The Rogue was flustered.
Tight fists hurled at thin air as she took out her frustrations in precise motions on an invisible opponent. Her eyes flashed, her nostrils flared, her body tensed. Her shomach clenched, and hurt terribly.
She could feel eyes on her. His eyes.
She wanted to train alone. Independent. Without distraction.
And yet... she loved his command. There was something in his words that still rang true. A flutter of confusion passed through her mind as she continued on her excercise, trying to seem unaware of his presence.
Throwing a few complicated kicks and thrusting some punches, Anna stopped short of her grand finish to clutch a stitch in her side burried deep within a scar that ran diagonally down her right side. Her eyes shut and she took in a sharp breath, refusing to believe that she hadn't quite healed yet.
"Ah want t' come back t' the team, Sam."
She ground her teeth, biting back a groan.
"Ah can't stand to be off the force any more."

He had been busying himself with how exactly to word his...humiliating message to Dr. McCoy when the news had reached him.
Apparently, she had been cleared by medical, and would be coming back under his command.
For a man who could have any woman he wanted, there was something....intoxicating about her, something different. There was something alluring about chasing prey that could not be caught.
And until recently that had been Anna.
"Depends, did medical clear you?" Samuel said, his eyes slowly traveling over her sweating body, "I'd hate for you to get my hopes up and then be hospitalized again."
"It'd be cruel of you"

Anna stalked over to the bench, picking up the towel she had laid there and taking a long, hard drink from her water bottle. The cold liquid felt wonderful down her throat and even better as she pulled away to let a small trickle land on the base of her throat and the back of her neck.
From her position only feet away, she raised her eyes to his, her look dark and sadistic.
“When have ah evah been anythin’ else, sugah?”
She was a wicked fighter. She was healthy, and Dr. McCoy had warned her greatly about stressing her body. Especially with her new situation, the treatments he gave her wore her body down and would continue to do so for the next couple weeks. But she wanted back in. Anna knew it would only serve to make her stronger in the long run.
After a moment, she reluctantly admitted in a round about way, “He didn’t say ah wasn’t cleared.”
Turning to face him, she persisted, “You saw me. Ah can fahght. Ah'm the best fahghter ya got out there.”

Mmmm...yummy Samuel thought as he watched a small trickle of water run down her neck. She had to be doing this on purpose. Didn't even notice that she had said anything at all until she locked eyes with him, expecting an answer.
''You saw me. Ah can fahght. Ah'm the best fahghter ya got out there.''
"I suppose that's good enough for me...." Samuel replied, his eyes seemed hungry, as if they were devouring her shape with every glance.
"What's this I hear about your abilities.....I hear there's been....some changes..." That was the big question, hushed rumors through out the barracks had told him that Anna's gifts had been altered.
And if the rumors were true...all the better for him.

There was a twitch at the corner of her mouth when Anna thought about the implications of Samuel’s words. Any doubt that she had about him finding out the truth was gone and she simply stood, trying not to look horrified, staring lifelessly at him. He was staring, again.
“Dr. McCoy has found a treatment to help me with control,” she said simply, her eyes flashing dully.
Straightening up to her full height, Anna walked up to her commander, leveling her gaze with his, her face only a couple feet from his.
“He says it will enable me to live something like a normal life…” she frowned, uneasily, “As long as ah visit him daily.”
She wasn’t sure if she liked where this conversation was going.

That may have been the best news he had heard all day. In fact it was nothing short of..
"Fantastic" Samuel said, his gaze meeting her's, "The Doctor certainly is a genius isn't he.."
His smile was hungry as well. White teeth gleamed at Anna.
"I'm sure you're excited about it..." Sam added, "The prospect of being able to...well touch again..."
This was fantastic news indeed.

Anna’s returned smile was nothing short of a grimace.
“Yeah,” she replied dryly, “Ah’m thrilled.”
Reaching for the towel that hung on her shoulder, she used it to dry the hair at the base of her neck and shrugged, trying to seem casual. Her commander was nothing more than a creepy hunter.
“Ah can touch… but, unfortunately, so can everyone else.”
He was looking at her like a piece of meat. If he wasn’t so abrupt and perverted, maybe… maybe she’d like to take a chance with him... As if he'd change.

