Samantha was usually very assertive when it came to do doing things on her own despite her father's warnings. The drive to help all those innocent people to have a better life was her main goal. The prophecy she wore around her neck symbolized something, something she knew was about to come true. What those words engraved on the small stone that hung around her neck were still bits and pieces of a puzzle that Samantha was trying to place together most of her life. Each word had to mean something. A good place for the feline shape shifter to go and be alone and meditate even more was the place she was meant to be in her transformed state. It was a place she felt safe despite all the wild creatures that loomed around most bushes.
The jungle was her home away from home and the breeze waving through her brown locks sent a refreshing scent up the nostrils of this young woman. Apparently, the weather HAD been better away from the village and Sam had an inkling that it wasn't some phenomenon. It had to be done by something more powerful, more beautiful. The shape shifter didn't hold anger against whatever force was behind this, she actually found it intriguing, but yet very frightening.
The walk she had embarked on led her to a stream. The water flowed gracefully and clearly down the small crevice in the ground and sparkled its way to the rocks and river ahead. The trees were whistling all around her while the birds of the air sang their song in their nests. It was something almost out of Snow White, however, Sam was far from the fairest one of all. And surely her prince charming was no where to be seen. And certainly, there couldn't be an evil wicked witch out to kill her, could there be?
((Open to anyone I suppose who would have a reason to be here?))

As if to answer her unspoken question the peaceful jungle around her suddenly erupted with noise as the ancient winged creatures that took refuge there gave startled cries and took to the skies, their large wings sounding like the beating of drums.
Then there was silence as the humid air suddenly grew increasingly colder with each passing second. The steady flowing stream began to crackle and crystalize as the temperature continued to drop. Soon enough the flow ceased completely as the water froze solid, the sun shining upon it making it shimmer and sparkle, but giving no heat to thaw it.
In the dead silence, the lonely warrior was more alone than ever.

The ignition of wings beating against the air gave Samantha a startled jump. Her heart probably skipped a few beats as the warrior’s feet firmly planted in the ground defensively. Arms were outstretched but shaken from the sudden forge to the sky by the creatures that were lying so peacefully in their nests singing the song of love to their unborn children.
It was then a chill ran up the mutant’s spine and around as the wind picked up. The brown locks swirled near the sapphire eyes of the feline shape shifter, as the breeze around the air became a brisk, almost eerily cold. Staring down at the water before her, it began to solidify slowly acknowledging the guess that Sam was not alone in the jungle. Her parents always spoke of a goddess that ruled the nature and land and even though the young woman was only three when told the stories, they never left her heart. The water was now a beautiful sold blue with white streaks as the sun rested its gaze on the icy surface. But the air continued to become frigid, icy and almost unbearable. Sam reached her hands over her arms and rubbed them to try and keep warm while small white droplets of snow were beading her body and hair.
She was definitely not alone.
Dropping to her knees, she lowered her head in submission. Plus, the curling up of her body added what little warmth she had left. If this continued another form would have to commence only for the sake of her survival. It was a shape she was not looking forward to taking.
“Please oh beautiful and wondrous goddess of nature to all that is in this land, what may I do to please you?”

Through the silence the spoken words were heard but not understood. They were uttered in the language of the outsiders, a language that the Goddess had no use for. If they wished to speak with her they would speak her native tongue.
If they wished to survive they would understand it.
Though a physical presence remained concealed, a strong, booming voice seemed to fill the still air around the kneeling woman. Although it was only a single word, one spoken in the language of the valley, understanding didn’t make it sound any less terrible.
-“LEAVE.”-

The one thing about Samantha Carter that her father detested but was probably part responsible for was her stubbornness to do things when she felt it was the right thing to do. The native tongue of this land was imbredded into her blood, but she wasn't sure if she could remember anything. The tribe that place the amulet around her neck with the prophecy spoke of it in their native tongue which she remembered word for word.
<Into the valley of the goddess The one will lead them She who belongs to none must bury them all>
Sam said this with a shivering voice as the coldness continued to swell through her blood. Her lips were nearly frozen and her ears and fingers numb. In a desperate attempt to just stop the goddess and plea for her people, she tried in their native tongue to speak.
<Oh goddess of the land, forgive my ignorance>

This one was more intelligent than originally given credit for. She recognized the odd weather patterns as something unnatural and was already bowing before the wrath of the Goddess. But the more troubling part was that, not only did she speak the language, she knew of Destiny’s words.
Words the Goddess loathed to hear. Words that sparked both fear and anger within her. The urge to end this pitiful creature’s life right then was great, but although that would leave a message for the others, it was probable that the meaning would not be understood.
The temperature stopped falling.
<Ignorance is no excuse, intruder! Deliver a message to your people. They are not welcome here! Leave immediately or the consequences will be dire!> the almost unearthly voice boomed from the heavens. Without awaiting an answer, it soon became obvious that the presence was gone. The cold became warm, the ice began to melt and soon the small stream would flow freely once more.

The coldness subsided and the young mutant was able to stand once again, but she refrained from it as an honor to the goddess she was trying to talk to. It was obvious, she was angry and she didn't want her there, but what else was Sam to do. She had to try.
Sam lowered her head in submission. It wasn't what she wanted to hear. Lifting her head and staring into the sky, she began to speak, but the weather had returned to normal. Sam was alone.
"But we have no where else to go", she whispered.
