Silver Fox dug around in her pants pocket for her cell, nearly going off the road at a couple of points and making people swear and beep their horns at her. She blinked tired eyes, not having dared slow down after the shooting that morning. And then the sporadic shooting throughout the day.
Thankfully, the tranq darts hadn't lasted very long, and she'd left some very surprised looking corpses behind her. And the bullets healed right up; she was just intensely thankful that nothing had hit her in the stomach yet.
Using one hand to quickly dial Logan's cell, she put it between her head and her shoulder, concentrating on sliding in between two cars. When the muffled sound of a silenced rifleshot reached her ears, she thanked whoever for that subtle sense of forewarning she was using to the utmost today. She waited for Logan to pick up impatiently. And then he did.
"Logan? Who are HYDRA and why the HELL are they trying to kill me? Because I think I'd really-^&%@!" Silver Fox swerved as she hit a mostly abandoned stretch of road and they used something that shot multiple bullets. Some form of automatic rifle, she noted in the calm part of her brain that wasn't panicking about dying. She hit the gas again, and glanced at her fuel gauge. About half a tank left.
"I'm heading back to New York. Doesn't that just make you feel all warm and tingly?" she said dryly. "Rest assured, it's merely the knowledge that I can't fight off an army on my own when I'm preggers is the only reason I'm coming back. So. You feel up to meeting and helping me kick some ass, or what, Logan?"

It had been a few days since Logan had heard from Silver Fox. Their last meeting had not gone well, she had thrown out some accusations, and he just flat out did not want to deal with it. But after she had left, the gravity of the situation had really gotten him down.
She was pregnant with his child?
To the best of his knowledge he had no living relatives in the world. The knowledge of this unborn child was stirring emotions in him that he had never known before. As he went back to work, he found that he could not keep up with his previous productivity. His thoughts would stray between Silver Fox, Storm and this unborn child. Instead of his life becoming simplified by moving out of the Institute, it had suddenly become horribly complicated.
As he was hauling an armload of lumber up to the roof of a three-story house he was framing, Logan’s cell phone went off. He leaned the lumber against a wall and answered it. There wasn’t really much chance for him to say anything, however. Silver Fox was yelling into his ear, and he could hear the sounds of her motorcycle and of gunshots.
He listened to her, and became consumed with concern for her safety…and for the baby. “Fox, where are you now?” Without even knowing it, he was headed toward the ladder and had his eyes on his bike.

"Interstate, heading back into New York. They can't quite shoot me because I'm hiding in between two cars at the moment," Silver Fox said.
"But they're not showing any concern for bystanders."

Hopping on his motorcycle, Logan revved it up. “I’ll be there ta help ya, Fox. Count on it.” With that he clicked the phone off and gravel shot up behind his bike as he pulled out of the job site quickly. His mind was single-mindedly focused right now. Silver Foxs’ safety was paramount even to the foreman he left shaking his head at Logans’ departure, and the fact that he was likely as of now unemployed. These things never crossed his mind.
Racing through the city streets, ignoring traffic laws of all kinds, Logan made his way to the Interstate. The best thing he could think of was to get on the highway and pull off on the shoulder while he waited for Silver Fox and her attackers to pass by.
As he pulled the bike off on a shoulder, he kept his sharp ears focused, and he kept his eyes in his rearview mirror. At the first sign of the caravan, Logan would be all over it. He still had a bone or two to pick with HYDRA himself.

Silver Fox felt a surge of relief as Logan said he was coming, sliding the cell back into her pocket. Ok, just keep your wits about you and soon enough, we'll meet up with Wolverine and then we can kick some ass.
As she neared the shoulder that Logan had pulled out on to wait for her arrival, Silver Fox swore as one of the snipers behind her shot out the back wheel of her bike. She leapt off it and started to run, leaving the bike in the middle of the road and dodging between cars. Fumbling in her waistband for her hand gun, she darted to the side of the road and saw Logan.
"Logan!"
She turned, aimed at the car which had been dogging her all the way down the interstate and shot at it. The windscreen was already splintered and the driver went down behind the steering wheel as her bullet hit him in the chest. The gunman on the left died as she shot again. Fishtailing wildly, the car spun out and then hit the siderail as she jogged to where Logan was on the bike, sliding the empty clip out and putting in a new one.
"Y'know, I think this is why I don't like America so much..."

Looking in his rearview mirror, Logan could see Silver Fox approaching, and ground his teeth together as one of the attackers fired a volley of shots at her. One of the shots hit her back tire and she fishtailed out of control. Luckily Silver Fox was very agile and had very quick reflexes. She came out of that fishtail and somehow found her feet, running and dodging across the highway just behind him.
She seemed to have already spotted him, and since she was nearly on him, he just revved the engine a little and waited for her to hop on. “Leave tha drivin’ ta me, sweetheart. You just get rid of tha last of tha turkey patrol.”
As she held on for their take off, the back tire of Logan’s bike left a black mark on the pavement. He knew their attackers weren’t far behind, and luckily for them, Logan was a master at driving a motorcycle.
“Hold on, Fox!” With very little warning, he suddenly jumped the bike off a small embankment and went rolling down a patch of hill toward the oncoming traffic going the other direction. A few cars had to swerve and honk their horns annoyingly, but for the most part it was a seamless transition, and soon they were merging into the traffic.