Why wasn't she taking to his advances? At this point Samuel's natural charm and charisma should have brought on at least one lustful glance.
But then again, Anna had always been different.
"Well, luckily, the enemy has no interest in such things..."
He grimaced slightly, the thought of his task was a terrible specter over his shoulder. Magneto's will commanded him to win, but the pressure and the consequence of a loss...
He'd rather not think of his fate should he fail.
"Have you been briefed?"

Anna’s brow furrowed, and her mannerisms totally changed to be a bit more accepting. Samuel was stepping into his leadership role. She respected that side of him, and she would show it greatly.
“Briefed, sir?” she asked, a little confused and then shook her head.
“Ah’ve been out of the loop for quite some time if you don’t remember. Is there something that you’re exceptionally worried about?”
The stress lines were evident on his face as they grew darker and deeper, and she, as his soldier, felt the progressing need to reassure him, “You know you can trust us, your team. If not them, you can trust me.”
She didn’t quite feel as strongly about what she was saying anymore, but it was their way of life. The accident didn’t change that.
“Sam…” she set her hand on his shoulder, “What is it He wants us to do?”

"We've had heavy losses over the last few skirmishes...the enemy has a new weapon...They call it.."
He sneered at the silliness of it. He was so consumed by his frustration with this new foe that he hardly noticed Anna's hand on his shoulder.
"Ultron"
He shook his head, "Highly adaptable robot soldiers, each of them near impossible to destroy"
"Even I have trouble with them, and you know how my gift works..."
"We must protect the Empire, failure is not an option, We fight or we fall." Samuel said, his face a mask of thinly veiled fury, "No matter what the cost."
He looked to Anna, the pressures of duty far outweighed his lust for her. "If you're joining back up, you'd better be all in, this will not be easy."

Anna nodded her head fervently, “Of course. Of course ah’m in. Why wouldn’t ah be?”
She supported the Empire, she thought. Although, admittedly it was harder now than it had been, but obviously if it meant the preservation of their race, Anna was going to join the fray.
And then, she began pacing, a small snicker escaping her lips.
“Ultron.”
Nodding to herself, she began for the door, and came to face him again. Restless.
“Do we have a plan? Layouts of the soldiers? Anything to work with? Ah’ll try mah best t’ help. Anythin’ for the Empire.”
She smiled suddenly, " 'Sahdes... stress doesn't suit you."

"I have some basic layouts of the most complete specimens we could bring in, but unless you have an intimate knowledge of advanced robotics it wouldn't do you any good to look at them.." Sam answered, "Trust me, my head still hurts."
He hated saying the next part. He should have been able solve this himself, he was the Commanderof SHIELD, it was in his job description to do the impossible.
But that was not the case this time around.
"I'm sending them to Doctor Henry McCoy, I imagine he could make some sense out of all of it...." He said, "Really, that's all I can do, other than fight them when they appear and hope our losses are acceptable."

Anna stopped shifting and leaned heavily against the doorframe, arching her back to stretch the sore muscles along her spine. This definitely was a predicament that they had gotten themselves into, wasn’t it?
“Sam,” she said simply, just demanding enough to gain his complete attention.
“It’s alright. Dr. McCoy’s a very smart man. Smarter than us all. You did what you could, sugah.”
SHIELD expected a lot from its workers, Samuel was no exception. He was a brilliant mind. Perverted, but brilliant. She didn’t mind him when he wasn’t so blatantly sexual. He was truly just looking out for the livelihood of them all.
“You train us well, we do our part in the fahght. If we know what’s comin’ we will be prepared this tahme. The body count will go down…”
She was brave and went outside her comfort zone to take his hand. Skin to skin.
“Magneto will be proud of you, Samuel. Trust me. We’ll do just fahne.”

"I certainly hope so, there's a lot at stake here.." Sam replied after the shock of her touch wore off. Her skin was smooth and it made his every nerve jump.
"If you would please, keep this conversation to yourself,' Samuel asked. "If what we said left this room, morlae would take a serious hit, and I can't afford to not have the men at their best."
"You understand of course?"

Once again, Rogue nodded understandingly and she tightened her grip on his hand.
“Of course,” she mimicked his words, “Not a word.”
He was actually very concerned, focused, actually attractive, “Ah promise, Sam.”
The amazing qualities where what deemed him team leader of this escapade. Magneto never had to deal with his obsessions beyond war. Those at least had some meaning behind them. A driving mental force based on morale… Morale is not morals. That’s for sure.
“Don’t worry.”
She smiled again, “Do something t’ get your mahnd off of it. Take a walk. Go to the Rec Room…”
