Through fog and mist, through barriers undetectable to even the most sophisticated technology there was a land. A savage land. A land that time forgot.
This was a land inhabited by ancient creatures, thick skinned giants whose roar could shake a man’s very bones. They roamed free among vast, humid jungles where fruits and vegetation grew wild and unpolluted. The air was hot, almost unbearably so by midday, and insects swarmed upon every living creature they could locate.
It was a land like no other, but in the centre of this land was an area like no other around it. It was a deep valley where the great beasts dare not enter. While the suffocating heat made the air shimmer in the jungles, it was nothing but crisp and cool within the valley, much too cold for the pestering insects. This was the valley of The Goddess, and while the entire savage land was under her protection, the valley was under her control.
A tribe of Natives dwelled there, their skin dark and weathered. Their main goal was to serve the Goddess, for while she was happy, they were protected. They never had to worry about drought nor, while they stayed within the valley, about the heat or insects or the carnivorous beasts that ruled the surrounding land. But if she was angry…
Intruders.
Trespassers.
Their lives were not so easy. When the Goddess had learned of the outsiders that had invaded the land, she had been furious. She hadn’t learned of their presence right away, but when she did she wasted no time revealing her presence to them. Throughout the day the temperatures reached record highs, the humidity in the air making it so thick it was almost liquid. But at night she focused a cold spell just upon the little village they had erected, careful not to affect the surrounding areas.
This was only the beginning.
