Christine walked into Medbay later that evening after her night of Goth with Jono. She had been sure to remove all trace of make-up from her face. Parts of her goth outfit lay on the floor of her room as pieces of ash.
She walked over to a chair and sat down in it. She debated on lighting the cig she had picked up during one trip down town. A smoke would be good about now to settle her nerves but she hated the smell.
She hoped it would be Hank that came. Explaining to her mother why she wanted the Pill and why she wanted to be examined would probably not end very well. Besides, it seemed that Hank was one of the few people who remembered what happened and she didn't feel like telling too many people what had transpired.
She could feel the phantom touches of a man's unwelcomed hand tracing patterns on her skin and she barely hid the shudder.

He felt somewhat better as he stepped back into the lab with his fresh cup of coffee. The chance to stretch his legs and give his body any kind of nourishment had been a luxury he hadn't felt able to afford for some time. As far as Henry McCoy was concered, the clock was ticking and if he didn't find a solution to the problem of Bamf's genetic instability soon....
well...
He just had to find one.
Still, he looked somewhat worn and disheveled as he crossed the room and was surprised to find he had a visitor.
"Christine..!", he said with some surprise in his voice. "It's good to see you. What can I do for you?"

Christine looked up at Hank, her head having been bowed earlier. She brushed her bangs out of her eyes and she looked ashamed of something. "I was wondering if you could give me a check up and maybe give me some paper work on... on the pill," she said, the words forcing their way out.
She closed her eyes tightly and waited for Hank's reaction. She had a feeling it wouldn't be a good one.

He wasn't sure what he would have expected if he knew she had been waiting for him, but this wasn't it.
Henry's eyebrows went up in spite of him.
"Are you...?", he started to ask and then stopped. It wasn't just the request itself that surprised him, it was the fact that of all the people around Christine was the last one he expected would need birth control. It wasn't her age and it wasn't that she was an unattractive young lady. It was that Henry...everyone, really....knew that Christine had been very much in love with someone who was now dead.
He didn't expect her to be ....well, "seeing"...anyone else.
He took a seat next to her.
"Have you spoken to your mother about this?", he asked her quietly.

Christine barely hid the cringe at the thought of telling her mother why she was going on the pill. "Mum doesn't know about the Black Queen - and I don't want her to know what happened. I don't want Mum to know about what Mastermind did," she said, feeling sick. "How can I tell my mother that someone took advantage of me like that?"

Henry shook his head swiftly and blinked at her. He was having a very hard time keeping up with what she was talking about.
"What happened with the Hellfire Club was not your fault", he said after a few moments' hesitation. "I'm certain your mother would only want what's best for you."
But the other part of what she said had him puzzled.
"Christine....if you're concerned about what might have happened then a few simple tests will clear up any doubts.", he said. "Taking birth control now would only be useful if you were to have...."
Henry stopped. He cleared his throat.
"...if you were planning to be close to someone.", he said without making eye contact.

"Could we do the tests?" she asked softly, looking at him. She paused and tilted her head. "I know Kurt's still out there somewhere, and if he is, and if he remembers me and still has feelings for me... I want to be prepared for if we take the next big step in a relationship - if we still can have one."
She blushed shyly at the thought of being reunited with Kurt.

"Christine...", Henry said kindly, not wanting to be the one having this conversation. "Kurt died. He isn't coming back."
Guilt flashed in Henry's mind.
"I...tried.", he had trouble admitting. "I tried but I failed."
He looked at her with deep sadness in his eyes.
"He's gone.", he said in a dry whisper.

Christine looked at Hank, not wanting to believe it. "Maybe the Kurt from our version of the world is - but who's to say that there isn't another version. Just because one is dead doesn't mean all of them all," she said, her voice breaking, and tears streaking down her cheeks.

Henry's eyes filled with tears. He put an arm around her shoulder in an attempt to be comforting.
"Christine...", he said softly, not knowing what else to say.
"You can't live your life looking for a chance like that...", he told her in very soft tones. "The chances are much better that what we know now will remain the same."
He blinked and the welled-up tears fell from his eyes.
"The universe will continue to stabilize.", he said with strong conviction in his words. "If it hasn't happened by now, then...."
He let his words drift off.

Christine didn't say anything for the longest time. She just sat there, trying not to shudder from the unease she felt about being touched, and trying not to cry from the pain and the loss she felt.
"It's all my fault then," she whimpered softly.

Henry looked at her once more with surprise.
"Your fault?", he asked her. "What is your fault?"

"If Phoenix hadn't broken it, and I hadn't repaired it, none of this would have happened," she whimpered. "Everything would be as we remember it, Hank. All my fault."

Henry shook his head. He spoke softly. "You said it yourself. You repaired it. And what was done to Kurt had nothing at all to do with you. You didn't cause it, and you couldn't have helped it."
He pulled her gently a little closer to him with the arm he held around her shoulder.
"You can't blame yourself for not being there.", he told her.

"I guess," Christine said quietly. "Hank," she asked, looking up at him. "Is it true? Was it Victor that killed him?" She was trying her hardest not to cringe in fear of having a man touch her.
