Remy had just reached the top of the steps when he heard an angry voice call out his name. Spinning around, he was surprised when a strange winged creature threw him too the floor on the landing. As it pinned him there, and spoke, he recognized it as Taela, the new girl.
She hardly knew Logan at all, an’ she still upset. She wishes it was you instead. Dey all do… includin’ you…
Looking up in the furious eyes above him, he kept his face emotionless. He had showed too much emotion when he had told Storm, and now regretted it. It was better to act indifferent. He wanted them to hate him… hate him as he hated himself. He wanted them to put all their anger on him, and forget the others.
“Don’ you femmes listen?” he asked, laughing humourlessly. “He’s gone! An’ he ain’t comin’ back! Now unless you plannin’ on rippin’ my t’roat out, you mind gettin’ off?”
Maybe she will…

Taela refused to budge. "No." She growled. "I won't move until you tell me what I want to know. Don't act indiferent with me, Cajun. I can see right through it. There is no way anyone can come back from that and not be seriously hurt." She pressed her paws harder onto Remy's shoulders to emphasize her point. "Tell me exactly what happened to him and where you last saw him." She glared darkly right down into his eyes. "I won't kill you, no, that's probably what you want. If you don't tell me what I want, I'll do my best to make you immortal, force you to have to live with all this." One wing swept back to reveal Christine and the others. Taela growled, and awaited Remy's reply.

Remy laughed again, an odd sound ringing through the silence, broken only by Christine’s weeping.
If only she knew de t’ings I live wit’…
Clenching his jaw against his body’s screams of pain, Remy narrowed his eyes at her, never once trying to push her off him. He kept his poker face in place.
“Believe me, you don’ wanna know what I saw. It ain’t a pretty picture,” he said darkly, his eyes glowing dimly in the low light. “But dere was no way he lived t’rough it.”
She won’ kill you. You don’ deserve ta die. You deserve ta suffer like de rest o’ dem.
“De last glimpse I got o’ him was his flamin’ body as de Sentinal flew off wit’ it. Dat what you wanted ta hear? If you wan’ de gory details, you’ll have ta find a way ta take dem straight outta my head, ‘cause Dieu knows dey ain’t somet’in’ I’ll be forgettin’ real soon.”
With those words, Remy unconsciously strengthened his mental shields. He didn’t know the extent of Taela’s powers, but he never was one for people poking in his head. If she was a telepath, there was no way she would be able to read his thoughts.

"Well, then perhaps I'll just bring a corpse home. I don't bloody care. Where, cajun? I won't suffer another death without closure. I did that once, I won't do it again." No, I won't repeat my mistake with Pete. I won't let Christine suffer like I did. Taela thought. A tear tried to build, but Taela blinked it away quickly. There would be time for tears later, but not now. "Tell me, Cajun. Where was the attack? I don't care if I bring home ASH! I will bring something home. I will let my friends have closure." Taela snarled, showing her gleaming sharp fangs. Already, changes were happening. Her fur was slowly darkening and her wings were shrinking.

Groaning in frustration, Remy rolled to his side, pushing at Taela as he did so, effectively knocking her off of him. Jumping to his feet, he winced in pain, but quickly covered it up.
“You don’ listen, do you?” he yelled, throwing his hands into the air. “Dey took him! I don’ know where dey went, or what dey gonna do wit’ him! We couldn’t bring him back because he wasn’t dere ta take!”
But you were ready to leave de body, if de Sentinal hadn’t took it…
Running his bloody hand through his shaggy hair, Gambit was desperately craving a cigarette.
“Look, dis conversation be runnin’ in circles! I can’t tell you what I don’ know! If you wanna help Chris, go comfort her,” Gambit said, his voice steady and calm, despite the torrent of emotions he kept hidden.

Taela staggered up. She was so upset she'd triggered the transformation she never dared do on her own, the Demon Fox. Pain shot through her legs as she stood. Her body was using her powers to force itself to change. Her muscles were growing, her eyes and nose were being enhanced. She sneezed, and a bit of blood spat out. She growled, not in anger but in pain. The whites of her eyes turned red and her fur shot into deep blackness. A tear of blood slipped from her eyes. Her wings vashished, and her claws and teeth became bigger and sharper. "Force-mutation, into my Demon Fox form. Physically injures me as I change. It only happens when I'm too upset to notice the physical pain. Tell me now, Remy, where was the battle? I want to know everything you know, and I'm not psychic, I can't rip it from your brain as much as I would like." Taela winced slightly as she felt sharp spines began to pierce through her skin and fur on her back. She looked up at Remy, her demon-like eyes reflecting her change. Without warning, she sank her teeth into Remy's arm and refused to let go.

