Known Family: Jean-Luc LeBeau (adoptive father), Henri LeBeau (adopted brother)
History: (Note: Not much is known about Remy’s past, but as it is revealed in the game, it will be posted here).
Jean-Luc Lebeau, leader of the Thieves Guild in New Orleans, adopted Remy and raised him as a thief. Through this, he earned the nickname “Le Diable Blanc” due to his demonic eyes. At the age of 15, his younger cousin, Etienne, was killed, and to this day Remy still blames himself for this tragic event.
At the age of 18, Remy was banished from the Thieves Guild and he drifted from place to place before being recruited by Magneto as an Acolyte. On his first mission with this new team, he faced off against an X Man known only as Rogue. Though the first meeting was one of enemies, Remy made sure there were others, on more friendly terms. They began a relationship, which was quickly ended during the human’s first attack on the mansion. But when Magneto moved his Acolytes in with the X Men, to form one team, feelings could not be denied, and Gambit and Rogue eventually reconciled.
As Wolverine headed a fated mission into enemy waters, Gambit was one of the not so lucky team members. He managed to get his hands on some useful information involving the new threat against mutants, the Sentinels, but that was the only good thing about the mission. Directly following Wolverine’s “death”, Gambit took it upon himself to lead the remaining team home, despite a pretty serious injury.
Upon returning, he took the brunt of the backlash from the grieving X Men, namely Storm and Taela. Guilt ridden, and self loathing, he locked himself in his room, tending to his own wounds, until Rogue returned.
And that brings us to now. The Sentinels recently attacked the mansion. Remy, seeing Rogue in mortal danger, threw himself in the way, effectively saving her, but landing himself in a coma. A week has passed, and still no change...
In what could be considered a Christmas miracle, Gambit awoke from his coma on Christmas morning, but things weren’t as he remembered them. He wasn’t as he remembered. His powers had evolved, although at this point, he didn’t know just how far. He was now able to kinetically charge objects, simply by looking at them, by wanting it to happen. These new powers also appeared to create a force field of sorts that counteracted Rogue’s powers, allowing them to touch. But it appeared their relationship problems were more than skin deep.
But before any of these problems could be explored, a frightening event caused the Cajun to flee from the mansion and pursue a life of solitude. During a fight with Mystique, one more aspect of this power surge was revealed. He could now kinetically charge organic material as well. Although he was able to reverse the charge he accidentally placed on the very molecules of Mystique’s body, he was shaken and chose to leave before he could hurt anyone else. His powers were out of control, and he needed time to think.
Holing himself up in a hotel under a pseudo name, Remy had little time to try to think of a solution. It seemed fate had more in store for him. One night, on his way back to the hotel, he was attacked in an alley by a gang of thugs. Losing control, he quickly disposed of the gang, leaving and unidentifiable mess of gore behind. Greatly affected by this, he decided to return to the Acolytes, and seek help from Magneto. But before he could, one last loss of control caused him to charge the very ground around him. And then everything went black...
