It did his heart good to see those Inferiors treated like that, so much so that a nearly giddy grin crossed his face.
Every flatscan killed by his order, or better yet by his hand, was one step closer to eliminating the Resistance. Even seeing a headless holograph crumple to the ground made his heart sing.
Objective Completed A computerized voice droned as the hard light holograms shimmered away.
"Mallone, you are a credit to this unit, and Summers.....well done.." Samuel stated, banishing the violent grin from his face, "Fantastic work"
She really was, and as Samuel often thought, it was a pity about her choice in significant other.
And Summers was finally starting to do as he was told. It was too good to be true.
He'd cut back on the praise for a while now though, these two had probably had enough of it to last them a week.

Deefer faded into sight even as the holographic head disappeared from her hand. She repressed the urge for a triumphant grin and instead nodded at the commander. "Thank you sir, I try." she replied sincerely.
Sometimes, Deefer wished she was the sort of person that could get away with doing little dances of joy - because that was the sort of thing praise from Commander Guthrie made her want to do. But, it was because her job was her life, and by that same token she just wasn't the sort of person to do that - even if there was a little mental Deefer doing a triumphant conga round her brain. That very thought nearly made her lose her composure, but instead she just shook her head, banishing the idea with a faintly bemused expression.
"Good training." She observed clinically, "A pleasant work out."

The massacre was brutal, and Scott found that despite himself he honestly couldn't bring forth any feelings of remorse. It was a combination of things that contributed to this, some of which he wasn't even aware existed. Mainly it was because humanity had made him suffer for so very long. Before the war there had been far too much suffering because of what humanity thought and wanted.
Seeing the holographic image, no matter how grotesquely realistic, slump forward into a pool of blood without its head didn't bother Scott in the least. What about the mutants he'd known to be lynched for no reason whatsoever?
In that he definitely agreed with Magneto.
But he accepted the Commanders praise with only a slight nod of acknowledgment. It hadn't been good work, not on his part. Parts of it were precise, and parts of it were luck. His timing had been off. It very easily could have gone the other way.
It wasn't perfect.
He wasn't perfect.
Scott cleared his throat as the simulation dissipated. "Yes...well, I better be..." He looked up at the two of them wishing he could enjoy the moment, but knowing it was impossible for him. He was at least three moves shy in every training session. It never seemed to work out right.
Something was holding him back, and he couldn't figure out what it was. He just knew something wasn't right.
"Commander," he said with a nod. He zipped up his bag and headed for the door, nodding at Deefer on the way.

"Summers." Samuel replied, as his Corporal left.
It had been a great work out, that was certain, but the adrenaline was making Samuel itchy.
Basically, in the most primal sense, he wanted to smash something.
He turned to Mallone, and asked "I was going to cue up a heavy support program, you're welcome to train with me if you like Mallone..."
He walked back over to the terminal and entered his access code. He looked over to her, expecting a prompt reply.

Deefer nodded back to Scott as he left, almost turning to leave herself when the Commander turned to her. There was the slightest of smiles on her face as she nodded "Yes, Sir, I think I will join you."
It had been, as she said, a 'pleasant' work out, but not much more, more stealthy than strenuous, and though that was just as valid a training exercise, she liked to keep her skills well-rounded. This exercise she expected would be strenuous - though she was tough, there were difficulties inherent with being so small that limited your capacity for brute strength, and with Guthrie's powers being so offensive, it was likely that this would be a difficult exercise. Not that she intended to shy away from the challenge in the slightest.

Samuel merely smiled, knowing full well that Deefer Mallone would not back down from a challenge. Of course, the simulation he had planned was...a bit jarring.
Sometimes it gave Samuel the creeps. And he was the one who requested it's creation.
"Mallone...do you know why it is imperative that we defeat the Resistance...?"
He spoke aloud; "Guthrie protocol, #412519-611920"
The familiarity of the sequence said volumes. Samuel ran this program many times, sometimes twice a day. It served as a good reminder of why he did what he did.
Then the room began to change, from shining metal, to a dark, dingy ruin of civilization.

"To protect the homo-superior, Sir," she stated almost instantly "And maintain the world that our Lord Magneto has built." Textbook answer, but one that Deefer threw herself behind wholeheartedly. It wasn't that she believed it, specifically, although she did fight for peace - whether that was under Magneto's reign or not was only decided by the fact that it was Magneto's army she fought for - and she did believe, in a vague sort of way, that they were 'higher up' on the evolutionary chain.... She just found herself comfortable in a military environment, and SHIELD were the best, so she fought for whatever they did, and that was enough for her. Apparently it was enough for her superiors too, as she'd never been visited by the Hounds or Ms Frost.
She moved into a fighting stance, looking around the new scenario warily, it wasn't one she'd seen before, so she was alert right away.

