Weapon:
Chakram of Light - A weapon made by the technology of the Atlanteans using light sources as a bonding process to make the rare metals of the Savage Land adhere to its molecular structure making it almost unbreakable. It's primary use is that of cutting through metals and other surfaces. Because of its molecular structure, it cannot slice through other species' skins or vessels nor can it be used as a surgical tool.
If this intricately designed chakram is to be broken, a fail-safe mechanism was engineered into the molecular structure to allow the broken pieces of the chakram to wield itself back together.
Powers:
Shapeshifting:
Samantha has the ability to shapeshift into a very large and exotic Siberian Tiger. With her father's Nomadic Cat DNA strewn with her mother's Atlantean blood, her human body can shapeshift.
Fighting Skills:
The feline blood that flows through her veins gives her agility and quickness when battling a foe. Her Amazon tribe taught her the tcchniques in fighting and defending herself, however, she taught herself how to wield and use her chakram to enhance her abilities and make it a tool in assisting her to decrease an enemies advantage.
Weaknesses:
She is almost human and with that she has the weakness of any human. She is mortal, she can sustain cuts, bruises, and any kind of harm that any human can feel. Her shapeshifting drains energy which makes her times as a Tiger limited to the amount of time she can be transformed. She has been known to become unconscious when transformed for long periods of time, making her quite vulnerable to anything that could harm her.
Personality:
A tell it like it is kinda girl who has a stubborn disposition but once she's a friend, Sapphire is most loyal, deeply devoted, and protective.
Hobbies and Pastimes:
She likes the quietness of a good book as well the calmness of a serene CD. Since coming to the Americas, she has taken an interest in watching Nascar. She even dabbled in painting for a while, but found she had better cooking skills and loves to make a good pot of spaghetti that she learned on her own since living in the states.
Likes and Dislikes:
Sapphire loves being outside feeling the fresh air permeate through her body. City air and pollution is not to her liking at all. Like most felines, Sapphire is not fond of water, however she does fancy dolphins.
Occupation:
Currently unemployed
Bio:
In generations passed, a group of human survivors from Atlantis sailed to Antarctica after the "Great Cataclysm" which sunk their continent. There, they discovered a cavern where they found an immense climate-controlling device and harnessed the technology used to keep the Savage Land's volcanoes working. They named their location "Pangea," which is Atlantean for "paradise." When the Great Cataclysm struck, the continent of Atlantis sank and the Atlantean Empire came to an end. The Cataclysm caused the Savage Land and Pangea to sink below sea level, but thanks to the surrounding mountains, neither area was submerged beneath the sea. The climate-control mechanisms were so well built that they survived the sinking, of the landmass and continued to be operational.
However, three forths of the population of the Savage Land and Pangea were killed in the upheaval, The rest sank swiftly into barbarism, and soon, as a result of widespread violence, only a tenth of the human population that existed before the Cataclysm was still alive. Peace eventually returned, and the human beings of Pangea and the Savage Land struggled back upward toward civilization.
Pangaea's fate was in the hands of the few Atlanteans that survived through generations trying to restore it's paradise state. Apparently, the High Evolutionary has returned the Savage Land's climate control machinery to working order and has reactivated the surrounding volcanoes; but Pangaea was not part of the reactivation.
One leading scientist, Dr. Shannon Carter was amongst those who fought and strove for Pangaea to be returned to a Paradise. Feeling it would be more beneficial to work in numbers, the Atlanteans and numorous species of the land combined their efforts and worked as a team. The actions did not go unnoticed as the powerful tyrant Zaladane watched over their progress. Shannon's most difficult task was finding plant life that would cooperate with the Atlantean technology. However, on an expedition to the outskirts of Pangaea, Dr. Carter and her team found an Amazon tribe that thrived with illustrious plant growth. She offered the Amazon Atlantean technology to upgrade their primitive inhabitance in exchange for various plants that seemed to only grow in their area. Over a few years, Dr. Carter became close friends with the Amazon leader, Kaiba. A very sick cat man by the name of Nikoli found his way to Dr. Carters lab and she worked day and night for weeks to come up for a cure for an unusual ailment that effected Nikoli. She found an antidote using some of the plant life from the Amazon tribe and found a cure for. They became friends and then lovers as time went by. Periodically, the evil Zaladane would raid Dr. Carter’s lab with her associates and sometimes personally, just to get progress reports on Dr. Carter’s work. Dr. Carter and her associates managed to hide all information regarding the Amazon tribe. She feared that Zaladane would take over the peaceful Amazon village and claim it as yet another one of her many victories. Zaladane strictly forbade the cat people to have any contact with the Atlanteans unless it was a medical emergency. Shannon Carter and Nikoli were secretly wed in an undisclosed location for Shannon discovered she was pregnant.
