*Here is my fan fiction. It isn't finished yet, but I figured some one might like to read what I have so far.*
Unlearning An X-men Fan-Fiction By: Ryo Remya
Event One:
He crouched on the roof of a building in the large city. He didn’t dare twitch a muscle. He had been sitting there for over an hour just waiting. He was loosing his patience. His piercing gaze scanned the surrounding city carefully. It was no use; the girl he was hunting for wasn’t here. He sniffed the breeze; he couldn’t even catch a tiny whiff of her peculiar odor. What is taking that blue-fluff-ball so long to get back? I can’t wait in this goddamn city forever! Logan thought bitterly. He couldn’t understand why professor Xavier had told him and Kurt to retrieve some young mutant girl anyway. Logan grunted and rolled his neck, making an odd metallic cracking sound. It was almost completely dark out. Logan was getting a little past restless. He gave up being a statue and sat down completely. He reached in his jacket and pulled out one of his “prized” cigars. He looked for is lighter. “Damn it all, where’s my friggen lighter? I had it earlier,” Logan hissed. “Why is it when ever I really need a smoke my lighter disappears?”
At that moment there was a loud Bamf noise that almost caused Logan to jump. A thick dark cloud of smoke blew at him. He half sneezed from the stench of brimstone. A dark blue humanoid shape materialized in front of him. “Hallo, Wolverine. Did you need this?” Kurt tossed an object at him. Logan caught it easily it was his lighter. He grinned, and lit his cigar. “Thanks Nightcrawler. Let me guess you didn’t find out anything ‘bout that mutant girl?” Logan asked between drags. The blue mutant shook his head, “Nein, I had great luck. I have learned more about her powers.”
“Oh, really what did you learn?”
“The girl can geworden animals,” Nightcrawler sat next to Wolverine. Logan looked at Kurt with eyebrows raised in confusion, “Geworden?”
Kurt sighed sarcastically, “She can become, animals. Shape-change.”
Logan was mildly interested. He knew there was a mutant who could take the form and voice of different people, but he’d never known one to take the forms of animals. “So, how do we find her? Do you have an idea where she is?” Logan said staring longingly at the nub of his cigar, wanting it to last longer. “I know where she is hiding, and I have an idea of how to lure her out,” Kurt’s bright yellow eyes shimmered. Logan was doubt full but got to his feet anyway. Nightcrawler stood also. “Nicht unter Schätzung ich Wolverine,” he said but didn’t give a translation.

Event Two:
Nerezza an orphaned street girl was terrified. She looked carefully and made her way through the dark woods. She was shaking at the thought of what just happened to her. She remembered sneaking into the back of a restaurant to steal herself dinner when the lead chef saw her and pulled a knife on her. She remembered trying to run backwards when he lashed out blindly at her. She was lucky, the knife only nicked the right side of her face. She screamed and then things went kind of hazy. It felt to her that something was snapping inside of her and suddenly she could feel parts of her body changing or lengthening, the next thing she knew was that the man was yelling at her. He was screaming, “It’s bad enough you’re a damn thief, but a frigggen mutant too! I won’t miss this time!”
“I-I am not a m-mutant,” she stuttered bumping into a stove as she scrambled to escape the maddened chef. The chef scrambled to catch her, but he slipped and fell. By that time Nerezza had gotten out of the back door. The chef swore at her that she wouldn’t be able to hide. Nerezza ignored his taunting, and fled. She was running much quicker than she had ever been able to before. She glanced down at herself and almost passed out. Her body was covered in fur, dark reddish-black fur. She was running for her life, she almost knocked over some poor guy in a dark coat as she fled the city. He called after her, “Hey you, wartezeit, stop!” She kept on running. She didn’t want anyone else to see her- a horrible monster.
