Erik gave a short mirthless grunt of a laugh. "Dear boy, I could really care less if you trust or like me as a person." He leaned in, "But it is essential to our survival that we have a level of trust on the battlefield."
He flashed an unnerving smirk at Scott. "I might very well be the thing that stands between you and a beating that makes this one look like a skinned knee on the schoolyard."

"Erik...", Henry said as he placed a very large hand firmly on his shoulder and pulled the elder mutant to face him. He levelled Magneto with a smoldering glance and said, "You have no right to speak to him that way. A lot has happened...and you'll find that there is no one here more compentent in the field."
His grip loosened as did his expression. "Let it go", he said. It was not phrased as a request.

Erik looked at the massive hand on his shoulder and then into Henry’s eyes without a trace of what was going on in his mind. “I do not have the time nor the inclination to try and prove myself worthy to everyone, Henry.” He said to him in even and controlled tones. “I don’t wish to squabble and fight over this, and I don’t wish to talk down to a lad who has obviously been tortured.”
He nodded at Beast, and then addressed everyone in the room as he brushed his giant blue hand aside. “We do not have time to waste on fighting each other. Henry is right. It is not in our best interest to be at each other’s throats.” He looked down at Scott. “The good doctor will fix you up, and then perhaps we can talk without lashing out at one another?”<br>

"He'll be fine with some rest and care. With all of my duties here, I may need you to help out with that."
Jean smiled at Henry's response and moved a few steps closer to where Scott, Magneto, and Henry were arguing amongst themselves. She looked back at Ororo, who hadn't really said anything since they had arrived. She glanced at each of them, as if repremanding(sp) them for arguing at a time like this. A time when they should be united, rather than fighting over things that weren't very important.
"I'd love to help, Henry. That is if Scott doesn't mind," Jean replied after keeping silent for so long.

As Magneto disappeared into the MedLab with Scott in tow, and Jean following closely behind, Storm stopped just outside the door. She wanted to know the extent of Scott’s injuries, but did not want to be in the way in the already crowded room.
From her current position she could hear the conversations from within, but her presence was almost forgotten. She kept silent through the whole exchange of words between the three men, hoping that they could work their difference out among themselves. She didn’t feel this was the time to push Magneto’s newfound loyalty on Scott.
As Jean turned back and looked at her, Storm simply threw her a reassuring smile, before turning, and heading down the hallway a few steps, just out of view. Leaning heavily against the wall, she sighed.
The important thing is that Scott has returned, and that he will be fine. But what of the origin of his injuries?
With these thoughts, a thoughtful frown fell upon the face of the Weather Goddess.