Samuel smiled, and nodded.
"You see this...." Samuel said, spreading his arms wide, gesturing the scope of the simulation, "Top military behavioralists and scientists worked on this simulation alone..."
A ruined civilazation. Factories belched thick black smoke into the sky. A layer of dirt and grime coated everything. Yes it was top of the line.
He looked back to Deefer. "Don't you recognize it?" He laughed cynically, "You see it nearly everyday."
An orange glow surrounded his fist as he turned, then punched into the side of a ruined structure. The wall fell, revealing a dilapidated, vandalized, statue. Lord Magneto.
He bowed to it, and looked to Deefer.
"This is Castle Magnus." He said simply, "If the inferiors win."

The sound of brick and mortar raining down onto dilapidated automobiles and asphalt rang hollowly through the empty streets. A fine misty rain began falling in response, washing away the grayish dust and steadily growing heavier as the moment stretched on.
And then in the recesses of a darkened building two glowing red eyes appeared far up toward the ceiling. Sensors stretched out over the street as the great machine began to awaken.
Slowly the Sentinel turned its head toward the two mutant signatures, viewing them from behind several layers of metal and brick as easily as if they were in the room with him.

Don't you recognise it? She frowned, was she supposed to? You see it nearly every day. But there was nothing this... her train of thought was effectively derailed as the commander revealed the defining feature, the reminder of what this simulated world once was. The Japanese woman was, for once, totally shocked. "kami-sama..." she breathed, shaken by what she saw. It wasn't the thought of the fall of homo-superior that shook her, although that certainly was a troubling idea, it was the idea that this place, this disgusting image was what awaited the world if they should lose, if they should fail. She shook herself out of her daze, steeling herself again, pushing away how troubling seeing this was and focusing. There was an enemy here, and she would be ready.

A perfect reaction from Mallone.
"You see Mallone, the reason humanity is our enemy is not because of their..inferiority..." Samuel stated, calmly standing as they viewed the apocalyptic landscape, "But because of what they are capable of...."
He motioned to the ruins of the castle, although the wreckage was severe, it was painfully apparent that Samuel's words rang true.
"There is no creature alive with an equal capacity for sadism and cruelty than Homo Inferior..." Samuel continued, eyes narrowing with righteous fury, "Historical documents prove this beyond a doubt, as well as the first hand experience of those unfortunate enough to be born into Inferior homes."
Samuel knew all too well how sadistic a human in power could be. He still wished he could find his father...so he could kill him.
"And if they gain the means to overthrow us, we will be wiped out. Completely." He finished, motioning again to the statue, "You, Orion, Anna, Myself...all gone..."
"There is nothing crueler than a human. They will use our weapons against us...and wipe out every last man, woman, and child, all for their own gain."
"In fact, it has been hypothesized that they will make use of the Sentinels we use to hunt them first....or worse..."

Deefer listened to his words silently, though she'd managed to regain her composure enough to not let her usual stoicism slip, there was something in her eyes that suggested the scenario, the things he said, were definitely getting to her.
She was a soldier, however, and despite the emotional impact of his words, she took the information she was given critically, and made her own deductions. If it had been hypothesized that the sentinals would be used... this entire scenario was a hypothesis, which meant... "Should we be expecting sentinels then, sir?" she asked, looking once again around the holographic scene - this time searching for sign of the fighting robots.

No sooner were the words out of the unknown mutant designation's mouth than the wall of a nearby warehouse exploded outward. Large sheets of metal whipped through the air toward the two intruders, and two by fours cartwheeled off to the side.
As the dust settled the Sentinel peered out of the building with two glowing red eyes. The war was long over. Mutants were supposed to be eradicated. Once the orders had been to capture and detain, but long before the Sentinel had slumbered that order had been changed...
"Mutant. Designation. Unknown.." It focused then on the other. "Mutant. Designation. Sam. Guthrie.."
The current orders only left one recourse.
"Destroy. All. Mutants.."
The booming voice filled the streets from more than fifty feet off the ground.

Even though a building had suddenly ceased to exist, Samuel Guthrie could only grin.
Right on schedule.
"Answer your question Mallone?" He replied, "More will be en route soon, so I suggest you listen very closely to me..."
He took a fighting position; "How well do you know our own weaponry?"
A silly question to be sure, most grunts had no clue how the Sentinels worked. Samuel only knew because he had forced an engineer to explain the damn things to him.
"The Omega Class Sentinel's only weak areas are it's joints...." He said, staring the mammoth creature down, "Knees, elbows, neck...the armor is weakest in those areas..."
He was nearly ready to blast off, so he offered a supportive grin.
"You ready?"

That answers that question...
She nodded at his explanation, joints...check... "Yes, sir." she said softly, eyes trained on the glowing points of light that told her the sentinel's position.
Was she ready? In a combat situation she would have to be ready, and these simulations were as close to reality as they could be. This would really test her skills. Invisibility wouldn't work against them, they probably sensed her in other ways. Anybody with her mutation could pull off stealth, this was where things really got tricky. She didn't even have any weapons on her.
"Sir," she said quietly "My offensive skills are minimal against an opponent of this size. I think my skills would be better employed as distraction from your offense."
