The pieces were in place. Endgame would begin very soon.
Sinister paced through his laboratory, monitoring and adjusting various pieces of equipment, and noting with satisfaction the results. Stepping through a secured-access door, he found himself in a small observation area, looking into what appeared to be a hospital ward. Several people lay in the various beds there, some of them obviously mutants. All of whom looked deathly ill.
Such convienient test subjects, these Morlocks.
Exiting the observation area, he made his way to another section of the lab, one not so oppressive and intimidating. Deefer Mallone lay on an examination table, clad only in a hospital gown and hooked to various monitoring devices.
"I apologize for the inconvinence, my dear. A few simple tests are all I require, and then you may return to duty."

Though she was blatantly aware that he was a scientist - after all, who else tried cloning? - she hadn't really considered how much this would effect working for him. But, work for him she did, and that involved doing what he told her too, which included submitting herself for tests - she supposed everybody wanted to admire their handiwork, in one way or another.
When he entered the lab, she looked over to him expectantly, nodding at his words "It's no problem sir."

Sinister moved about the exam room, checking each piece of equipment and noting the results on a PDA-like device. Finally, he took a sample of her blood and ran the sample through another testing device.
Sinister rarely showed emotion. What he saw made his face split into an almost gleeful smile.
Deefer's blood was crawling with Legacy virus antibodies.
It was true Deefer was a manufactured clone. But she was far from being merely an experiment, Sinister had a purpose for everything. Deefer's clone fetus had been purposedully injected with the Legacy Virus to test her most important genetic gift.
A living, breathing cure for the Legacy Virus.
Deefer would test positive for the virus, of course. But the antibodies coursing through her veins made her impervious to the very disease she carried. Sinister stepped back with a sigh of satisfaction. With one hand he had created the greatest scourge to mutantkind the world had ever known, and with the other, he had created the cure.

To say that Deefer was surprised to see the smile on Sinister's face would be something of an understatement, though she hadn't been working for the man for long, he really did not seem the type to display emotion of any sort (except perhaps anger), and this was the first time she had seen it.
"Something good, oyadama?" She ventured, a little nervously, wondering what it was about her blood that had caused the scientist's triumphant expression.
