Storm allowed Gambit to lead her away from the other two, before the weight of the situation truly hit her.
No one ever tells you to sit down, unless it is bad news. And the looks on their faces…
Violently shrugging off Gambit’s arm, Storm turned to him.
“I do not want to sit down! Just tell me what has happened to Logan!” she said, desperately trying to keep her voice steady. She wrapped her arms protectively around herself, as if to hold herself together. And as she looked into Remy’s pained face, she tried to prepare herself for the worst.

As Storm pushed his hand away, Gambit pulled it back, placing it in his pocket. Feeling the bag of disks contained within, his expression hardened.
Was it all worth it? Was dis bag o’ tricks worth leavin’ de ot’ers behind? Lettin’ Logan die?
Closing his eyes for a moment, in an attempt to push the voice away, Gambit looked back up at Storm’s face.
“Dey knew we were comin’. Dey were waitin’ fo’ us. We tried ta fight dem off, but…” he trailed off, swallowing hard. “Dey were too much for us.”
With each word the Cajun spoke, Storm felt a piece of her control break. Watching the variety of emotions pass over his face, running from fear to pain; regret to guilt, she nervously ran a hand through her long hair.
Outside, the bright morning sun began to get lost in the quickly darkening sky. Black clouds rolled in, and seemed to settle directly over the mansion, as a harsh wind began to howl.
“Would you please stop stalling and just tell me!” Ororo finally burst out, the suspense killing her. She could feel in her heart what the answer would be, but she needed to hear it.
Maybe if he does not say it, it will not be real, she thought fleetingly, but knew that it would do no good.

Clenching his jaw, Remy forced himself to meet Storm’s eyes.
“I so sorry, Stormy,” he began, reaching out to lay a comforting hand on her shoulder, but she flinched away. A cold wind blew in through the doorway, causing the tails of his trench coat to flutter.
“He’s gone. Dere was not’in’ we could do,” he said finally, his voice barely above a whisper. Again, the voice nagged him, calling him a liar, but he pushed it away. He had to appear strong. He couldn’t break… not now.

“He is gone? So, what, you just left him behind?” she asked incredulously, looking at him with accusing eyes.
“An X Man never leaves one of their own behind! But then again, you are not an X Man, are you, Gambit?” she spat out his name as if it left a bad taste in her mouth. “Logan would never have left you behind.”
Seeing the guilty look on Gambit’s face only served to fuel Storm’s anger. She seemed to have two options right now. Sorrow or anger, and anger was winning.
“I am going to find him, and I will bring him back,” she said, her voice cold as ice as she turned away. But she was stopped by a hand on her arm.

Storm’s words were like a knife to Remy’s heart, as she seemed lay out the very thoughts in his head for everyone to hear.
You’ll never be X Man material. She be right. Logan woulda done everyt’in’ he could ta make sure de rest o’ you got home safe, an’ he did…
As Storm turned away, Gambit reached out and grabbed her arm. From her words, he assumed she misunderstood, and felt they had left Logan behind, still alive.
“He’s dead!” he said, a little louder than he had meant to. Grabbing both her upper arms in his hands, he forced her to look at him. “No one coulda survived dat. Dey killed him, den dey took de body. You’ll never find him.”
The second the last words left his mouth, he realized his error.
Never say never ta a distraught Weat’er Witch!

With those two simple words, Storm’s world crumbled. Outside, the skies opened and a heavy rain began to pour, the harsh winds pushing it through the open doorway. But as Gambit continued to speak, her anger reached new heights and her naturally blue eyes clouded over solid white.
“You obviously do not know Logan! He is a survivor! And I will not leave him out there, no matter what his condition.” she screamed, a loud roll of thunder accompanying her voice. Angrily, she pushed Gambit hard, sending him back into the opposite wall. She latched desperately to her denial, trying to convince herself that Logan was alive, but knowing that this hope was in vain.
Turning toward the door, she started to walk away, before stopping, and fixing Gambit with one last harsh look. Her lips curled up in a cruel smile, and her white eyes flashed in time with the lightening outside.
“I have decided something. Your eyes truly do fit your character,” she said to him, her tone as biting as possible. He seemed to visibly flinch from her harsh comment, but she took no heed as she turned on her heel, and headed back for the door.

