She smiled. "Thanks, that'd help." she said, nodding. She considered what he'd said for a moment, then nodded again.
"It sounds like it'd make sense..." she said. "I've been trying to make a shield, but I guess it's not the right kind of shield, since things keep getting through anyway."

“I t’ink you picked jus’ about de worst time ta start tryin’ ta control dis. Emotions be runnin’ high aroun’ here lately, an’ de bad ones are practically beatin’ on your head ta get in, non?”
Folding his arms over his knees, Remy rested his chin on them.
“Jus’ don’ expect it all ta jus’ go poof an’ be fixed. Unfortunately, dis kinda t’ing is gonna take a while. But don’ kill yourself workin’ on it in every wakin’ moment. Dat won’ help neit’er. Dat prolly jus’ make it worse.”
Am I even makin’ any sense? How do you really explain somet’in’ out dat you don’ truly understand y’self?

"I didn't even really *have* it untill recently...I somehow locked it away, untill that Danger Room session where i passsed out." she said, "So I never had to control it. Sadly, you're right about the other emotions tryin' to get in."
She smiled. "But it's not as bad as I used to think it was, before I 'locked it away'." she added, pulling on her gloves, trying to keep her thoughts off that topic.
"So did you have your empathy since you got your other power, or did you get it after?" she asked.

“You know, I don’ really know. I can’t really remember not havin’ it, but den again, dere be a lot o’ my past I don’ remember,” he replied, his eyes darkening slightly behind his bangs.
Or at least a lot I don’ wanna remember…
“So how ‘bout right now? Can you feel what I feelin’? Better yet, can you block it out, an’ focus on y’self?” Gambit asked, steering the subject away from his past. “T’ough, I ain’t de best guinea pig fo’ dis experiment. I ain’t de easiest person ta read.”
With that, he gave her a brilliant smile, despite his unshaven appearance. The smile was a perfect fake, undistinguishable from a genuine one.

She frowned, willing her shield to break this time. Breaking it was almost harder than making it, since part of her mind screamed at her to stop.
Once it was down she blinked a few times as the random grief and pain shot through her mind. She tried to block it out without a shield, and managed to at least tone it down, so her headache wasn't as bad.
She opened her eyes, thought she didn't remember closing them, and managed a smile. "Well, it's a lot less strong." she said, half of her mind focusing on the task of keeping it all at bay, the other half somehow managing to form words.

“There you go! Now don’ wear y’self out,” Remy replied, silently wishing he had a glass of water, or something to offer her. He also had the feeling some Advil wouldn’t be a bad thing either.
“An’ here endeth lesson de first,” he joked, laying a hand on her shoulder. Levelling her gaze, he gave her a small smile. “You’re doin’ good. It’ll get easier, I promise.”
Dere’s dat word again: promise. Do you even know de meanin’ o’ dat, homme?

She smiled. "Thanks." she said, re-building the now-only-temporary shield, so that she could think straight.
As the other residents of the mansion's emotions left, she felt a vague empty place, as if it was too quiet. She brushed it off, trying to ignore it.
"So, you gonna' get out of here, just for a bit at least?" she asked, tilting her head with a grin, having brought that subject up *again*. "Go outside or something. The rain's finally stopped." she added, "Even if you don't want to be around people, it's a start."

“You know, dat idea ain’t half bad. Maybe a ride would help ta clear my head,” Remy replied, half truthfully, and half just to humour her.
Besides, I definitely could use anot’er pack o’ smokes…
Rising from his bed, he took a sharp breath as a small wave of pain hit him, but he quickly hid it with a smile. Throwing on his duster and boots, Remy walked over to the door, holding it open, and gesturing for Larza to go ahead.

She stood and exited the room, glad she'd gotten him to at least leave his room for a bit. 'My work here is done.' she thought with an inward smile.
"See ya' later." she said, "And thanks again for the help."
