<skip about 15-20 minutes, what with the dragging, and the slumping of me against a tree, and teh medical attention she would give her bulletwounds at last, and then this post>
The boys hand suddenly snapped out from where he lay slumped near a tree in teh woods. A small squek came from a rodent in his hand, and then the sound of liquid hitting the forest floor. The boy sat up, a headless mouse in his left hand, then his left hand was to his mouth. The mouse slid down the plastic tubing still lining his esophogus(sp) without him even chewing, not that he could have, with the tubing. Then he noticed the safe one was not in his imediate sight, and he tried to get up to search for it, not realizing he could have more easily turned his head around to see it.
His legs gave out before he was standing all the way up. He had worked them too hard on not enough sleep or food for too long. At least, not enough natural sleep.

Taela looked up from behind the creature, where she had been examining her leg. She got up and limped over. "Good, you're awake. It gets far too cold here at night, we can't stay here long." She realized that both of them now had only one wing, because Taela could not draw in her injured wing. She nudged him with her muzzle. "Can you get up?" She looked slightly worried. Staying outside with the cold and her injuries would not be good. The creature didn't have her fur, and even with her fur she barely kept warm the previous night outside.

As he fell back down to the ground, he heard the safe one make some noises behind him. Though he didn't conciously understand what she said at all, somewhere deep in his mind the single word 'cold' sprung a trap. His thoughts ocne again jumped back to repeating must find warm over and over again, and is remaining skeleton wing became a small fire, about the size of a campfire, nothing more than a welcome heat source. The boy turned hsi head around to look at the dragonfox's face with the helpless expression one migth expect from an infant who had just thrown their ball a few feet away from where he sat, one bare foot in the skin of the inside of the opposite knee.
(ooc now that I think about it, hes not wearing anything more than my analogy would be either!
gotta go for the night, Blessed Christmas all!)

Taela was surprised when the creature's wing began to flame. She sighed and shrugged to herself. "Better than before." She noticed a low-hanging strong branch above the creature, hanging just in the rising heat from the fire. Leaping up, she settled on it, curling her tails around her for added warmth. A quick scan of the surroundings yielded no threats, so she put her head down and promptly fell asleep.

The boy saw the safe one fall asleep, and mimiced the position, trying hard to keep close to it. He eventually fell back asleep, but it was not peacefull for him, his mind struggled to return itself to a normal condition, how it used to be, or at least a functional one. Thougth swirled around, not really thoughts, but communication between other parts of his brain, forming some very different subconcousnesses, each one with a different function, each one independant, each one relying directly one the others.
I am? what am I? Does it matter? What are the others? do they really matter? what are they?
and other similar thoughts swirled around in each of these separate 'minds' untill each one was fullly selfaware, and fully independant. Then they knew eachother.
Sometime in the morning, The boy stirred, droll having seeped out of his open mouth through the night. Two huge green eyes blinked once to take in his surroundings, then they blinked again. His wing had long since stopped burning, and had returned to its normal skeleton form.
All at once he was on his feet, crounced down, clawhands spread, eyes and ears intent on a single point just out of sight in the bushes. Soemone in his head pushed the hunter out of the way, and the boys left hand and wing were desperatly shook the safe one in an attempt to wake it, while his head never swayed from place. Then Communicator was gone, and Hunter was back, slowly moving toward the point, he never blinked while watching it, as though if he blinked, it would kill him..

Taela was startled into waking by being shaken. Her first reaction was to bite, but she quickly remembered where she was and snapped out at air instead of the skeletal limbs. She noticed the creature staring out at something past the bushes. Rising carefully, she stood on the branch, all senses prepared for an attack if it was something malevolent. She tensed, trying to figure out just what had the creature so worried.

*sniff*THERE Hunter told the others in the boys brain. Then teh boy lunged forward at the bushes, and a feral roar, of anger as much as it was of pain ripped the air from the where a small bush had once stood. Now that bush lay in a heap on kindling on the ground, and a fox in its place was spinning on its hind legs to bite at where only a second ago something had lacerated its back. Then it was halfway to the safe one from where it had been, but on its back, landing with a loud thump on the ground. A bit of blood was on its tooth. And teh boys arm had a bitmark on it, but only one of the fox's teeth had punctured the skin.

