"Alright, alright", Kurt replied as he balanced drinks and snacks on his way down the hallway. He would have pointed out that he could move faster with some help carrying but it wasn't as though his impatient "little brother" could offer much help.

"Hurry! Hurry!", Bamf said again. He bounced up and down to make Kurt try to move faster.

"Go on in", Kurt said with an encouraging nod. He kept up the same, careful pace but held out the snacks and drinks to make it look like they at least were arriving more quickly. "Start the movie", he added.

Bamf rushed in and bounced into one of the big fluffy chairs. "This one is my favorite", he told his big brother. He said that with just about any movie, but it was more or less true.

Kurt made it into the Rec Room and began to carefully set things down as Bamf found the remote and clicked the movie on. The screen was huge and the lights dimmed automatically as Kurt fell heavily into the overstuffed armchair.
Just in time for the movie's title. "Avatar".
Of course it was Bamf's favorite.
Not that Kurt minded any, either.

"Blue girl is pretty", Bamf told Kurt. It was only about the thousandth time he had said it.
This week.
"Mmm", he added as he dug into one of the snack bowls. "Pockcorn."

Something had to be going on tonight.
Bobby had gone from room to room looking for some kind of trouble to get into, and at every turn he was cast away. People were 'studying' or 'trying to get some peace and quiet', or 'for the love of (blank) leave me tha (blank) alone! Can't a guy get a little bathroom time in? (blank blank blank)'
Man, Guido was too funny!
Hearing television noises coming from the rec room, Bobby went down to investigate. There was Kurt and bamf watching Avatar. Again. Crap. Last time bamf saw that Bobby had to hear about the blue girl for a solid week.
"Sup guys," he said as he plopped down on the chair and kicked one leg up over the arm. "Hey bamf...you still got the fuzzies for that blue chick with the tail?" He smiled at how dang funny he was. "I know someone else who likes blue guys with tails," he said directly to Kurt.
Then he picked up a magazine and licked a finger before starting to stroll through the pages.
Build up the tension. This had to be killing Kurt!
Bobby turned another page, enjoying himself immensely.

"Hello, Bobby", offered Kurt. He smiled as Drake had a little fun at Bamf's expense. It was good-natured, and Kurt always felt good when people treated the young clone like he belonged. It reminded him of his own youth a bit....of the carnival Der Jahrmarkt. It had been a simpler time. And a happy one in its own strange way.
For the most part.
Kurt liked Bobby. He was a bit of a force of nature, but Kurt was certain he had a kind heart. A good soul. Though there was a bit of a culture gap he mostly understood Bobby's sense of humor and often found himself smiling or laughing along.
Except when it was directed at Kurt himself. It was probably his insecurity - his discomfort at being the target - but Kurt often realized with a little bit of panic that we wasn't quite sure what the joke was.
Was Bobby trying to say that Kurt liked blue guys with tails? Was it a reference to his manliness? That Bobby himself liked them? He tried to think of any reason Bobby would make such insinuations other than to get some kind of reaction. But, no, that wasn't it. And he already knew Bamf's preference. But maybe he was still teasing Bamf...suggesting that he might have an admirer.
Kurt gulped a little. That probably wasn't it either.
So then....Bobby was probably suggesting that he knew someone who admired Kurt.... And that both intrigued him and made him very uncomfortable at the same moment.
After all, he was still having trouble seeing whether or not Bobby was making fun of him.
Kurt's expression remained neutral, his tone conversational. "Ja?", he responded, trying to sound casually interested. His voice was maybe just a little too high to sound like Bobby's comment hadn't made him squirm a little.

"Blue girl is pretty", Bamf told Bobby in response.
One thousand and one.

“Hm?”
Bobby pretended like he’d forgotten he’d ever said anything at all. Then he pretended to try to remember and then he made a pretend ‘Oh yeah’ face as he pretended to remember the thing that he never really forgot.
He was too good at this.
“Oh yeah. Just mentioning that someone might be warm for your form.” He shrugged and turned his attention back to the magazine. He pursed his lips together in a toneless whistle while the movie played on.

The Recreation Room was a natural gathering area for adolescents. Mystique felt that this would be the best place to look for other students to ally herself with.
She entered the room with her head down, the resounding inner pounding making it difficult to focus. She'd finished her bowl of ice cream earlier, but the after effects still lingered painfully in the bottom of her gut. She could feel the sugar coursing through her blood, and registered that there was a conversation going on, but didn't catch the words. She waved hello and made a show of clutching her stomach.
Easing herself into an armchair, her eyes shut tight against the pain, she listened to the noises of the movie. Avatar. She'd heard about the movie and seen the posters for it. The concept of a man betraying the human race for a blue alien female was pure fiction. She'd lived that life. She'd only met violence and ridicule.
At last, wanting to see what all the shouting on screen was about, she opened her eyes. There was a flash of blue motion that she zeroed on, and her whole body went rigid.
He was there. Not even two feet away, his eyes on the screen, his beautiful blue tail twitching in amusement. The twinkling laughter pouring out of his pretty face...her heart beat faster.
She whispered without letting the sound fall farther than her own ears,
"Ainm ceana..." It was a phrase dredged up from some hidden portion of her memory, but it slipped out and it seemed to fit. She continued to stare at the little one, not wanting to lose sight of him ever again.
He was so small still, not much larger than a toddler. She wanted to go to him now and take him up in her arms and memorize the precious scent of him. Her flesh and blood. She looked at the others to see where their attention was and blinked once. Twice. Two?

...warm for your...
There weren't all that many advantages to having skin of cobalt blue. Hiding in darkness was one. Not turning red (or purple) at embarrassment was another.
But that was really only helpful if you didn't immediately look as shocked and uncomfortable as Kurt did. Bobby had a talent for embarrassing Kurt like few people he'd ever met.
It made it worse that Nina chose that moment to enter the room. There weren't many things Bobby liked more than an audience. An audience that included females was one of them.
"I think we should talk about this later", Kurt said quietly. He would have pleaded if he thought it would help. "People may want to watch the movie."

Bamf grabbed another handful of "pockcorn". Some of it actually made it into his mouth.
He crunched loudly and watched the movie.

She decided the elder didn't matter. For all she knew, he was a clone of her child sent back from the future. The small one was closer to what she remembered her small one should be now. Smiling uncomfortably at "warm for your form", she settled herself next to her supposed son.
Turning her eyes to the screen, trying to follow the story, she whispered,
"Great movie, huh?" She gestured toward the popcorn, smiling shyly and prettily at him. "May I have some?"

In the midst of the awkwardness, in walked an only slightly familiar face. Bobby gave Nina a nod and continued to inspect the magazine while actually watching Kurt wrestle with the concept of a girl with the hots for him out of the corner of his eye. It only seemed to get worse when Nina came in, and Kurt tried his best to nip the conversation in the bud.
"Okay," he said to Kurt with a finger up to his lips in the shushing sign.
"Sooo..." He reached over and grabbed a handful of popcorn and looked at Nina. Palming the popcorn he started singing "Loove is in the aiirr." He gave Nina a significant look and then mussed up bamf's hair.
"Okay okay, you're dragging it out of me," he said to Kurt suddenly. "What is this some kind of Jedi Mind Trick??" He pointed at him in a very DeNiro kind of fashion. "You. You're good," he said shaking his finger.
Then he looked at Nina. "Kurt's got a secret admirer," he said by way of explanation.