Nerezza sat down finally, and was amazed to find out that she wasn’t breathing that hard, and she had probably run over a mile. She had made it out of the town and was in a small over grown forest. It was there she looked at herself more carefully, further surprised at how well she could see in the dim forest light. Short dark, pattern less fur, she turned trying to look at her back. She gasped, “Holy shit... I have a t-t-tail. What the hell am I?” She had a thick furry dog’s tail. She felt her face, also furry, and her nose was pointy. She had never known any mutants. Did all mutants look this strange? Is that why they hid from “normal” people? “Am I some kind of dog-human,” she whispered. She felt the wind blow on her face and something on top of her head twitched uncontrollably. Instinctively her hands reached up to scratch the tickled spot, only to find a second pair of ears, pointed dog’s ears. She snapped her fingers experimentally. She flinched, the ears worked almost too well. “So, I am a mutant,” Nerezza sobbed, “I want to die.”

Event Three:
Wolverine and Nightcrawler stood looking into the dark forest. Wolverine turned to Nightcrawler and asked, “You’re sure she’s still in there, Kurt?”
“Yes, I followed her for a while. She’s very distraught, but that is understandable...” he said thoughtfully. Logan nodded. Poor kid, no mutant should have to go through that, he was thinking of what Nightcrawler had said earlier: “Apparently she lives on the street. She had attempted to steal food from that restaurant. I over heard the chef yelling about a mutant.”
“We should go find her, we were suppose to be back at the mansion about twenty minutes ago.” Nightcrawler said. “Yeah, let’s get this over with, I would like to eat dinner sometime tonight,” Wolverine grumbled sarcastically. The two mutants walked in silence for about tem minutes before they found any sign of the girl. They found her curled at the side of a fallen tree. It looked as if it had fallen down just recently. Nightcrawler looked at the girl. She was even more wolf-like now, than when he had first seen her fleeing the city. He walked over to her and crouched next to her. She was shaking. Nightcrawler could tell she was crying, but had no more tears left to shed. He spoke softly to her, not wanting to frighten her. Although, he thought, my appearance will probably startle her. I always seem to scare people at first... “Hey, are you hurt?” he asked her. She didn’t answer she merely stopped shaking and tensed up. Wolverine walked over next to Nightcrawler. He stared at the girl quietly. She’s only half an animal, he noted, I wonder if she’s going to be able to transform completely? Nightcrawler reached out his three fingered hand and placed it on the girl’s slender shoulder. She flinched, but didn’t turn to face him. “Kurt, hurry it up,” Logan said as his stomach growled. Nightcrawler turned and glared dangerously at Wolverine. “How can you expect her to come with us, if you are going to rush me,” he hissed. Hearing that the girl’s wolf-ears twitched, and she turned slightly. Nightcrawler turned his attention back to the girl, just as she spoke. “Why, do you want me to come with you?” she asked in a small voice hardly loud enough for Nightcrawler to hear. “We want to take you to a place that will teach you about your powers, a safe-haven for young mutants so-to-speak,” Nightcrawler answered her. “Do you collect mutants or something?” The girl asked, her voice sounding annoyed. “No, its nothing like that,” Wolverine said cutting off Nightcrawler before he could speak. “Please trust us, we understand what you are going through,” Nightcrawler said calmly ignoring Wolverine, “We understand what you are feeling.”
The girl snapped. She sat up and turned viciously to face Kurt, “How can you expect to understand me,” she had started to yell, but when she saw Nightcrawler she stopped. Her jaw fell open and she made an attempt to speak, but was unsuccessful at making any noise. She stared at Nightcrawler in disbelief. He smiled at her kindly. “You see,” he said, “we are in quite a similar situation.”
Wolverine looked at the girl, looked at Nightcrawler and made a disgusted face. He could tell the two mutants would become inseparable. “I am Kurt, also called Nightcrawler,” he pointed at Logan, “And this is Logan, also known as Wolverine.”
“I’m Nerezza,” the girl said looking at Logan.

Event Four:
Before long the three mutants were back in the city, luckily for Kurt and Nerezza no one in the city. They didn’t pass by anyone ether. Nerezza was worried, “What if someone sees us?” She asked Kurt. “No one will,” he said, “We won’t be staying for much longer.”
