Given Name: Sarah (Last Name Unknown)
Alias: Sarah Rushman
Codename: Marrow
Age: 23
Detailed Description of Powers: Sarah’s unique mutation grants her with a very different physiology. She is subject to both random and controlled bone growth throughout her body. These protruding bones are generally long and sharp, and they cause her constant pain, particularly when she extracts them. Marrow is able to somewhat control her bone growth, forming plates of armor or sharp horns. She can produce them from her body at will, and in the past has been able to shoot them out at enemies like quills. Hyper-accelerated metabolism speeds up the growth factors of her body, increasing her strength, agility, reflexes, durability and regenerative properties, and causing her bones to grow on command into oversized finger talons or various external shapes such as knuckle guards, daggers, spears, and projectile spikes.
Just to restate a critical point, the act of removing the bones is VERY painful, but Marrow’s gotten over it.
Since Marrow has exhibited a second heart, there is indication that her regenerative powers may affect her internal organs as well as bones. Marrow's skin heals quickly after pulling out a bone, giving evidence of an enhanced healing factor and a stronger than normal immune system. Her enhanced skeleton gives her some protection against concussive impact.
Originally from: The Morlock tunnels.
Known Family: Raised by the Morlock leader Callisto, but her real parents are unknown
Physical Description: Underneath the plates of armor and dagger sharp points of bone, Sarah would be pretty, at least if she let herself be. Aside from the obvious indication that she’s a mutant, one would be able to tell due to the pinkish hue of her skin, and the naturally violet color of her short hair. She has greenish yellow eyes that can either be very pretty or very dangerous looking depending on her mood. She’s pretty tall too (about 6’).
Personality: Marrow is…difficult, to say the least. She’s combative, sarcastic and easily insulted. Her own upbringing has caused her to be very prejudiced against “Pretties” or those that grew up on the surface. Luckily her hatred of humans outweighs her prejudices. By some quirk of nature, she’s very maternal and protective of her comrades in arms, and heaven help the fool who thinks it’s a good idea to harm those she has placed under her care. She also has ZERO table manners. Well…not much by way of manners in general, but eating with her is definitely an experience.
Bio: When in pain or discomfort, it isn’t entirely uncommon for a baby to scream. So when Baby Sarah first began to feel the effects of her mutant gift surfacing, she did what came naturally. She cried, and cried and cried. Her parents did all they could to ease her pain, but nothing could stop the loud wails that came from their daughter’s body.
One night in desperation, her parents abandoned her in an alley. They drove quickly away, and did they best they could to forget Sarah. She was sure to die.
But luckily, a kind gesture from an unlikely source took her in. A woman known as Callisto, the de-facto leader of a group of subterranean dwelling mutants called The Morlocks took her in. And for a time, Sarah was happy.
Then something terrible happened. Remy Lebeau, who had not yet joined the X-men, had organized a group of bloodthirsty Marauders. These men, under the instructions of the sinister Nathaniel Essex, were to massacre the entire population of Morlocks. The number of men and women lost was devastating, and if not for the actions of Lebeau, Sarah would have been destroyed along with them.
Sarah was whisked away into an alternate dimension by Mikhail Rasputin, who’s Social Darwinist philosophy of "survival of the fittest" was the only thing which governed the society. He established a citadel for himself atop a massive hill. If someone could reach the summit of the hill, they were considered "fit" and worthy of being part of Gene Nation, Mikhail’s new terrorist group.
When her powers fully manifested she was forced to "up the hill", becoming more savage and killing her opponents to survive. When she managed to reach the top, Mikhail considered her fit to join his elite fighting team Gene Nation, which eventually became a terrorist group whose mission was to punish humans for their hatred towards mutants. In that harsh dimension, time passed quickly, and when Marrow and several other members of Gene Nation (of which she had become leader) returned to Earth, they discovered only a few years had passed during their absence.
So the angry, savage twenty something was unleashed on the world, the very world that would have let her die. She would not be that weak ever again.
And in the Interview:
Why did you choose our site?: You guys rock. Pure and simple.
What about this character do you like?: She’s one of my favorite ladies in the Marvel universe. She’s tough and merciless, but there’s this maternal side to her as well. She’s a fun paradox.
Have you ever RPed before? Where?: Right here. Other places too, but mostly right here.
Please write a sample post for the character you want below:
Mikhail had always been very clear about the ways things worked. The weaker organisms fed the strong. The strong were designed to survive, and Sarah was strong. She had proved it two hundred times over on The Hill. She had risen in the ranks to become Mikhail’s right hand Morlock.
This…filth was weak. This pretty little thing was so weak it could barely look her in the eyes.
“Pretty…Pretty…” Sarah cooed, as she broke off a bone dagger from her shoulder blade. The pain was intense, and anyone who hadn’t been practicing that particular ritual would have probably passed out from the scathing agony that had become so familiar to her. She ran the jagged edge of the bone-dagger across the woman’s face, and whispered in her ear.
“Tell me… do you miss the sun when it goes down at night?” She asked, her face so close her teeth brushed up against her intended victim’s ear.
“I-I-I- what do you mean?” The woman asked, her voice trembling, like the rest of her body.
“Do. You. Miss. The. Sun. When. It. Goes. Down?” Sarah asked again, withdrawing away from the woman’s ear, and staring fiercely into her eyes.
“N-not really?” She answered, then cringed.
Sarah was swift, and the blade had already done it’s task in the blink of an eye.
“Wrong answer.”
Sarah left her there is the alley, just like she had been left there many years before. She was not weak anymore.
