusions to chat and get back on track about help?
