Do we all get Sapphire in a bikini if we’re helpful? ;D
After readin’ the conversation with Kenny in the Random Junk thread, I figured this was the best place to post this. It specifically applies to what was said there, but it’s a good practice for everyone.
Good writing, I’m talking proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation, is something that takes practice. Don’t save it only for the posts you think matter; practice it everywhere. Posting an OOC comment? Make sure you capitalize your “I”s and the first words in your sentences, that there are proper sentences, and that it makes sense. I know I shouldn’t talk about proper writin’ in ooc, as I often use a dialect, but it’s only because I’m perfectly comfortable with my writing skills and wanna throw more of my voice in there when I’m just chattin’. Had to get to that point first, though.
Also, make sure you take your time and reread everything you write, even if it is just a throwaway comment. If you want to interact with people, then you’re not only writin’ for yourself. Think about what you write. Does it make sense? Does it need interpretation to make sense? If that’s the case, people are often likely to ignore it. If they don’t understand what you’re saying, how can they respond?
A lot of this is reiterating what Beast and Sapphire have already said, but I guess I just like to hear the sound of my own voice. ;D Just get it into your mind that there are no throwaway posts, and that everything you write should live up to the same standard, a standard set by even the top writers. Also, it never hurts to read as much as you can of what’s goin’ on around here. It’s easier to get involved if you know what’s goin’ on to get involved in. Also, it gives you exposure to different writing styles, and how proper grammar and sentence structure works. Don’t copy anyone’s writing, but it can’t hurt to have yours resemble the others in the ways of what is capitalized and what isn’t and where punctuation goes.
Some random advice inspired by Random Junk.

So I'm thinking.... Gambit sure is being helpful. But he's a selfish, egotistical so-and-so. And, in typical admin fashion what he had to say was really more rules than helpful tips anyway, but still.... He must want something. What could it possibly be? I thought about it all afternoon but I can't think of what it might be. Oh, well. I'm sure it will come to me.

dear god man! If the poor girl's not taped into that thing she must be scared of moving lest she falls out of it.
(p.s. she looks awesome)

Oh, believe me...I know. Getting her to stay in the thing wasn't particularly easy...! Sometimes, sacrifices must be made for the greater good.
