Mystique stepped into Magneto’s office without knocking again. This time he was nowhere to be found. He’s been so busy lately that I have hardly seen him in the past couple of days. She slid the duffle bags out from under the couch. We’ve all been busy.
She hefted the bags up to Magneto’s desktop and unzipped them, laying the grenade launchers and phosphorous grenades out in a neat row. Though there was no sign of Storm coming yet, she knew that the woman would be here any minute. She could see that protecting spirit on her and knew that if it involved protecting the students here it was the top priority.
She looked in the mirror at herself. The fact that Logan was so missed made it so much more apparent to her that she was a lonely person. Nobody would miss her for a second if she disappeared. Without thinking her shape changed to Logan’s. White t shirt, wild hair, crazy side-burns and that generally untamed look. She just stared at his appearance in the mirror, totally lost in a depressing line of thought.
“Nobody would notice my absence at all."

Storm was wondering down the hallway in search of Mystique when she heard a voice, an all too familiar voice, emanating from one of the rooms.
I am just hearing things. It couldn’t be… she though, all thoughts of the blue shape shifter quickly leaving her head as she stepped up to the half open door. Pushing it open the whole way, she gasped in shock at the image that greeted her.
“Logan?” she whispered, her eyes wide as she took a few steps into the room.
Am I seeing a ghost? Or is my mind simply playing tricks on me? Maybe I am dreaming again…
Her thoughts ran wild, never once settling upon the most obvious answer: That she had found the person she had been looking for, doing the one thing she had warned her not to.

Then Raven realized what she had done. Her eyes went a little wide as she slowly turned around and raised her hands in defense. “Storm!” She felt the blood draining from her face as she looked at the woman who had just warned her to never take this shape. The truth was she hadn’t even taken it consciously. Somehow she doubted that truth would save her.
“You were not meant to see that.” She said, changing shapes back quickly. “I sincerely apologize.” That was more of an apology than she had ever given-and the second of its like to the same woman in one day.
Then she moved over to the table and inspected the weapons, hoping the matter was settled. A simple misunderstanding. An accident, nothing more.

Logan’s face took on the proverbial “deer in the headlights” look, before it melted away to reveal Mystique. As the blue skinned woman apologized, then turned her back on her, Storm sagged back against the wall. In the span of only a few minutes, Logan had returned to her, and had been taken away again. Closing her eyes against the stinging tears that threatened to fall, she took a few deep breaths.
Why him? Why that form? It is like losing him all over again! she thought, as she wiped quickly at her eyes, before staring harshly at the other woman’s back. I could get her to bring him back, just for a minute… No! That would not do any good for anyone! I have to focus on planning and defending, not on myself.
Pushing away from the wall, she stood straight and tall before striding over to Mystique.
“This is not a time to be fighting amongst ourselves, so I will accept your apology this time. But if I ever see you in that form again…” she trailed off, letting the threat hang in the air between them.

She grabbed Storm’s arm. “I feel…shame at what just took place.” The words were uncomfortable and tumbled from her tongue awkwardly. “Though I have never felt love or even loved, it was not my intention to mock your pain in any way or dredge up any difficult feelings.” She glanced back at the mirror. “I did not even realize what I was doing.” She stared deep into Storm’s eyes.
"And you are right. This is not the time for fighting ourselves." She looked back down at the weapons. "We have enough that want to destroy us. She felt her stomach turn a little. Storm looked even worse than she was before-as if she had been holding onto a hope that was not obliterated.
Sorry did not begin to describe her feelings at this. The woman who had been holding onto a granite-like strength was now visibly shaken. The chaos was closer than ever to breaking through. I need to get her mind off of it.
Motioning at the weapons she said, "I have some weapons here that might help us out. But not every student is mature enough or responsible enough to handle a grenade launcher." She picked one of the weapons up and held it like a child in her arms. "I need your assistance to pick out the ones who are and get them familiar with the weapon immediately."

Taking another deep breath, Storm let it out slowly, before simply nodding at Mystique’s words. The hardness had disappeared from her eyes as she looked inquisitively at the large assortment of weapons that were laid out before her.
“Dare I even ask where all of these came from?” she asked lightly, in an attempt to disperse the tension in the air. “Or is it one of those things that I do not wish to know?”
She was quite surprised, and to be truthful, pleased with the heavy arsenal that Mystique had “acquired.” At this point, they needed all the help they could get.
"As for who to trust with these weapons, that is a difficult question. Most of the students are so young..."
They should not have to deal with this. With any of this.

"You can ask where they came from..." Mystique said with a playful smile, "But chances are you will regret it when I tell you." She met her gaze and set the weapon back down. "Besides, if you watch the news you would already know."
Then about the mutants that might be qualified to use the weapons she said, "Keep in mind, if they do not have offensive powers or a way to strike out at the Sentinels they are as good as..." She didn't say it. Me and my sensitivity!
She leaned in close. "If they aren't ready we need to consider how we might get them ready. We need all the firepower we can get."

Pursing her lips slightly, Storm attempted to make a mental list of the mansion’s occupants, namely the ones with defensive powers, or ones that would be useless against the Sentinals.
“The first names that come to mind are Jean, Psylocke, Callisto, Matt… and Kurt,” Storm replied, hesitant about saying the last name around Mystique. She knew even less about the situation between Mystique and Kurt than she did about this one with Rogue.
“I am sure there are others. I have not even touched on the other teams yet,” she continued, the whole idea of giving her students grenade launchers not settling well.
But what choice do we have?

"A few others come to mind." Mystique said when Storm had finished. "Larza, Toad and that new girl Taela." Seeing the look that Storm gave her when she mentioned Toad, Mystique nodded her head. "I know, I know. But desperate times call for desperate measures. The boy can be impossible and frustrating, but he has been useful on several occasions and actually tends to come through when the times call for it."
She gave Storm a wry look. "Though the best way to handle his flirtatiousness is to give it back. It makes him extremely uncomfortable. I did that once and he never bothered me again."
Smiling, she handed Storm a bag with a half dozen launchers in it, and a few other random rifles, pistols and grenades. "Now let me show you how to use these things."

Storm smiled at Mystique’s advice on how to handle Toad. Remembering her last encounter with him, she had to agree that it made sense.
“So will you be training the others to use these? If so, I believe I do not even have to mention that as soon as possible would be a good time to start!” she said, her voice light, despite the gravity of the situation. She was trying to stay positive, and hoped that this attitude would rub off on all the others.
“Where shall we begin my first lesson?” Storm asked, inspecting the bag of weapons she now held.
(OOC: Sorry I did not reply yesterday, and sorry for the quality of this post. The new year seems to have brought writer’s block with it.)

Mystique nodded. “I will be training some of them.” She handed the AT-4 to Storm, “And you will be training the others. We need to begin immediately.” For the next couple of hours she went over the basics of the rocket launchers, the grenade launchers, and all the other weapons with Storm. She showed her how to load, aim, and fire the weapons, discussed their range and a dozen other safety issues with her.
When she was finished, and Storm had learned all she needed to learn in the short amount of time they had she said, “We need to act as if time is run out. The Sentinels could literally launch an attack any moment.” Which made her think, “Do we have any system of watch set up? I would hate to find out about an attack as a laser pierced my heart.”
