Pete stood up from the bed. He pulled a cigarette out of his breast pocket and tucked it behind his ear for future reference. "You alright now? I'll get outta yer hair, if ya want to go back to sleep."

Christine gave him an odd look before chuckling. "You have a point there," she said quietly. "I think I'll try to sleep again," she added. "And Pete, thanks."

Pete smiled to her over his shoulder as he walked out her bedroom door. "No problem."
He popped his cigarette in his mouth after closing the door behind him. At a relaxed pace, Pete went back to his room, humming that old drinking song to himself.

Christine curled back up and she slowly drifted back to sleep - hopefully, the dream wouldn't come back. She didn't want to deal with it again.