Taela froze in shock. A wild fox! She was worried, overjoyed, and angry at the same time. She leapt off the branch and put herself between the creature and the injured fox. Not caring about the pain, she shifted herself into a form that appeared to be a overly large wild fox, save for a patch of injured flesh on her shoulder. Carefully examining the wild one, she sniffed his wounds. He appeared to have only the slash on his back. From the back of her mind, her animalistic mind stepped forward, communicating with the wild one that she would care for its new wounds, despite the fact its attacker was right behind her. She licked its wounds to show she meant no harm, and the wild one relaxed, accepting her care and offering itself as a companion, provided she protected it from the 'vicious one.' Taela nodded, then turned to the creature, she growled slightly, motioning with posture and tail that the creature was not to harm the wild fox further. With an annoyed snort, she began to walk off, lifting the wild fox onto her back and following the trail back towards the school. She knew that even with this new burden, the trip was almost over, perhaps only a few more hours yet to go. This little one needs a name. I'll think of something as we walk. She glanced back, making sure the creature was following her.

What? but... That was going to be BREAKFAST! screamed yet another entity inside the boys mind.
Pain simply followed teh two fox creatures, examining his slightly bleeding arm and relishing in the pain it sent through the boys body. Hunter told the screaming one to shut up, Youll wake the sleeper he warned.
As they walked, Hunter kept wanting to attack the smaller fox again, but the rest wouldn't let him. He did, however, stop to raid a rabbit hole of a few fledgeling hares, and the boy gorged on that. Blood trickled down his chest, and more stained his back. Mainly it was dried of his own, from when his wing had been severed, but alot of it was human as well, and the freshest was from the two hares he had just eaten, though he still could not actually swollow, and that bothered everyone.

Taela snorted and shook her head. The smell of all that blood is going to attract every predator for miles. I'm just glad I'm finally out of demonfox form, so I can't smell it anymore. He is starting to reek, though. I'll have to get him to take a bath or something when we get back. Taela wrinkled her nose and walked a bit faster, eager to get back to the school. "Just a few more miles. We'll be there in no time." She said to no one in particular, knowing the fox did not understand english and the creature understood diddlysquat of what she had to say. "Hmm... what's a good name for a fox?" She mused to herself. "Of course! I'll call you Kurama. You're cute just like the character, who was a fox demon. Do you like that name?" She asked the fox in the 'wild tongue' as she called it. It nodded, seeming to like the new name. She glanced back every now and then to make sure she hadn't lost the creature. She hoped it noticed she had picked up the pace a bit.

The boy noticed they had begun moving faster, but still thought they were moving slowly. The fact that he ganerally moved 4 times as fast as any other thing never occured to him. What do we do now? It hasn't bothered to even look back in awhile He trusted it, but can we? Where is it taking us? We need to get this blood off him. Hunter, can you hear anything? ...... ..... .... ... .. . No stream, but their is stagnant water about ten minutes further this way. It seems to be three large lakes, close together. Would it eb safe to use that water then? We aint gonna drink it. How bad could it be? Infection. But i'll take care of that, if it comes to.Pain said, referenceing the scabed over bite mark on his arm.
Should we speed up? get to the water before them? NO, we give it no reason to think we are anything more then we were when it met us. And what if it leadin gus into a trap. It can't be, he trusted her. Quite, youll wake Sleeper. And teh 4 turned to examine a sleeping baby, at least, thats what it appeared to be to them.

Taela grinned when she read the street signs. Knowing that they were almost close enough to the school she could have smelled it in her demonfox form. Turning back, she looked at the creature, which appeared to be deep in thought. "Aye, now! Almost there! Let's go for a bit of run now, alright?" She made sure Kurama was secure before beginning to trot, testing her injured leg. Finding that it did not pain her much, she began to run. She loved running in animal forms. She glanced back to make sure the creature didn't fall behind. Kurama complained that his back still hurt, but Taela assured him that they would be home soon. If it weren't for this blasted injury I'd just glide the rest of the way back. She thought. She just hoped she could heal up quickly once she got some decent food in her. Wonder if they'll let me keep Kurama inside, or if I'll have to get him a den outside.

The boy loped into a mild jog, but was startled when teh ground suddenly hit his ffet hard. he jumped back. After a minute, he broke into his full run, almost 10 miles an hour. An inhuman speed. Passing the two fox creatures up in an instant, he crested the final hill to the mansion, and ran directly into the fence. A few wires came lose as his hands cut them free, but on the hole, he merely bounced back onto the ground, to see tiny grey lines cris-crossing the sky above him. And a large grey bar above that. he was back on his feet in a second, looking back to see the two foxes about midway up the hill.

Taela ran up to the creature, who seemed confused about the fence. Noting the damage, she laughed and led him around to the front gate. Pushing it open, she sighed with relief to be back. She happily trotted up the lane to the front entrance.
