Given Name: Katherine “Kitty” Pryde
Codename: Shadowcat
Age: 18
Detailed Description of Powers: Can make her body, and anything she is touching, intangible. This allows her to pass through solid matter, and for objects or weapons to pass through her body without causing her harm. While “phasing”, Kitty is still susceptible to psionic attacks, and can only move through an object as long as she can hold her breath. She can also destroy electrical systems by phasing through them, and has the ability to walk on air while intangible.
Originally from: Deerfield, Illinois
Known Family: Carmen (father, divorced), Theresa ("Terri," mother, divorced)
Physical Description: 5’-6” tall, 110lbs, with brown hair and hazel eyes
Other: Intelligence is at genius levels; has a purple stuffed dragon named Lockheed
Bio: Kitty Pryde had a normal life and a normal family, though she was far from normal herself. Due to her extreme intelligence, she was able to skip grades in school, and didn’t get the highschool/prom experience that most teenagers did. Her parents often fought about what they felt was “best for her”, which eventually led to their divorce. Unlike most mutants, Kitty’s powers didn’t emerge until late in her childhood, and she has only been dealing with them for a few months. Knowing how different others treated her because of her intelligence, she was afraid of how they’d react to this new development, so she kept it a secret. But one can only make excuses so often about how they fell through the floor, or moved objects through solid matter.
Eventually, Kitty sat down and spoke to her parents about her abilities, and they were able to reach a decision they were both happy with: they would send their only daughter to Xavier’s School for Higher Learning, where she could get help with her powers, and lead as normal a life as possible.
But as fate would have it, Kitty found herself in one of those “wrong place at the wrong time” situations. No sooner had she reached the Institute than was she mistaken for an X-Man, and captured by SHIELD.
