Beauty is Pain. Reminds me of this Heroclix game I played one time.... For some reason, your fondest Heroclix memories seem to be at my expense. ;D It looks fantastic, though. Cracks me up! All you need is Batman in the background, skipping away and laughing.

Definitely. I can rarely remember laughing as hard during any game as I have at your luck at Heroclix. Guido spent one game....probably...I dunno...45 minutes.... with his no-range, no-flight Hercules trying to catch my leap-over-anything Batman and he patiently carried a dumpster back and forth across the board. As soon as he'd make it up steps or ladders to the roof of wherever I was I'd move and he'd have to climb back down.... Everybody else was fighting someone on the board with their characters, but not him. He was determined to take out Batman if he had to carry a dumpster for a month to do it. Very funny. But not nearly as funny as the look on his face when I introduced my shiny new Flash to his hide-in-back-and-shoot-everybody-else-safely Cyclops. Now that was hysterical.

I put up quite a few images here, obviously. There are quite a few more as I test and put things together that never go anywhere beyond a random few I might show Gambit or something. For instance, I must've rendered my work-in-process Logan in his Wolverine suit about 50 times today. It's just not ready. It might never be. But all of this stuff is just about learning and getting better at it and he gets closer all the time. I've really tried to give characters something distinct...something recognizable (in the case of the recognizable characters)...sometimes something different that sets them apart and makes it clear that it's "our" version and not exactly the one in comics or a movie or a cartoon. My hope is that Wanda doesn't look the same as Callie who doesn't look the same as Ororo or Sapphire or anyone else. Not just in coloration but in the structure of their faces and any number of other tiny details. Because of that, I've tried very hard to reuse as little as possible...be it a piece of clothing, a texture map, a pose or a hairstyle. Sometimes I can't help it. Sometimes I choose not to. Odd situation this weekend...with two new OC characters to think about. Both 17. Both redheads. Lots to consider. How to make them distinct from each other and everything else I've done before. What kinds of things are unique about them. What would evoke the character described not only in their physicality but their personality as well....same as I've done with any of the other more well-known characters. So anyway, I started thinking about Tara (Luna) after I got enough done on Tiffany (Infern-O-Wisp) to know what to steer away from. I haven't made it very far...and I haven't talked to Larza at all about her character...but I've read her bio and her intro a number of times looking for inspiration. I assembled some pieces...did some preliminary shaping on her face....tried to find what hairstyles I have available that will work for hair as long as Tara has. Basically, just two. Actually...three now that I think of it. One - the one I'd gravitate to first because of the way she's described - I already used before. So I need to make it different. Unfortunately, it isn't cooperating much. But in the process I chose a piece of clothing I haven't used before - a very simple long-sleeved shirt - and did some work with it that is a very distinct move in a direction I haven't done much with yet. I think it's kind of cool. So rather than throw them out, I saved a couple of the test images and thought I'd show them off anyway.

For comparison's sake...here's the same image as the first one in the post above only without all of the texture, specularity and transparency maps applied. Pretty easy to see what I mean by "simple shirt" when you look at it that way.

O.O *hug* So pretty! Awesome! ^_^ (I'm trying not to squeal in RL, as it'd screw up my voice even more right now....Heh.) I think the top one, with the hair down, in her face like that, is more "Tara" to me. I usually picture her with her hair in her face, the whole "emo-hair" thing. ;D And the shirt is *awesome*. Very nice. Only li'll thing is that her eyes are supposed to be a little bluer, a tealish color, but it's still nice with the green. Eeee, thanks for takin' the time on my person! *hug*

It could be "elmo hair" but I think it'd need to be more red.

'Sfunny because I had her hair like that to begin with from the moment I put her together and I kept trying to get length to it but keep it out of her face. Silly me.
