Johnny Storm. Defender.
It had a good ring to it. Which was little consolation in this sweaty humid jungle land. There was just jack and squat to do here. Here he was defending the humans from...whatever.
There was no way Magsie and his bunch of mutant baddies were going to find them here. They were off the maps. They didn’t even have Starbucks here!
The heat didn’t really bother Johnny. He was way hotter than anything out here, and he knew it. There was only one thing that got to Johnny Storm, and that was boredom. Maybe what he was doing was right...maybe it was survival on his part. They really didn’t have a whole lot of choice here. Stay in New York and be a cog in the machine, or get out of Dodge (as Ben put it).
It was yet another time when he really wished his big sister was here for him.
Standing in the middle of a jungle clearing, Johnny watched a strange and impossible lizard creature swing by overhead. Sights like that were more common than anyone would believe in the civilized world.

Wade Wilson, Walking Corpse.
He was beginning to grow accustomed to the idea of being nothing more than some Mary Shelley rip-off, some zombie-fied avenger.
No, make that Defender. Of Humanity. Because he lost his.
He had been working out new emergency escape routes through the deep foliage when the sound of rustling ferns were drawn to his attention.
Sword drawn, he leapt from the tree he had been perched in to confront the sound.
"Oh....sorry Torch..."

Watching the Tarzan lizard swing away, Johnny shook his head and turned around to face a madman leaping out of a tree at him with a sword. Johnny yelped almost girlishly and fell to his hind side in a burst of flames.
As the flames consumed his body, Johnny stared up at Wade and a look of anger crossed over his face. “Are you crazy?” He already knew the answer to that one. The leaves and underbrush smoldered and then caught on fire, leaving a growing trail of thick, black smoke all around them.
But Johnny turned off the heat, and stood up, stamping out the miniature fires with the heel of his foot. He got in trouble for forest fires here. That was the kind of thing a satellite could pick up.
Still stamping, he cast another look at Wade. “So...wassup?”

Wade answered simply, as was his custom; "I was working out some new escape routes through the jungle, in case of invasion."
He had no need for elaborate explainations or anecdotes, his words simply...existed, just like he did. He chose his words carefully, making sure they carried all the meaning they could.
"You can never be too careful."

"Riiiight," Johnny said as he looked around them. "Because there's all kinda...invading going on here."
In case you weren't certain, Johnny was 'humoring' Wade. The guy was a total nutjob. What Ben might have called as nutty as a fruitcake. Somewhere along the way, Wade had his screws tightened too tight.
Johnny looked around again and sighed.
"I hate to say it, but I wish there was some action around here. You know where we can stir up some trouble, crazy man?"

"Be careful what ya wish for burn-boy!" The mutant who did not introduce himself as Random appeared from above both Defenders, and lept down in attack. He used Wade as a landing pad, and then fired some of his protoplasm at Johnny, dousing his flames as if the Torch had been splattered with wet mud. Meanwhile, Trainer watched these events through Random's eyes. This was the perfect oppourtunity for her to gauge Storm and Wilson's performance. And try out some hologram technology she had cobbled together from some of Reed's notes.

((Sorry Sorry Sorry! )) Wade coolly rose form being knocked to the ground and glared at Random with his blank, dead eyes. "You have ten seconds to leave....then..." He took a deep breath, readying himself for combat, "Then the pain will begin..." "One......two...." Wade drew his katanas, "Three....."

(you are forgiven, now get ready for a Random Beathing! jk ;D) "Fourfivesixseveneightnineten!!!" Random's arms formed into two big honkin scimitar-like blades out of protoplasm. He made a stab at Wade's gut with his left blade. *** Trainer couldn't help herself from smiling, the hologram tech was better than she expected. It was a pity Reed was not around anymore, she wanted to congratulate him.

