With an indignant glare Taela shifted from dragonfox form back into a human form with a long black leather trenchcoat, red shirt, black flare leg jeans, black boots and her long black hair tied back with a flame-pattern scrunchie. "Yes, I am a mutant." She said coldly, her blue eyes flashing lightly with anger. "My name is Taela, although I am also called Dragonfox because of my prefered form."

"Not all mutants look the same," Christine said. "And since I neglected to mention it earlier. Code name's Phoenix. And you don't want to be on my bad side."

Hearing that the weird furry winged thing was another mutant, Toad dropped down with his smile back in place. "Tayla, huh? Shapeshifter...hmm. Could be fun?" He said to himself.
Then he realized he might have been dissed by bird boy. Spinning he looked at him indignantly. "Not want to shake my hand? What are you some kinda hoity toity snooty boy?"

Trying to cope with so many people talking at once, he did only the natural thing and turned to the most threating. Turning to confront Toad he was still disgusted and the fact that he now knew Toad was a mutant didn't change his opinion.
"You could call me that for want of a better term, 'o diminutive slime creature."

Christine buried her face in her hand. "What did I do wrong? I spent six years here and never had these kinds of problems before."
Small flames danced within the depths of her golden eyes.

Toad was aghast. He just stood there gawking for a minute and then realized that his tongue was lolling out down to his midriff. He snapped it back in, but made a point to waggle it in Angel's face while he stuck his thumb on his nose and wiggled his fingers.
Once the tongue was back in his face he turned and jerked a thumb over his shoulder, looking at Taela with unbelief. "Can you believe that...well hellloo." he said, realizing she had changed into a young girl. "Shapeshifter...could be pretty interesting..." He winked at her.

Taela shook her head. "Since it seems as though manners and most forms of intelligence are beyond your comprehension, Toad, might I suggest you leave before you further upset those of us who can actually use our brains to think rather than just take up space?" She transformed one of her hands into a large dragon's paw. "I'd hate to have to get my claws dirty."

"That's enough," Christine said, her voice as cold as ice. "Don't start, Toad." She was irritated and agitated - and not a happy camper. Small flames flickered around her lithe form.

Disgusted would not be a strong enough word to describe the emotion he felt as Toad's tongue waggled in front of his face.
Still cringing as Toad withdrew and turned his attention elsewhere, Warren could only breath a deep sigh of relief and wonder if anymore of the residents of this place were as 'dirty' as Toad.
"I don't think either me or the mansion have made a good start on the process of impressing each other, perhaps it would be better if I simply left and returned to where I came."

To quote another hero from New York - "Flame On". Flames danced around Christine's lithe form as her anger reached a near dangerous point. "That's quite enough," she said, her voice dripping unrestrained power. "Now, let us go to the kitchen before someone gets hurt."

Stepping away from Christine to avoid being burned, Taela let her expression soften. "Yes, you're right, Christine. We've all been acting rather immature. I appologize, Angel. Normally I am not this rude." Taela offered a human hand to Angel. "It's a pleasure to meet you."

Christine let the flames die slowly. "Told you I was a phoenix," she whispered. "Any way... shall we go get a coffee..?"

"Hey don't worry about it tootse. Even I have my moments. No offense taken." He smiled around at everyone to let them know he had forgiven them.
All except the winged one. He walked by him, not moving his eyes from Angel's. "See ya round, Condope JR." He spit a small green glob at his feet and walked by him mustering up as much dignity as he could.

He shook Taela's hand and bowed. " 'Tis a pleasure."
"I am sorry Christine but this has been to much for me."
Leaving the handshake he began a run and escaped to the outside where he leapt into the air, his wings unfolded and he flew off into the sky to the town where he would return to his hideout.

"I've failed," she whispered softly, burying her face in her hands. "I let my anger get the better of me and chased off one of our own." Tears streaked down her pale features.
