Paige fell into comfort mode, rubbing Christine's back as Kurt might have done had he been here. "It's okay, liebs," she, he, said, trying to soothe the other girl. Hurry back, Jono.
Gabriel was too in shock at his own behavior to protest his treatment of Jono.
Phillip walked over to the alcohol table and came back with a stiff brandy for Christine. "Drink, 'Tina."

Jonothon got Gabriel out of the room, then threw him up against a wall. The telepath glared at him.
"Wot the bleedin' 'ell is wrong with yer? She's here with her fiancee, yer great gormless git! And then yer punch him! Kurt and Christine are real good friends of mine, and now I'm really in the mood t' kick yer arse all over the bloody island!"
He drew his clenched fist back as if to punch Gabriel again.
"Be back as soon as I leave this bastard bleeding on the corridor floor, luv."

Gabriel stared wide eyed and fainted.
Christine took the brandy and sipped it slowly, trembling.
Phillip removed his jacket and draped it over Christine's shoulders. "Shh, 'Tina, Gabe's gone."

Jonothon stared at the unconscious noble with contempt, and snorted before kicking the man in the side. Steel capped boot met flesh with a dull thud. Gabriel would have a very large bruise in the morning.
"Ponce."
He let his mind roam a little farther out.
"Moira, Gabby fainted. Where should I put him? Just dump him outside in the parking lot? He looks awful untidy in the corridor."

How about the gutter? Moira responded, comforting Anne. Anne didn't deserve to have those two as sons, well, Gabriel as a son since Phillip wasn't as bad.
"And Mother wonders why I want to kill Gabriel," Phillip snorted.

"I'll find a nice wet ditch," JOnothon promised.
He picked up the unconscious man by the scruff of his neck and dragged him outside. True to his word, Jonothon found somewhere that would be singularily unpleasant for Gabriel to wake up in.
Rubbing his scraped knuckles over the place where his mouth would have been behind the bandages, some habits too ingrained not to do, he walked back into the ball room. People drew back from him as he walked over to Christine.
"Yer feeling any better, ducks?"

"Just scared," Christine said, trembling slightly before Phillip removed his jacket and slipped it around her shoulders.
"Let's retreat to another room," Phillip said, grabbing a bag of ice and tossing it to Paige.

"Well, this has been a smashing sucess," Jonothon said dryly.
"Get yerself back together, gel. Don't let 'em see how much it shook yer."

"Stiff upper lip, Tina," Phillip said. "I'll get you a pint of that Hagan-Daaz flavor of yours if you do," he said, shamelessly tempting her.
Christine stuck her tongue out at him for a split second before calming down.

"Kurt, if yer would be so kind as ter escort yer fiancee out of the room...I'll go find her sister," Jonothon said, looking at Paige/Kurt.
"Yer alright, pet?" he sent to her privately.

Phillip gave me the pack of ice she, he, answered, running her, his, tongue over her, his, teeth. None loose, thank goodness
As Kurt she, he, nodded and started to walk out of the room, letting Christine lean heavily on her, him. "Lean on me."
"I hope you saved a piece of my brother for me," Phillip said, looking at Jono.

"He fainted before I hit him again," Jonothon said in contempt.
"God, wot a nancyboy. He's sleeping in a very cold puddle at the moment."

"Okay, from now on, he wears the dress and sings at the top of his lungs the bawdy songs. I'll take the Lordship," Phillip muttered. "And again, I wonder if I'm the result of Mom sleeping with someone outside the family stick."

"Yer not actually insane, I can tell," Jonothon said bluntly.
"Why the hell do something like that anyway?"

"Because everyone expects the Pembrokes to be insane," Phillip said, rolling his shoulders. "We're the worst inbred family next to the royals and that's saying something," he added.
"Besides, best way to keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn't go off and do something stupid. Girl never learns," Phillip continued, gesturing at the retreating noblewoman. "'Oh let's go explore that cave, Phillip. I promise I'll be careful,'" he said in perfect falsetto. "Then, bam, nearly breaks her ankle after she slips."