What the-
One minute he’s standing there in the jungle talking to a crazy man, when suddenly another crazy man jumped out of the trees and started squirting silly putty at him. It was one of the big problems with jungle life. Too many insane people.
“Flame o...aw man!”
There wasn’t much more than a sputter. He should have known...he was totally soaked.
“Dude, what’s your problem?” While Wade was getting attacked by some knives or something, Johnny smelled the gooey stuff on him. “This is totally sick, man!”

The knife entered Wade's midsection with a sickening, wet sound.
The pain would have been intense, if he could still feel pain. But Wade was dead, the only thing he felt was a burning desire for vengence against Mutant Kind.
And one of their own had directly challenged him.
The dead eyes of Wade Wilson locked onto Random's as he pulled the blade arm deeper into his midsection.
"You can't kill a person twice...." He said, with his hollow emotionless voice. The he raised his katana, and brought it swiftly downwards.

Just as Wade's katana was about to connect with Random's head, the head split like an amoeba. With a sickening SHCHLORRP sound, Random's enitire body split apart and came back together like silly putty. The katana caused no damage whatsoever. The mutant hitman just grinned. "Aww, you're no fun. Hey Kid! CATCH!!!" With his one arm still embedded in Wilson's torso, it suddenly became elasticlike and tossed the DeadMan over Random's shoulder, on a collision course with Johnny. * Trainer was not impressed with the Johnny Storm. Even with his powers, Storm was still thinking like an immature brat, and not like a soldier at all. If he was up against a real threat and unable to flame on, Trainer highly doubted the kid would survive.

Johnny looked over in time to see the blade of the dude’s weapon sinking into Wade’s stomach. He made a face. “Aw man, that’s just wrong.” And he continued to wipe the goop off of him in hopes that he could flame on.
“Flame on.”
Sizzling and popping noises, but like a car on a bitter cold day, he just couldn’t get started.
Wade made a counterattack, his knives slicing through the weird morphing dude without doing any damage whatsoever. Great. Just how was he supposed to fight an armed guy who didn’t seem like he could be hurt by weapons?
Sure, he had some Defender training, but...oh what the Hell. Might as well try.
Bending down, Johnny grabbed a stick and a handful of dirt. The dirt he threw into the guys’ eyes. “Sticks and stones, bro.” Then he swung the hefty branch at the guy’s head.

Slipping through the underbrush, a creature not much bigger than a turkey kept its nose close to the ground and moved on two legs with a sinuous kind of motion that began at the tip of its nose and spiraled out to the tip of its stiffened tail. It was surprisingly quiet for its size, and very adept at tracking prey.
Which was what it had been doing for some time now.
At first one of them, and then followed by another that didn’t quite smell fresh. The last one had appeared suddenly, but the Raptor didn’t seem too concerned about it.
He wasn’t the only one on this hunt.

A hand curled around the muddy mouth of one Johnny Storm pulling him down quickly into a deep underbrush. The young woman tackled him to the ground quickly putting a finger over her mouth to shoosh him before he gave away their location. Slowly, the feline took her hand away from his lips and proceeded to delicately point her finger in the direction of the bushes across from them about fifty yards. Two heads were sticking out and Sam could hear the spine tingling purr of their hungry mouths ready to pounce on their prey.
What Sam didn't know was, there was another one.
The decoy.
((OOC: I hope this is ok, but I couldn't pass this up ;D ))

(OOC: The more the merrier!) The hologram Random looked around, dumbfounded and confused. Somehow, the tossed deadman had missed the kid and dissappeared. The kid had disappeared. And he was standing all alone in the clearing now. The voice he spoke with then was not his, but Carolyn Trainer's: A.K.A. Doctor Octopus, Field leader of THE DEFENDERS. "Okay, looks like the fun's over." Random dissappeared in a flash of light and was replaced with a small swarm of robotic "bees". The hologram bees rearranged themselves into new form, and became a perfect hologram duplicate of Trainer's image. "You can all stop hiding now." She shouted. "It's me, Trainer. I was just testing out some hologram tech, pretty cool huh?!"
