Given Name: Jubilation Lee
Codename: Jubilee
Age: 15
Detailed Description of Powers:
Jubilee mutant-manifest energy plasmoids as multi-colored fireworks of various shapes, colors and intensities, which she can detonate to create disorienting bursts of light and sound, scalding heat, concussive impact, or interweave the "PAF" energies into solid objects to cause violent explosions at the molecular level.
These "fireworks" are essentially energy globules that vary in degrees of power and intensity. The globules obey her mental control, traveling where she directs them, arranging themselves in balls, streamers, and other shapes, and exploding when she wishes. These combinations may result in anything from a multitude of colorful sparkles capable of temporarily blinding a person to a fairly powerful detonation, capable of smashing tree trunks or metal objects. She can absorb these "fireworks" back into her own body without harm to herself.
When she is upset or agitated, she often produces small sparks from her fingertips. For this reason, she usually wears a pair of gloves so that the energies don’t have the chance to manifest.
Originally from: Beverley Hills, CA, USA
Known Family: Dr Hui and Mrs Ting Lee (parents, deceased)
Extended family in China (not in contact or known to Jubilee)
Physical Description:
The first thing that draws one’s attention when looking at Jubilee is her eye-searingly bright yellow coat. She wears it almost constantly, and the pockets are filled with packets of bubblegum, lollipops and other items of a similar nature, along with things like coins, old bus tickets, hair clips, slingshots and so on. She also sports a neon pink pair of Raybans, and they’ll either be propped up on the top of her head or on her face. She’s usually found to be wearing an almost obscenely short pair of tight denim cutoffs paired with a t-shirt of some description. She often wears a large pair of pink plastic hoop earrings, the earrings have ‘Jubilee’ written across a crossbar in the middle. She is more then just a little bit of a tomboy. The young Chinese girl has her black hair cropped to a short, ragged bob that finishes about level with her jaw, with a thick fringe that nearly overhangs her eyes. It’s fine and silky in texture, with a tendency to fly-away strands but she keeps it in pretty good condition.
She’s rather petite, and her body is in proportion with that and her ethnic ancestry. This means she doesn’t have very large breasts, something she regards with equal parts happiness and frustration. Happiness because they don’t get in the way of the things she likes to do, mainly gymnastics and sport, but at the same time she wouldn’t mind if they were just a bit bigger. She’s slim and toned because of her gymnastics training and active lifestyle. She has lovely golden skin, without blemish or mark, except for small, faint scars on her hands that are reminiscent of burns. Her eyes are a bright, piercing blue, slightly slanted and almond-shaped with thin arching eyebrows and long dark lashes. Her hands are slim with long fingers and well-kept nails, usually painted in bright colours and overlaid with glitter, and her feet are small with a high arch which makes it difficult to find shoes she likes that fit.
Personality:
Jubilee's personality matches her explosive powers. Upbeat, sassy and brashly outspoken, she's not afraid to speak her mind. Often, and at great length. She's fiercely loyal to her friends. Jubilee has a lot of disrespect for authority, only truly respecting those who earn it in her eyes. Sarcastically witty, mischevious, impish, intelligent and streetwise along with her gift of apparently inexhaustable gab make her a hard girl to keep up with.
The darker sides of Jubilee's personality are all turned inward, and few people realise they even exist. Fearful of abandonment and changes in relationships, her bouts of depression are well masked from those around her. She doesn’t talk to people about the way she feels, thinking that she should be able to cope with her problems by herself. Crying or breaking down in any way would be a shameful display of weakness, and she usually deals with her emotional problems by shoving it off into a corner of her mind and not paying any attention to it.
Other: Expert gymnast. Highly skilled cross-terrain rollerblader; at least in an urban environment. Highly developed street survival skills. Good petty thief/pickpocket. Has a good grasp of showmanship, especially the barker patter that draws the marks in to be scalped. Very good at videogames and computers; generally highly technologically literate, although she has no interest in coding. She just knows how to use things.
Bio:
Jubilee’s parents were Chinese immigrants who moved to America before she was born, and named her Jubilation as an expression of their joy in their new country. As Jubilee’s father was a bank manager, they were quite well off and lived in the Beverly Hills area of Los Angeles. When she was in elementary school, her gift for gymnastics was discovered and she started in an appropriate training regime. While she was in Los Angeles, she became friends with another girl her age nicknamed Cyn-Jen. They were the terror of several malls in their area, adept shoplifters and general mallrats on their rollerblades. Once when she was fleeing a pair of security officers, she wound up in a dead end alley with nowhere to go. In her panic, her mutant powers activated for the first time. While it was a time of extreme emotional distress for her to discover that she was a mutant, her parents quickly came to terms with her mutantcy and helped her to do the same. Once she learned how to control it and not randomly create fireworks from her fingertips, it became unimportant to their lives.
However, not long after this, Jubilee’s life took a turn for the worse. Her parents were killed in what appeared to be a road accident but was later revealed to be murder. The Lees were killed mistakenly by the Chinese tong, who confused them with another Chinese couple by the name of Lee living in the same area. Jubilee came home from a day at the mall to find that her parents were dead. She was removed from the area by social services and placed in a foster home. Knowing that her only living relatives were overseas in China and hating her foster home, Jubilee ran away to the mall which she had patronized the most in her days as a Beverley Hills Princess.
Needless to say, her efforts to feed herself via a mix of mutant-powered fireworks display and stealing did not go over well with the mall security. They hired a group of bounty hunters that specialized in mutants to remove Jubilee from the mall for good, but she evaded them and continued to use the mall as a place to obtain resources from.
The M Squad did not give up after she evaded them the first time and returned after Jubilee thought they'd forgotten about her. Magneto and the Acolytes found her first. Jubilee became an Acolyte because they saved her life, gave her a home and a substitute for her family.
She regards the older Acolytes with something approaching hero worship and tries to follow Magneto's orders to the best of her abilities. She gets on better with Gambit then the others, mainly because the two of them are thieves. He is also teaching her further skills in the thieving trade, and where one brown trenchcoat is to be found, a yellow one usually isn't far behind.
(What can I say, I like the XR history I made for her. And if I can't use it here, where can I use it?)

The beat of her work out music was pounding, running through her blood as her hands slapped against the beam, body moving exactly the way she wanted it to. Flip, dismount, pike, whatever. It was all going great today. Jubilee could feel the sweat running down her skin as she continued to push herself harder, muscles stretching and body moving. Felt better then good to know she was just as good as she ever was.
Because duh, she’d known it. But it was better to know it like this, the knowledge burned into her body like a brand. It was nice of Xavier to let her play with the toys he had down her, the place was set out really well. Little boom box she’d nicked from one of the other girl’s rooms was blasting, CD from somebody else playing something techno with a bass beat that could rattle your teeth if she kicked it up a few more notches. Oh man, this was the way it should be.
Flipping off the end of the balance beam onto the mat, Jubilee bowed, then broke away from the mats to go and grab a drink. Man, she was thirsty now. And sweaty. Yick. Nice to know she could grab a shower here whenever she wanted. Eyeing the uneven bars as she sipped from her water bottle slowly, the slight Chinese girl decided to try them next. It’d be interesting to see how much she remembered. And this way she could do it and know there was no one watching her mess up, until she was right back on track and back to the form she’d been at before...everything had happened. Whoa, bad vibes.
Back to thinking about the work out, and just what she was going to do next. In the other way lay badness of the nth degree and possible freakage. Gymnastics was so much better.