"They pissed me off. Bulletholes in the shirt is not a look I encourage," Silver Fox growled, putting her arms around his waist as he then took off.
She leaned into the turns easily, before he warned her to hold on and they were airborne for a few moments before they hit dirt again. Soon enough, they were in traffic and looking more normal.
"Any ideas on what to do next?" Silver Fox asked Logan, as she had no idea. She didn't have any idea who HYDRA was, or what they were capable of.
"And who the hell are those guys anyway?"

Checking his rearview mirror every couple of seconds, Logan finally became convinced that they had lost their pursuers. He exited immediately, and wound down several side roads and finally pulled the bike down an alley and killed the engine.
In a bit of a haste, Logan got off his bike and checked Silver Fox over. "Are you ok?" There was an uncharacteristic note of concerned excitement in his voice.
Holding the fabric of her shirt up he saw the bullet holes and ringed with blood. Without asking permission, he lifted the blouse up to see that there was no wound beneath. He was satisfied, and he lowered the blouse again, returning his attention to the bullet holes.
"I dunno...the bullet holes look kinda good on ya."

"Gah!"
Silver Fox was a bit shocked as he just yanked her shirt up to check the condition of her skin underneath, thankfully healed over and scar-free despite the evidence of the bulletholes to the contrary. She gave him a slightly offended look, then punched him hard on the arm.
"Jesus, Logan. And I look good in anything."

Logan laughed at her after she hit him, though the punch was anything but ticklish. “I wasn’t just lookin’ for fun.” His smile got wider at the insinuation that he did derive enjoyment from it nonetheless. “Just makin’ sure there was no damage to you or little one.”
The fire in her eyes suggested that she was still angry at him. “Lemme guess…you were flyin’ tha coop because of our conversation the other day. On tha road, those turkeys caught up with ya somehow, and you became their prey.”
Holding up a forestalling hand to her questions, he hushed her without a word. “I’ll tell ya what I know about HYDRA in a minute…which ain’t much. First, I just wanna…” He scratched at his face as he tried to find the words. “I just wanted to help ya, Fox…not run yer life. You know me better than that.” In all the time they had known each other he had never once told her what to do or suggested some claim of macho control over her. Not once.
“This thing’s got us both freaked out. Don’t run away from me. I know all about that trick from personal experience, and I’m just askin’ that ya don’t do that.”
Silver Fox sighed, and looked away from him for a moment, running a hand through her hair below the headband.
"It's just..."
She bit hard at the inside of her lip, trying to find the right words.
"I do know you're better then that. I just hate this feeling of being out of control, and a baby's gonna anchor me down to one place for a real long haul. But at the same time..."
She just shook her head wordlessly, soft smile appearing for a moment before her expression turned serious again.
"You know me, Logan. I don't get scared easy. And I'm so terrified about this, even more now that there's this group of idiots who say I'm meant to be working for them and I ain't ever heard of them before. I don't want to screw this up."

Silently he wondered where she was going with that ‘at the same time’ comment, but he just continued to listen to her instead of pressing in with a line of questioning. After she was finished, he just stood back with his arms crossed and thought about it for a few moments. Something was brewing in the back of his mind, and he thought that he knew the answer to this predicament, though it was something he had definite mixed feelings about.
“Yer about as tough as they come,” he admitted. “That’s exactly why you won’t run away from this.” He lowered his eyes to the bike for a moment while he pieced the words together that he knew he had to say.
“Charlie can keep ya safer than anyone from HYDRA, or from anyone else. On top of that, there’s a doc there named Hank who could look out for ya better than anyone I know of.” And now for the hardest part. “I could take ya there, introduce ya to the two of ‘em…”
This was difficult on many levels. He didn’t particularly want to show his face around there, though he had the strong suspicion that he could get in without anyone knowing. On top of that, what in the world was he going to tell Hank? He had a feeling that the man would figure it out fairly soon that the child Silver Fox carried was his own…and since Hank knew Logans’ past it certainly wouldn’t take much in the way of brilliance.
“Whadd’ya say?”
Silver Fox put her hand against the alley wall, and looked upwards at the glimpse of sky between the buildings. Considering Logan's offer. Which he had started to offer the other night, and she had thrown it back in his face, angry that something as important as the desicion to have a child had been taken out of her hands by pure chance. And he was right; she'd been running scared from it. From him. From everything this stood for.
"Alright. But just until the baby's born...I'll probably need to figure out something else after that. I don't do charity."
Then she winced, remembering something.
"Oh god, my van...^&%*ing goddamn bastards!" She then swore in Cree angrily, knowing they'd take the weapons and probably destroy her van. At least there wasn't anything important in there. "Seems like I need a place to stay anyway. Ah, well. It's just stuff."
She shrugged philosophically.
"We going to this place now?"

"Almost," Logan said to her with a smile.
Then he moved in and gently embraced her.

"Oh?" Silver Fox said, lifting her eyebrow slightly as he put his arms around her.
She could still feel the adrenaline thrumming through her body, and she gave him a crooked grin. Still flying high on the thrill of the chase and the short gunfight, which she'd won. It put her in a good mood, now that she was safe.
"Why?"
