Deefer headed back to the barracks after a long training session, looking forward to an evening of relaxation.
Some of her colleagues probably thought she lived for the job, like even when she had time off she was training, and she hated to rest.
This was only half true. She enjoyed her job, a lot, and she enjoyed training, but it was nice to relax - besides, if she didn't rest she'd wear herself out, and that would be no good.
Yea, Deefer Mallone wasn't obsessed with her job at all...
There was one thing that surprised everyone though, and that was her boyfriend, people didn't expect her to have one.
Though they all agreed that if she did, he'd definitely be a colleague, and they were right.
Her footsteps towards her own dorm took her past Kenny's, and she stopped, knocking on the door to see if he was around.

Kenny heard the door knocking and got up from his bed, "Hang on a sec" he said as he head towards the door to opened and to his surprise it was Deefer his girlfriend and fellow SHEILD Member. "Deefer, what's up?" he said

"Hey." She smiled slightly, leaning against the doorframe "The usual, just on my way back from training, I thought I'd stop by and say hello." she explained with a shrug.
It was a fairly common occurance, since his dorm was between hers and the training room, she'd often stop by on the way back.
Sometimes, though much less frequently, she'd stop by on the way and ask if he wanted to join her, but she much preferred to train alone.

Kenny noticed Deefer shrugging and was a little perplexed. "Where have you been Deefer you look a little exhausted?" Kenny asked

Deefer raised an eyebrow at him. She must have woken him up, he seemed a little slow today.
"Training, I just said." She reminded him, smiling a little "Keep up."
She worried about him sometimes, he needed to train more, to try harder to improve himself, or he'd never get the recognition he so desperately wanted.
"What've you been up to?"

"I was just sitting here after following procedures by the boss, It made me a little wiped, I think Guthrie is starting to really treat me as if I don't exisist" Kenny said as he was shaking a little

Deefer nodded "You should train more." she offered.
Sometimes she sounded cold, but really she was just trying to be more supportive in the only way she knew how. "Stop worrying so much about what he thinks of you and just try your best at your work, that's the best way."
She was about to add 'it's what I do', but she didn't think it would be wise to remind him that she gets more recognition than he does.

"Well, right now I'm stood here, talking to you." She teased with a faint smile. "But..." she shrugged "I'm not sure, I didn't have anything planned for this evening. What are you doing?"
She hoped he did take her words to heart, it wasn't just that she wanted him to do well and get what he wanted, but also the more he trained, the safer he was when things got hairy in a fight.

She nodded. "Well that's not very exciting." she smiled.
Stretching slightly, she yawned "I might end up just crashing somewhere with a book or the TV or something." she admitted "Pretty strenuous training exercise today, I'm fairly tired."

Kenny began to noticed that Deefer was a little exhausted and began to feel a little concerned for her. "Why don't you relax and have a cup of water or something to help you feel better, I myself am probably gonna go hit the hay myself I'm a bit tired from doing all the marching around and learning about who to strike I feel like I'm gonna crack any second." Kenny said as he felt a little drop of sweat coming down his head.

She laughed slightly. "Baka." she scolded softly, there wasn't really any feeling behind it though, other than fondness "You should have said sooner, go get some sleep."
She was more concerned about him than herself - even though she'd pushed herself pretty hard in training today, it wasn't something she was unused to.
Leaning forward, she kissed him on the cheek "I'll leave you alone to rest."

As Deefer kissed Kenny on the cheek he felt a little happy for she really cared for him and knew that he will make it somehow. "Thanks, see you later I guess." He said as he slowly closed the door and plopped down on his bed as he began to sleep.

After he'd closed the door, she headed off down the corridor with a faint smile on her face.
She was glad Kenny hadn't seem too troubled that she got more recognition than he did, she knew it hurt him but she wasn't going to hold herself back just because of that - still, it made her feel a little guilty, sometimes, when he so desperately wanted approval...
She shook her head, pushing the thoughts aside, and headed off for some well needed rest.