“We have a car waiting,” Logan said leading the group into an ally-way, “It’s here.” He pulled a dusty tarp and tossed it aside. The silver sports car gleamed dimly in the moonlight. Logan fished out a set of keys from his pocket and unlocked the vehicle. Kurt didn’t feel like waiting for Logan to unlock the other doors and teleported into a backseat with a Bamf noise. Nerezza coughed for a moment on the brimstone smoke that Kurt left behind. She didn’t realize what he had done and turned to ask him a question. “Kurt?” She looked around, confused. “I am in the car,” the blue mutant replied calmly. Nerezza opened the back passenger door she saw Kurt already buckling in. “Wait, how are you in here? Logan just now unlocked the passenger doors?”
“Ah, my mutant ability is teleporting,” Kurt said, “Did you smell that brimstone smoke? That smoke is left behind me when I teleport.”
“Oh, wow, can you carry things with you?” Nerezza asked sitting down next to Kurt. “Well, besides my self and clothing you mean?”
“Yes I guess that’s what I meant...”
“I could carry a person, but not for very far. I never teleport to places I cannot see. I don’t want to accidentally put myself into a wall or a person,” Kurt then added, “Das würde schlecht sein.”
“I get it, hey wait,” She said catching part of what Kurt added, “Do you speak German? Sein is uh... bad in German, right?”
“That’s correct I am from Germany, I’m sure you caught my accent?” Kurt said laughing slightly. Logan sniffed, those two are annoyingly chatty, he thought. He drove out of the city and onto the main freeway. After half an hour Nerezza turned her attention to Logan, who had been very quiet through out the drive. Kurt had decided to sleep; they had about another hour till they arrived at the Xavier Mansion. “Um, Logan,” she said leaning up to talk to him. Logan grunted in acknowledgement. “I was wondering,” she pause unsure of if it was safe talking to the mutant. He scared her, just something about him and she wasn’t sure what it was that bothered her. “You want to know what my powers are,” Logan said dryly. He wasn’t going to answer her questions so he asked them for her. Nerezza swallowed silently, “Yeah, that’s wh-what I wanted to ask. You don’t have to tell me, if you don’t trust me or whatever...”
“I didn’t plan on telling you. You’re somewhat nosey,” Logan said dully and pulled a cigar out of a pocket. He looked for his lighter, but found he had misplaced it. Again, he thought disappointed; I don’t usually lose a lighter twice in one day... Nerezza noted that Logan seemed to be missing a lighter. She looked in her own pockets to see if she still had one of the ones she had once stolen from a small market. “Ah-ha!” She said triumphantly as she found the elusive green lighter. She flicked it to test the flame, it still worked. She offered the lighter to Logan who took it wordlessly. Logan lit his cigar making sure not to actually touch the flame to his precious cigar. He took a long drag and breathed out the smoke through his nose. Nerezza almost laughed, he looks like a bull, a huge bull. She motioned for Logan to keep the lighter when he offered it back. Logan rolled his window down a crack. Nerezza could feel the coldness of the air and shivered slightly. She sat back in her set and glance at Kurt. He snored quietly in his sleep, Nerezza could see his tail twitch. She yawned, what a strange day. I hope I made the right decision in going with these mutants. Although, I guess I’m a mutant too. She yawned again, finding it harder to keep her eyes open... Her ear twitched, she thought she heard Logan speak, but she wasn’t sure. She mumbled something incoherent, and fell asleep.

Event Five:
Logan drove for a few minutes in silence. He turned to tell the girl that the Mansion was only a half hour away, but found her sound asleep. He grumbled to himself for a moment, and reached behind him and poked Kurt. Kurt jumped and almost teleported. “Hey,” he said irritated, “You shouldn’t wake people up when you need to focus on driving.” “Funny,” Logan said sarcastically, “I figured its better to wake you up before we get back.”
“Oh how close are we?”