As Shannon’s pregnancy progressed, she became more frightened that Zaladane would find out and have her baby taken away for medical tests and possibly extinction if she learned that the father was a cat man. Since Zaladane only did quarterly visits to her laboratory, it gave Shannon enough time to make an expedition to the Amazon. She stayed with Kaiba, who took her in and became her midwife until Samantha was born. With a heavy heart, Shannon decided to leave Samantha in the care of Kaiba with the reassurance that she would visit her periodically to see her beloved child grow into a beautiful young woman. However, Shannon herself developed a small infection within her womb after the birth and became gravely ill. Even with all the Atlantean technology and Amazon plant life at their disposal, they couldn’t find an antidote for Dr. Carter. During this time, Zaladane made her quarterly visit and discovered how sick Dr. Carter had become. Nikoli in a desperate attempt to save his wife, told her about the pregnancy, but then lied and told her the baby died at birth and possibly that was the reason for infection. Because of the deception of the law Zaladane had placed upon the Atlanteans and to show she was still in power, she had Nikoli executed and didn’t offer any assistance to Dr. Carter. Dr. Carter died shortly after Nikoli’s execution.
An assistant to Dr. Carter found her way back to the Amazon tribe and told Kaiba of the devastating news. She gave Kaiba Shannon’s personal journal and the chakram she kept hidden from Zaladane. It was the last time Kaiba saw anyone from the laboratory.
Kaiba taught Samantha the Amazon ways and she quickly became a fierce warrior at a very young age using her enhanced catlike abilities to her advantage. At age 12, she discovered her shape shifting technique by accident almost killing her sister in a game of tag outside their home. Kaiba knew that her mother and Nikoli were running from someone and found out later from a personal journal that Shannon brought with her, that it was Zaladane. To protect Samantha further, Kaiba burned the journal.
Kaiba’s own daughter Serenity had taken Samantha as her sister. But a bitter jealousy grew in Serenity’s heart and she was sure that Samantha would retain leadership of the tribe if something were to happen to Kaiba. Serenity was almost 15 years old when Samantha was born. Part of the Atlanteans agreement was to teach the Amazon how to read and write. Before Kaiba burned the journal, Serenity would take Dr. Carter’s journal secretly to read it when her mother was off finding food or supplies. She read about Zaladane’s rule over the Atlanteans and the Cat People.
On a mission with the X-men, Kevin Plunder aka Ka-Zar came to the Amazon village on or around Samantha’s 19th birthday and warned Kaiba of a new threat amongst the people, Magneto. Kaiba never mentioned Samantha for her own protection but heeded the advice given to her by Ka-Zar. As leader of her tribe, Kaiba warned her Amazons about the impending threat telling them to be extremely careful and stay close to the village at all costs.
Near Samantha’s 21st birthday, Kaiba was throwing a large feast to celebrate her daughter’s upcoming rise to womanhood. Serenity finally decided it was time to tell Zaladane about Samantha’s existence and secretly left the village. Her plans to rid herself of Samantha once and for all backfired as Zaladane took the Amazon tribe as a threat to her already thriving power and sent a brigade to the Amazon tribe with orders to kill everyone in the village and bring Samantha back alive. During battle, Samantha received a large gash along her side and was presumed dead.
Her body was discovered by an agent from S.H.I.E.L.D. and brought back to there temporary facility set up somewhere in the Savage Land. The exact location remained classified and Samantha’s wounds were tended to. To protect Samantha even further Nick Fury, the executive agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. recommended that Samantha be moved to the states and given a name and identification to start a life free of Zaladane. With everyone she ever loved now gone, Samantha agreed to the terms and promised to later repay the offer given to her by Nick.
Samantha moved to the states near her 22nd birthday and took residence up in a low class apartment building and had enough funds credited to her to go to school and further learn the American way of life. When the nightmares began, her nights became sleepless rendezvous’ with terror and fright. It was then; she decided to find some of the X-men her mother Kaiba told her about years earlier.
