I'd love for anybody to join in. Guess she kinda needs a side to join, I've no preference myself. So if anybody is interested, go ahead and post there, or PM me, whatever ya care to...

Well, that was thoroughly un-Larza like, if it makes you feel any better.

Great minds think alike.
I think that was made up so that people wouldn't mind it so much when the government finally perfects mind control and everyone becomes identical drones.

I would be happy with ANY of the following:
Bishop
Forge
Cable
Cypher
Magick
Mastermind
Mimic
Mystique
Caliban
Sebastian Shaw
Selene
Sage
Spiral
All of the above have... interesting... challenges to RPing them.
Any suggestions on which one I should take?
"Cannonball" told me: "I tripled checked, we've never had a Shaw. Or a real Cypher/Mimic/Bishop"
Now, knowing that you all have just kicked over into a HoM inspired plot...
Any of the four mentioned above could be real interesting...
But even moreso, Cable... depending upon how his background is detailed... because they sidelined him for Marvel's HoM. However, I see great potential... if he came back in time and kept the reputation he had in mainstream Marvel Universe...
The Osama Bin Laden of Mutants, fighting to take down the House of M, because it leads to Apocalypse rising to uncontested power in the future where he's from.
The other side of the coin would be Bishop... the Supercop from the future, attempting to prevent the Fall of Rome House of M.
Shaw would be fun, because... well, let's face it... millionaire industrialist, Hellfire Club decadence... and a cruel streak the size of the Nile. Considering in the HoM, he was Mag's Nick Fury...
Douglas Ramsey... I know most people think of Doug as a total waste of space, but... I've got a soft spot for someone who technically could reprogram the entire Sentinel fleet into his own private army with a few choice 'words'. I don't think the writers at Marvel truly grasped Doug's possibilities, preferring to "emo" him out, and focus on visually dynamic physical powers instead.
Mimic... well, thanks to Exiles, Calvin's finally gotten some decent exposure, so he's no longer just an entry under "former X-Men". The formation of HoM gives great chance to handpick the 5 mutant abilities to give him, vs the traditional original X-Men. Again, the question comes, however... how does Calvin fit into the big pic?

Like you said, all the canon characters come with plenty of opportunity to be interesting. In this case (of the HoM plotline), Fate is responsible for figuring out how whichever character fits into the storyline. You would just make a character with the history that canon gives them (modified only slightly if you wish).
Shaw could be interesting, but he might not be who you think he is in the alternate universe. Doug Ramsey is one I've wanted to see on here forever, as is Cable, and Bishop. Again, any of them could work and be really great. The list is too extensive to go into detail with it.
But I'm thinking the best approach to picking one would be to look at which 'personality' you want to portray. Which would be the funnest one to write? Try not to look at the possibilities for the AU, Fate is the one that chooses that.

Doug Ramsey was an *awesome* character before they decided to wimp out on him.

People...
I am glad to see I am not alone on the Doug Ramsey travesty. I had thought for years I was the only Cypher fan in the universe.
From what has been written, I will be making Cypher and Cable character apps.
Oh, quick question...
Is Charles Xavier dead in this HoM storyline...?
Because while kicking around where I'd want to have Cable hide out...
I was inspired.
Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters...
Lemme correct that.
Charles Xavier's [Memorial] School for Gifted Troubled Youngsters.
Headmaster: Cain Marko.
Premise being that Charles died when the Juggernaut was born, in the collapsing cave.
Just a wild idea... heh.
Yeah, that's right. I said it. The X-Mansion as a juvenile retention center.

Yeah, as Logan said....for this round the game is that while we pick the characters, Fate decides for us what that character's lot will be. We play it forward from there.
And yes....that includes the mods. We all took a very purposeful "step back" from our characters and let them be defined in the same way as everyone else. In a very real way, we're all playing the hand Fate dealt us. I've been rolling the idea around of starting a "DVD X-tras" thread to begin to reveal some of what I think are the more interesting tidbits of the background on that, but I'm not sure whether anyone would care or not. And I won't do anything to jeopardize the surprises we have in store.
All of that digression aside, it means we already have a notion of how each of the characters interconnect. We haven't yet revealed the fate of Charles Xavier, but rest assured it's an important part of how we got to the place where we first caught a glimpse of this world.
I loved Cypher. (Although trying to play him would present unique challenges, I think. He *has* to be the best for pure angst, though.) I also loved Warlock. I hated them together. What they chose for each of them makes me mourn two wonderful characters.