“Ten, fifteen minutes,” Logan estimated. “Ok, why do I need to be awake?” Kurt yawned. “Well, I’m not going to’ carry the girl up to the extra room.” Logan half laughed. “That’s not fair,” Kurt complained. “Well, she’s your girlfriend,” Logan grinned. “Ha ha,” Kurt frowned, “The big Wolverine can make jokes.”
The two exchanged joking insults until they pulled into the mansions drive way. Logan parked the sports car and grinned. “I hope Scot didn’t need to go anywhere when we were gone. His car’s so nice. I’d hate for him to not be able to take a romantic drive...” He laughed knowing he may have spoiled an evening. “Yes, Wolverine, we all know how you hate borrowing Scot’s cars,” he said, lifting Nerezza carefully. Nightcrawler then bamfed away, with a devilish grin on his face. “Cars?” Logan scowled, “He’s got more than one now? Damn it!”
Event Six:
Nerezza wasn’t sure when she fell asleep, but when she woke, she found herself to be in a bedroom. She grumbled and rolled over, wondering where she had crashed out. Had she found some kind person to let her stay the night? “W-weird dream...” she murmured sleepily, remembering that she had dreamed about mutants- one of them had been blue and fuzzy... “Wait,” She sat bolt upright and felt her face and head. Pointed nose, wolf-ears and a very furry face- she was still a mutant. “It wasn’t a dream. Holy crap,” she breathed heavily. It took her a moment to calm down. Last night wasn’t a dream, so this room she was in must be a part of the “mansion” she heard mentioned a few times. It had never occurred to ask where exactly she was going and why. That was really stupid of me not to ask. For all I know this could be some kind of trick, she thought as she took a closer look at the room. It was a fairly large square room. It looked “normal” enough. She glanced down at the bed, sheets and a thick winter quilt. That was ok- comfy too. There was a dresser to her right; the bed was pushed up to the left corner wall. Directly across from her was a red painted door. There was a plain black, green, and blue patterned rug in the center of the floor. There was a long desk on the wall to her right. The desk had a computer in the top left corner and a pile of clothing on the right. Seeing the computer, Nerezza literally jumped out of the bed and ran to the desk. “It’s a brand new Microsoft computer, who ever owns this is so lucky,” she sighed. She looked over at the clothes and noticed that they were hers only washed. She looked down- “A nightgown? How the hell did I end up with this? Ugh it’s pink... Gross I hate pink.” She hissed and quickly changed. Nerezza took a final glance around and spotted the messy bed. She felt bad about being such a messy sleeper and made it. She folded the horrible pink PJs and placed them on the corner of the bed. She made her way to the red door, opened it and peered out cautiously. If this place really were full of mutants she would need to be careful. She poked her head out the door and looked around. She saw a hall way that was filled with doors on both sides. Nerezza walked out into the hall. She walked cautiously to her left for about five minutes before coming to a large window and dead end. She looked out the window. “Ooh,” she gasped at the sight. She could see a large green sea of grass and trees. She was on the second floor of the building. The sky was bright, not a single cloud. As far as she could tell there was no one out side. She sighed. It’s too bad that I look like this, she thought, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to go out side. People have no doubt that I am a mutant. She turned around and looked down the hall there were about 10 doors before the hall turned to the left. Nerezza walked to the corner of the wall and peered around the corner. She could see a bright hall with a high railing to the left along with a huge red-carpeted staircase. Along the right wall were two columns that stood on ether side of a door. She stepped out into the new stretch of hallway and could clearly see that the door was an elevator. Her jaw dropped. The owner of this place is obviously very rich, she thought. She stood in front of the elevator. It took her a moment to realize that the elevator was odd. When she figured out why it made her even more confused. Odd. It doesn’t have buttons, is it broken? She wondered. Is it that odd? She thought, does it need a button, what if visitors are not supposed to notice the elevator? Wait, she frowned, I wasn’t thinking that. I know I wasn’t I know my eyes are better, but why would I