Given Name: Mortimer Toynbee
Codename: Toad
Age: 25
Detailed Description of Powers: Toad has three main abilities: super strong legs (which allow him to jump great distances as well as kick through walls), a prehensile tongue, and glands on the inside of his mouth and throat that allow him to spit out globs of toxic, quick-drying ooze. He has several minor abilities, such as a hyper-flexible spine, the ability to climb walls, and a hinged jaw, quite like a snake's.
Originally from: York, England
Known Family: None. Parents abandoned Toad at an orphanage shortly after his birth.
Physical Description: Toad is short and compact, with the muscular build of a martial artist. His skin is a sickly looking yellow-green peppered in dark green warts. He has webbed fingers and toes, stubby teeth, grey gums, and the striking gold eyes of his namesake. (based off of Ray Park's Toad from the movie.)
Personality: Toad isn't exactly friendly, but he isn't a brooding sociopath, either. He is a snarky, cocky, and often infuriating sort of man that loves to push people's buttons and get in to fights. He doesn't possess a soft, squishy interior, but he is capable of forming friendships with those he trusts. He has an undying hatred of humans, and somewhat distrusts normal-looking mutants, feeling more at home with 'ugly' mutants like himself.
Other: He is a talented mechanic and a capable pilot, and likes to watch himself featured in papers and on the news. He thinks it's funny.
Bio: Toad was abandoned as an infant, and spent his childhood at an orphanage where he was ostracized by both his peers and caretakers. He ran away to London at the age of eight, living on the streets and surviving off what he could steal. His physical mutation made it dangerous to attract much attention, as mutants were rarer when he was growing up. When he was fourteen he was rescued from the Friends of Humanity by Magneto and Mystique, and has worked with them ever since. He is devoted to Magneto's cause, but not blindly loyal to the Brotherhood (like his jester-suit-wearing counterpart).
And in the Interview:
Why did you choose our site?: Your board seems very active, I like the flexibility your background story offers.
What about this character do you like?: He's an under-used character that I think has a lot of potential. His background is interesting and his sarcasm and cockiness make him a fun character to play.
Have you ever RPed before? Where?: Yes, but mostly with friends over AIM.
Sample:
Toad had a problem with stakeout missions.
It wasn't that he didn't see how valuable they were. They had plenty of merit, he wasn't denying that...they were just so boring. Nine times out of ten you ended up sitting on your backside for hours on end, just to watch your mark come home and do something as sinister as reading the morning paper.
You couldn't even do anything to entertain yourself while you sat there. It wasn't advisable to turn on the radio. You could attract attention. Reading wasn't a good idea, because it could distract you from the mission at hand--and he was crap at reading anyway. The only thing you could do was bug your stakeout partner. Toad smiled to himself. At least he was good at that.