"Mom? Please don't... I don't want to lose you too," Christine said, tears streaking down her face as she learned from Ororo's reaction where her father was. "He'll come back, he has to! He promised me he'd come back!"

As Gambit’s back slammed into the wall, he gave up. He didn’t try to go after her, to talk to her. He just let her go. But when she turned back, and delivered the final blow, the pain it caused overshadowed all of his physical pain.
She sees you as de demon you are. And it only hurts so much ‘cause you know it all be true…
Pushing himself off the wall, Gambit’s now glowing eyes narrowed as he saw the crying Chris attempt to stop Storm. Emitting a loud, animalistic growl to rival Logan himself, Gambit pulled back his right fist, and drove it straight into the wall. Oblivious to the looks this action gained, he removed his bleeding hand from the hole in the wall, relishing in the pain that surged up his arm.
You deserve dis pain. You got off easy.
Without another look at the others in the room, he turned and headed upstairs, wanting nothing more than to be alone.

Practically crash-landing because of the storm raging outside, Taela gently depositted Angel on the front steps. She shifted back into dragonfox form once she stepped in out of the rain. She was surprised to see two of the boys heavily injured standing in her way. Walking around them, she spotted Christine and a female mutant she'd only seen once before. Both looked terribly upset. She ran over to Christine. "Hey, Christine, what's going on? What's with the big storm outside?" She asked, her voice wavering slightly. Somehow she didn't really want to know what had happened.

"Logan's dead," Christine said quietly. "He went on a mission and..." She started to cry again. "He has to come back! He promised me he'd be back before anyone noticed he'd be gone!"

Taela froze. "Where? When? Did they bring him back? Where is he?" Sadness and rage began to build inside of her, making her fur bristle. No bloody way! There is no way this could have happened! He can't be.... Taela thought, refusing to finish her own sentence.

Christine couldn't answer, grief robbing her of speech. She just sank to the ground and wept. Logan was her father - he had been the one who brought her out of catatonia. He had been the one who brought her to the school. Who taught her to drive. Who had been there when she had a nightmare and needed a father's presence to scare away the bad dreams.

Taela gave Christine a quick hug as best she could in her form, and then she turned to the next moving target- Remy. "REMY!" She shouted. She ran up to him, her anguish and rage blinding her to his injuries. When she reached him, she grabbed his arm in her jaws and flung him to the ground with the precision of a ninja. She then landed on top of him, pinning him to the ground with her front paws as she glared down at him. "Where. Is. Logan?" She asked, barely containing her rage enough to keep from just flat-out shredding him. Her ears were pinned back flat against her head, and her blue eyes flashed with an inhuman rage. Every tense muscle in her body screamed out her anger.

When Christine ran up to her, tears streaming down her face, Ororo felt her anger immediately dissipate, and a strange numbness settle into her whole body. She wanted to comfort the devastated girl, but couldn’t find the words, nor the actions. Everything seemed as if it was all just a bad dream, one that she would never awake from.
Taking one last look at Christine, sobbing on the floor, Storm turned away, and walked outside. Instantly she was soaked through by the rain f her own making. But she didn’t feel the cold rain, or the wind. She felt nothing.
Her eyes fell on the imposing shape of the Blackbird, it’s doors still wide open. She half expected Logan to come bounding down the ramp, and wrap her in a tight embrace, as he had after the last mission. But he didn’t.
Looking down at her rain soaked clothes, she remembered the last time she had looked that way. It had been just that day, or yesterday actually, but it seemed like forever.
"Now I got ya right where I want ya." Logan’s voice reverberated in her head, as she closed her eyes, clinging to that one memory. And at that moment, everything seemed to catch up with her, hitting like the proverbial ton of bricks.
He is not coming back. I will never see him again. He will never know…
As the gravity of the situation, and the tidal wave of emotions washed over her, Ororo fell to the wet ground, sobbing uncontrollably. Her hot tears mixed with the cold rain, becoming indistinguishable as they ran down her dark cheeks.
(OOC: If anyone wishes to continue this, please begin a new thread, as I am outside now. If not, then that is fine too.)