think that visitors aren’t suppose to notice the elevator. That doesn’t seem like me to think that way... She stepped back and glanced around. Go down the stairs, she thought. She turned to face the stairway. Well, I’m not done looking around up here. Go down the stairs, explore later. My head feels funny. It will be fine. It is nothing. She started walking down slowly. I don’t know if I want to go anywhere. Learn more from the rest of this place. What can be learned? Everything about mutants, perhaps? That would be interesting, she agreed with herself. Keep going, no one is around. No one can see. What about Nightcrawler? He could come around any moment- Poof! Would that be so bad? No, I think I really- she half thought. She snapped her head up. She had been walking with out knowing where she was going. This is not right. I don’t feel right. Something is different, she panicked. The door right there, go through it. I don’t want to, she decided. The door leads to somewhere important. I don’t care I it is important. Go on through, it is safe. N-no I don’t like this place... It will be ok, go see the next room. I will not, I am going back... I do not trust this. She turned to go back upstairs but suddenly felt that if she didn’t run through the door something would happen to her. She couldn’t decide what to do. Her mind was so mixed up. Her heart was racing, she couldn’t breathe. The door, her mind suggested again and again. A moment later she found herself in the doorway. She could feel herself shaking and almost panting. “Not me,” she whispered not looking at anything, she had her eyes shut tightly. She was lessoning, trying to hear that other voice in her mind, but it did not speak again. “Not me,” she whispered fearfully and slumped to the ground. “Who thinking for me, as me, but obviously is not me?”
“I was,” called a voice in front of her.

Event Seven:
Nerezza looked up. It was a bald man sitting behind a desk who had spoken to her. She could only see his face from her current position on the floor. She stared at the man. “You are the one who was in my head?” she spoke softly, “You made me come here?”
“I merely suggested you come, you stalled for a long time,” he answered calmly. “Liar. Suggesting is saying, “Hey, why don’t you come here.” You made me think that what you were telling me was my own thoughts.” Nerezza said bitterly. “Not necessarily, I could have made you come down here...” he started to say but changed his mind, “I guess your right, I could have persuaded you differently.”
“You could have,” she said and struggled to her feet. “I apologize for troubling you,” the man said. Nerezza looked at his desk noting that it was very organized, there was in fact hardly anything on it at all. She looked at the man and he stared back calmly. “I am Professor Charles Xavier, I run this institute,” He smiled warmly. Nerezza almost choked. So this is the guy who owns this place! Damn, I wasn’t sure if this place was run by a mutant. Oh shit... he probably heard that. She thought suddenly. Charles laughed openly. “I’m afraid I did, but that’s only because you’re so close and no one else is in here. When there is more than on person near me I tend to block them all out.”
“Other wise you yourself cannot think,” Nerezza grinned. “That’s very observant of you, correct,” he said turning sideways. Professor Xavier rolled around his desk, he was in a wheelchair. He’s handicapped. She thought before adding an alarmed Oops. “It’s ok to be surprised,” he said. “I’m sorry, “she mumbled trying not to offend Xavier. “No, no. Don’t apologize.” He smiled, “How are you doing? Do you feel ok?”
“I-I don’t know,” she frowned, “I feel so weird.”
“It is always difficult for young mutants to accept being a mutant, but it is always harder for mutants who are visually and physically different,” he told her gently. “Like, Nightcrawler?” She asked trying vainly to shield what she was thinking about at the same time. “Yes, like Kurt exactly. He cannot go out in public without being feared by humans,” Charles frowned, “but here, with us, Kurt can be happily accepted as a mutant and a good person too.”
“There are many mutants here, am I right?” She asked. “Yes, this is a school, we find young mutants from all over. We bring them here and teach them what is means to be a mutant and how to control there powers,” Xaiver looked at Nerezza who looked confused. “How did you find me?” She blurted out, “How did you know I was going to be a mutant? You must have known before I did? Other wise you wouldn’t have sent Logan an Kurt after me.”
