“See?” a tall, thin girl bundled up in dark jeans and a heavy trench coat muttered to herself, her warm breath hanging lazily on the crisp night air in front of her. “Goin’ out t’nahght wasn't that bad of uh decision!”
There was... elbow room -- kinda. A couple passing her by eyed her warily, and the girl made an effort to keep her arm from brushing the stranger who was talking to herself. The stranger smiled at this, and pulled her own arms in tight to stay warm. When people didn’t want to be near her it made her life that much easier. Generally she just avoided crowded places altogether, but the carnival had been just a bit too enticing. She’d figured the cold, icy almost-snow might have kept most people inside; it seemed everyone else in the city had thought the same.
Exiling herself to keep from as much contact as possible, the girl aptly named Rogue stuck to the edges of the crowd, only stopping to buy herself a bag of freshly spun cotton candy as she slunk toward the ferris wheel. Standing on her toes to gain her bearings over the bobbing heads, Rogue stuck a fluffy clump of blue sugar into her mouth.
“Alright, about sixty more feet to wade through, then freedom…” she grumbled around the sticky treat, deciding to make a b-line and just brave the crowd. Paranoia be damned -- she tugged the long sleeves of her hoodie down to cover her gloved fingers -- sorta. The ferris wheel was worth it though. Something about the ride’s height made the clenching of nerves that went on in her stomach turn into butterflies. It was like flying. Unfortunately, flying in a crowded city like this was highly looked down upon, so Rogue had to stick with the next best thing.
Enticed by the feeling, Rogue wandered into the throng of noisy kids and smoochie couples, her emerald eyes set only on her goal in front of her. She really should have been paying more attention to the people around her…
