Henry raised an eyebrow.
"Thinking of starting a website?", he asked with a guarded expression.

Giving Beast a flat look, Magneto said, "Hardly." Then looking down at the file in front of him he said. "The Sentinels employ a technology similar to what is in Cerebro. They have the ability to find and track mutants with this technology."
He flipped open the file and thumbed through a few pages of schematics and diagrams. "As you may or may not know I had at least a hand in the conceiving of the idea for Cerebro-and I am very aware of what it does. Where am I going with this?" He asked in slight mockery of what Henry was surely thinking.
"If the signals for mutants can be found and tracked, if they can be received-there has to be a way to transmit them as well."

Henry was intrigued. Both eyebrows raised this time.
"Jam the radar, eh?", he asked thoughtfully.

“In a way, yes.” Erik said with a smile. “But furthermore we can send a signal that would either take these Sentinels on a wild goose chase, or lead them into an ambush where we have tactical advantages over them.”
He snapped the folder shut again. “The thing is we are extremely pressed for time if we are to go this route. We would need to begin immediately.”
Henry's mind was already deciphering the problem. "I'll need to gather enough unique samples of DNA that we don't make your decoys show up as one really BIG mutant....", he said distractedly, "...but I think we can work something up."

Once again Erik was glad to have Henry onboard. It seemed too often that his suggestions were shot down by the brainy Beast. “Whatever you need will be provided.” He held Henry’s gaze. “You seem to be doing well. Given the circumstances it seems you have found an untapped source of strength and resolve within you to deal with these trying times.”
He added the last part in quieter tones. “You are an invaluable link in the chain that holds this group together Henry. I thought you might need to know that.”
Henry's insecurity always jumped at words of praise. It just made him uncomfortable.
Yeah, the MISSING link... it screamed in some forgotten corridor of his mind - but he didn't indulge it.
He simply made a face that was somewhere between a non-committal "Hmm" and a smile and then wished he had a watch so he could notice the time and change the subject.
"Well, uh, thanks.", he managed.

Erik’s tone took a faraway ring to it. “Now if we only knew how the others were faring against the Sentinels. I do believe that much is riding on the outcome of that excursion.”
He narrowed his eyes. “You are aware that Logan has left with the mutants he mentioned in the meeting, are you not? He took the Blackbird and flew off like a…”
Eriks' fist clenched as he attempted to keep control of his anger.

Henry spoke with the kind of laid back tone that only comes after living through enough stress that only the really big things are worth working up the energy to get openly upset about. "Even with all the chaos around here", he replied, "it would be difficult not to notice the arrival and departure of the Blackbird."
"And nothing Logan ever does really surprises me any more but I am not specifically aware of who he dragged into his scheme."

"He took those mutants that he discussed in the meeting. Pyro, Gambit and Guido. I do not believe there are others, but I cannot be completely sure of that either." To let Henry know just how serious this was he added the statistics. "Unless they followed my plans precisely-which they could not do since I never actually communicated them-they are walking into a situation that could almost certainly end tragically."
Erik sighed. "The way I had it planned was minimal risk maximum damage. Logan just flying off to wing this could very well reverse those results." His expression got even more grave if that were possible. "Henry, you have no idea what just one of these Sentinels can do. I fear the odds are against the away team being outnumbered 10 to 1-at least."

Henry's expression fell. "It's why I resisted the notion when it was brought up", he said quietly. He did not say this as a boast, he barely even thought which you brought it up as I recall. Rather, he spoke as one who has considered the alternatives and seen that none of them are likely to end well.
"Someone with the backing to do what's being done with the technology...based on what little information we have...", Henry said thoughtfully - painfully. "These are powerful people. Corporate or Government. The kind of people with the money to make sure that they win."

Were it anyone else but Henry McCoy, Erik would have expected an ‘I told you so.’ But though the conversation teetered on the brink of going there, it never actually did. “You had valid concerns-but believe me going in there like Rambo was never what I had planned.” Erik left it there.
Henry seemed ready to leave, and Erik could hardly blame him. “I’m afraid there is one other thing. Mystique said she had procured a few useful weapons against these Sentinels, and is currently storing them just outside of town in an old abandoned warehouse.” He leveled a look at him. “They are to be picked up tomorrow morning, and we need a vehicle that is both inconspicuous and can carry a lot of weaponry. Word around here is that you have the perfect vehicle for this job. I am asking you to take the Hummer uptown and pick them up.” He smiled. “It is a relatively easy task, but it does include a relative element of risk.”
Henry looked at Magneto like he had lost his mind.
"Erik, a four hundred and fifty pound blue furred gorilla driving a brand new black H2 is inconspicuous?", he asked incredulously. "The car alone gets looks. It's why you buy an H2!"
"Besides...I need to be here... Y'know...", he said quietly with a down-trodden expression, "...in case something happens with the Professor or the others return. Send one of the others."

"Henry I chose you because I believe you need some time away, if only for a few hours. You are invaluable here, but I do believe we can make it without you for that period of time." He smiled at the big mutant.
Pausing, he continued with hints of the smile still there. "The choice is yours of course, but I do believe you could pull it off better than any of the students here-blue fur or not."

"I don't think it's a good idea for me if nothing else", Beast said as he shook his head. "And that's something I can control around here."
"But I only need a couple of things out of the glove box if you want someone else to take it. The keys are in it. I can get them for you when we leave here."
