With the damage to the plane interfering with its control, coupled with the inexperience of the pilot, Gambit decided that landing square on the front lawn was their best bet. He didn’t want to even attempt to try to land it in the hanger.
After the shaky landing, he opened the back and side hatches, before climbing out. Fastening the front of his duster to hide the large gash on his side that had already soaked through the bandage, he stepped up to the front door. Swinging it open, he walked in, a shell of the man that had left there the night before. The early morning light filtered through the open door, making the entrance seem beautiful and peaceful.
It jus’ ain’t right. How can everyt’in’ seem so normal, after what happened?
But there was no answer. As the other two entered behind him, they all stood in silence, staring at the floor.

Storm had just drifted off to sleep in her position in the window, when a rumbling noise startled her awake. Seeing the Blackbird returning home, she jumped to her feet, wincing as the movement seemed to send pins and needles up her numb limbs.
Logan has finally returned! I was beginning to lose hope! When I see him, I do not know whether to hug him, or hit him! she thought, smiling.
Breathing a sigh of relief, she rushed from the room, and didn’t waste time by walking down the stairs. Flying down to the entrance, she stopped midair at the sight that greeted her. Guido, Pyro and Gambit stood in the doorway, looking like they had been through hell and back. As she scanned the faces, the one she most wanted to see was the one that was not there.
“Where is Logan?” she asked, as she came to a landing before the three men. None of them would meet her eyes. None except Gambit. Locking eyes with him, she took a deep breath.
“Remy?”<br> OOC: Shall we begin the new thread?

Hearing a voice, Gambit looked up to find one of the few people that he least wanted to see.
How do I tell her? Well, it be better ta tell her alone, den wit’ a whole group.
“Why don’ we go have a seat over dere?” Gambit said, gesturing to the bench at the other side of the hall. He tried to avoid her eyes, as the raw fear he saw in them was enough to break his heart. Reaching out, he laid a hand on her shoulder, and led her away from the other two.
(OOC: Sure t’ing, Stormy! We’re gonna branch off inta a side convo, jus’ de two o’ us, so if de rest o’ you wanna continue in dis one, de main one, den dat’d be great! Good luck wit’ everyone else, Guido an’ Pyro!)

Christine ran down the steps from her dorm room, eager to hug her father. She was always worried when he went off on those missions without telling her like that - especially after her nightmares. She felt safer when he was nearby. She paused midstep and saw he wasn't there. "Where's Dad?"

(OOC: I'm coming in from 'chow time', so...hehe.)
Larza frowned adn slipped over to the plane, which had landed on the lawn.
She knew someone wasn't coming back, having sensed the grief and guilt from before they'd even gotten back, so she wasn't as shocked, she bet, as the others.
Upon seeing her own team-mates, she felt slightly relieved, yet guilty for feeling relieved.
She frowned and tentivly offered a faintly reassuring smile to Chris, before going over closer to the plane's entrance.
"What happened?" she murmered, tugging on her left glove nervously. She'd managed to block her empathy again, for a time, so that she wouldn't be over-run, but she was still aware of how upset everyone was.

Christine just stood there - in shock. Where was Logan? He had told her he'd be back before anyone knew he was missing. Where was he?

Feeling the mental blocks she'd set up wearing thin around the 'edges', Larza flinched at the weight of the grief around the area.
'Mabe I should've let Matt tell me later.' she mused, but kept her expression even.
She looked over at Chris again. The other girl hadn't moved. Larza was doubtful that she'd even blinked.
Never having been one to handle probblems very well, she was at a loss of how to help these people. Obviously the survivors would be traumatized, maybe more than the others.
She sighed, then tenitvly out a hand on Chris's shoulder.
"It'll be alright." she murmered.

"My father's dead... how can it be all right?" she asked, brokenly. "He promised me he'd come home.. He promised me!"

She nodded. "I know." she said, her grey eyes darkening into a misty blue. "It'll never be the same, but you'll be okay."
She felt incredibly out of place there. Infact, she'd never felt more out of place in her life. But she knew she had to help somehow.

Toad came around the corner and spotted the two rude chicks who had given him the cold shoulder the other day. He was about to say something snooty when he noticed that they were crying.
Doing his best attempt at being a sensitive guy, he came up and raised a finger, preparing to say something. Then he snapped his jaw shut. No-that doesn't sound right...
He just stood there and watched them while figuring out what to say. They didn't seem to be acknowledging his presence at all. Finally he just threw caution to the wind and spoke up.
"Was everyone watchin the same chick flick or sumthin?"

"Logan's dead, Toad. He's not coming back!" Christine yelled, dropping to her knees. She started to cry again, burying her face in her hands. "My father's dead!"

Larza's eyes flashed as she turned to face Toad.
"This is no time for your jokes." she hissed, sounding remarkably like Magneto.
She gave Chris an 'I'll-be-right-back' look, then dragged Toad aside.
"Logan died on the mission." she told him, her grey-blue eyes sharp. "And I'm sure Chris didn't appreciate that comment."
She looked back over towards the BlackBird, marviling that she was this upset, and then looked back to the mutant infront of her.
"So unless you're helping or volnteering to be our target practice, don't fool around."

Toad was literally stunned into speechlessness as Larza pulled him aside. "Say...what?" He didn't really know hairy and scary, but he knew that Logan was loved and adored around the school. And I thought the dude could heal himself up.
For once in his life, Toad did the right thing. In a soft voice he said. "I'm sorry, yo." And he turned to leave Christine alone, a tear in his eye as he walked away.
Man if that tough guy Logan can kick it, what about the rest of us? Fear shot through his heart like an arrow.

Larza nodded as she saw Toad leave, at least slightly affected for once.
She turned back to Chris, kneeling beside the crying girl, offering what little comfort she could.

Christine just wept quietly, burying her face in her hands. Logan had been there for her since she was ten - it hurt not having him around for them and her. He had been one of the few ones the Phoenix respected - hell, even came close to loving.
