"I got the point, Rainy," he said, using the nickname he gave her when they were children. "And would you stop with the pulling? I don't want to give any of the ritzy nobles something to talk about. Bad enough I have to do this to take some attention away from Gabriel but this is not something I enjoy doing."
He sighed. "Just get me back to the car. I have my tux in there."

Rahne sat back on her haunches and looked at him, slightly confused. Then yawned, got up again and padded towards the car that was his.
If he didn't want to do it, then why do it?

He gave the large red wolf a look. "C'mon, Rainy," he said. "You know how much attention is heaped on Gabriel since he's the future Lord Pembroke. If I want any - I have to do something like that."

Rahne gave him a look that was the canine equivalent of a raised eyebrow.
Why would anyone want attention anyway? And why go about it in exactly *that* way? And he was causing his mother a great deal of heart break.

"Got yer, Chris."
Jonothon 'felt' outwards and found Paige's mind.
"Sunshine? They're ready fer yer now, pet."

"I'm the ignored son, Rainy," he said, scratching behind her left ear, knowing that irritated her. "And besides, we're supposedly the most inbred family - so why not put on a show for the whole world to see." He grinned slightly. "Now, you are going to close your eyes so I can change, right?"
~~
Paige nodded to herself and stepped into the room where the party was being held. Her, his, gaze swept the room, trying to find Christine. "Here goes," she, he, murmured in a husky German voice.

Rahne snorted. Then turned her head and nipped none too gently at his fingers to warn him not to get too familar.
The cheek.
So he could get changed, she turned the opposite way, flopped to the ground then put one paw across her eyes theatrically.

Phillip laughed. "Got the warning, Rainy," he said, grinning slightly. He quickly removed his mother's nightgown and switched into the upper half of the tux and slipped on a kilt in the Pembroke colors. "You can look now," he said as he adjusted his sporran.

Rahne stood and then turned slightly to look at him. The wild eyes of the wolf registered faint approval, then she whined softly.
They had to get back inside. Besides, she needed to get back in her dress now. And Christine had been left alone with Gabriel.

"Eyes are closed. Go change," Phillip said. "Although I suppose my offering to help would get me bitten." He smirked slightly.
~
Gabriel dipped Christine again as they continued to dance, before pulling her close and kissing her.
"Excuse me," Paige said, choosing that time to cut in. "But I'd appreciate it if you didn't kiss her." She, he, radiated an aura of "don't touch my girl."

Rahne bared her teeth at him, then tossed her head in a snooty manner as she started to jog back to the main buildings in a bit of a huff.
Let him watch indeed!

Phillip shook his head slightly. She was so easy to bait sometimes. She really should know better. He sighed and headed indoors to spy his brother decking Paige, er, Kurt. "Shite!" ~~ Christine stared at Gabriel, fear in her blue eyes. Jono! Mum! Rahne!

Jonothon turned just in time to see Paige/Kurt get punched in the face by Gabriel. The look in his brown eyes turned deadly and with a few quick stride across the room, the streetbred Brit punched Gabriel in the face, sending the noble reeling backwards. Jonothon then grabbed the lapels of the man's coat to keep him upright and headbutted him. There was a sickening crack, but Jonothon's eyes didn't so much as cross.
"Toffs don't have any bleeding manners at all. Want me to chuck him out, Chris?"

Anne winced from where she stood. "Oh, God, Gabriel, you really need to learn," she muttered to herself.
Christine nodded, still shaken from the encounter. "P-Please," she whimpered.

Jonothon jerked Gabriel's arm up behind his back to frogmarch him out of the room. He was feeling quite unforgiving. The man had punched his girlfriend (even if she did appear male at the moment) and continually harassed another female friend of his. His temper, usually none too stable as it was, was past volcanic and into nuclear.
"Right, let's go, cobber. Move it."
He pushed Gabriel towards the door, the startled party guests moving out of the way with scandalised shock on their faces.