You can’t tell her. Dere still be at least two Sentinals dere! You’d jus’ be sendin’ her ta her death. You’ve caused enough pain fo’ one day.
Sinking to his knees, Remy wouldn’t allow himself to cry out in pain, as the teeth sank deeper into his arm. Squeezing his eyes shut tight, he tried to stay conscious. Between the physical and emotional pain that was eating at him, and the fact that he hadn’t slept more than a few hours since he came to the mansion, he was having a hard time not blacking out.
“I dunno. Logan flew us dere, an’ de autopilot brought us back!” he lied perfectly, not showing a single telltale sign. “I don’ know where it was.”
Opening his burning eyes to view the beast before him, he noticed his vision starting to blur. He was tempted to throw a charged card at her, just to get her to let him go, but stopped himself.
I should jus' give in an' let de darkness take me...

With a deep growl of anger, Taela spat his arm out. She growled deeply and stood in front of him, looking like a doberman sizing up a thief. She finally let all her rage out with a deep roar, like a cross between godzilla and a lion. She spun, her long black tail smacked into Remy and knocked his legs out from under him again. With an indignant snort she ran out the door into the storm. "If you won't tell me, I'll find him myself!" She snarled back at him while she ran down the lawn and out the gate.

Struggling to his feet, Remy took a few short breaths, even this simple task becoming difficult. Watching Taela fly off, he shook his head, before turning and heading in the opposite direction.
If she wants ta fly off on her own, dat be her own problem. Not’in’ I can do about it.
Entering his room, Remy unfastened his coat and threw it in the slightly singed chair. He guessed they’d probably moved him into a new room by now, but he felt more comfortable in the one he had practically demolished. Throwing his boots hard into the corner, he looked down to see the bandage on his side had practically soaked through with blood. Looking at his hands, all he saw was more blood. There was blood everywhere, and although it was all his, he felt this desperate need to be rid of it. Leaving the room, pulling the door shut behind him, Remy headed for the showers.

Taela stopped at the gate. She pointed her snout to the sky and sniffed. She turned and sniffed around her. She picked up the trail the blackbird had left as it came in. With a glare back towards the mansion, she paused. "I won't come back unless I have Logan with me. I promise you that, Christine. I never break promises." With that she took off, following the trail of the blackbird backwards.

Guido followed the exchange numbly. He had no idea what to say to any of them, particularly the nasty-tempered dragon thing who was accosting Gambit.
When it took off through the door, vowing to find Logan, Guido did nothing to stop it.
Knock yerself out. Those things are gonna send ya skippin right back here.
His heart heavy, he turned and headed back outside, into the storm. He had to find Ororo.

Mystique pulled up in the deep red SUV that she had ‘borrowed’ from the nice gentleman at the new car lot outside of town. She heard reports on her radio of a helicopter crash outside of town that investigators were looking into. The survivors all had mixed up stories and were all under investigation as suspects in the horrific accident. Nothing had been ascertained thus far.
She swung around into the mansion garage and pulled into the already open doors, hopping out and shutting the doors behind her. Currently she appeared to be a balding middle age man of rotund stature. That changed immediately after the doors shut. She grew in height and stature to her original form, and went over and popped the back of the SUV open to start unloading the weaponry.
The owner of the car shop would not be free from his bonds anytime soon, and the chances of them ever tracing the vehicle to this mansion were remote to say the least. Nevertheless, she would approach Logan immediately to begin stripping the vehicle and using it for parts.
She glanced out the side window of the garage before making her way up the stairs. An unusually torrential thunderstorm had moved in quickly. Bright slashes cut the sky in two and thunder shook the very foundations of the building. The day had been turned quickly to night with the ominous black clouds. Mystique grabbed what she could carry and headed up the stairs.
At the foot of the stairs, near the entrance, she found mass chaos awaiting her. “What is going on here?” She asked whoever was listening. Instead of awaiting an answer she followed Guido out the open door into the rain.