“Ah, you are very intelligent. You are picking up all of my ‘secrets’ aren’t you?” Xavier said with a grin. “I guess,” Nerezza said, “This building itself holds secrets... What’s down in your basement is a secret, from prying eyes.”
“Correct again,” Xavier’s eyes sparked, “The school located down stairs is hidden as a ‘normal’ school for gifted children and we hid our mutant powers, one never knows when a guest will show up.”
“And you want to keep this mutant-haven top secret from any anti-mutant people.” She wasn’t asking a question. Professor Xavier nodded, “You are one very smart girl. Can’t hide anything from you can I?” He was however still planning on withholding some information from her. Xavier rolled back from the door way. Xavier was going to speak but Nerezza beat him to it. “I smell you Logan!” She stuck her tongue out at him as he opened the door. He glared at her, mockingly. “I guess having a half-wolf nose is a plus, huh doll?” Logan laughed. Nerezza scowled, “Doll? You need to learn how to talk to girls.”
Those two seem close already. Logan doesn’t usually joke with newcomers that quickly, Xavier noted. “I came to tell you that Beast is upgrading the Danger Room. He wanted to know if you would come down,” Logan said. Ah-ha, they have a “Danger Room”, what ever that is, it’s a secret, Nerezza thought with a smile. Nerezza two, Xavier zip! “Thank you, Logan. I’ll come down right away,” Professor Xavier said glancing at the wolf-girl. “You wouldn’t mind waiting to finish this discussion later, would you?”
“Go ahead, I will learn of your secrets later, for now I want to look around on my own.” She smiled devilishly. Charles Xavier was mildly surprised; the girl is very bright, I’m sure by the end of the day she will have learned about all of the X-men. “Have a good time, Nerezza,” he said and rolled out the door, followed by Logan. Nerezza walked out of the professor’s office and shut the door politely.

Event Eight:
It had been a week sense Nerezza Cacciatore had come to the Xavier Mansion. She was able to use the dorm room that she had first woke up in. She even had Internet access! She had been given a week to get used to things before she was told she could take classes. She jumped on the opportunity. She met a few mutants, who were very nice. Nerezza wanted to stay alone for a while. The other mutants didn’t question why she declined to hang out. Nerezza told them she would hang with them later. She knew they understood, and they really did. But in the seven days she had been thinking strange thoughts. The thoughts even invaded her sleep. She was worried. Half the time the thoughts were half formed. The other half of the time it seemed her mind was begging and pleading. Nerezza woke one night, disturbed by a nightmare. Shadows of the strange thoughts clouded her mind. She shook her head to relieve the nervousness she felt. Nerezza couldn’t go back to sleep. She glanced at her glow-clock on the dresser. 2:26 in the morning. She sighed, “This is getting crazy, why am I thinking an dreaming like this? I can’t even clearly understand what I’m thinking...”
... ... ...
Later:
Is it morning now or night? Am I awake or do I sleep? Am I alive or am I dead? I have no senses in this dark world. I cannot see, smell, or hear. An overwhelming fear is growing in my soul. I do not know who I am. Am I an animal or a human? Do I know anything but this growing fear? Why I’m I like this. Why am I stuck in this darkness? I don’t know what to do. Someone wake me from this. Let me out of this fear. Why am I so different? Why am I alone so strange? Is this a punishment for all my sins? Or is this evolution meant to protect me? What am I? I have hurt my self, and others are now bound to me. They wish for me to understand- to learn to be like them. But it is too hard for me. Save me from the blackness of my fears. Tell me and hold me close. Let me know I can trust you. Don’t let me be alone. Guide me – I will listen, I want to learn. Break me away from my fears. Something grows inside of me. I fear it most of all. NO! I loathe it! It is me, but never can be me. If it takes hold of me it will cause pain and suffering. Please don’t let me become that demon. I cannot tell when when I will become weak. I am so afraid. Please help me understand – protect me from myself. Please save me from my pain...
** That's it so far... for any one who bothered to read this: THANK YOU! **
