Given Name: Sally-Anne Webster
Nickname: Sal
Codename: Chameleon
Age: 21
Detailed Description of Powers: Sal can blend in with her background by changing her skin and hair, making her near invisible.
In that special X-men way, she can also extend this power to things and people she touches (i.e. like Kitty can phase her clothes and other people, Sal could make them blend as well)
The more complex the background, however, the harder it is for her to blend. If a background is completely plain, she can become practically indistinguishable from it, but the more complicated it gets, the easier it is to spot her.
Also, rapidly changing background make it more difficult.
For example, if she’s running and trying to blend at the same time, she’ll be easier to spot (unless there’s no change to the background, if it’s just a plain corridor she’s running down for example).
Changes in lighting etc she also finds it hard to cope with. It’s near impossible for her to blend in strobe lighting, and when somebody first switches on a light in a room she takes a few seconds to adjust.
Originally from: Louisiana
Known Family: Mother (Maria Webster), Father (Colonel Jonathon Webster)
Physical Description: Tall and slim, with waist length brown hair and green eyes. Usually seen wearing black baggy jeans, a white tank top, green army jacket and dogtags.
Other: Sal is an easy-going girl, she believes in working hard and training, but in playing hard too. She likes to be in control of her life, and has never been much of a follower, unless she really believes in a cause, or respects who she’s following.
She also doesn’t set much store by rules, especially if she can’t see the point of them, so she’s not the most law-abiding of people.
She's also a brown belt in wado-ryu karate, and a black belt in both jo jutsu and sai jutsu (that's using a jo staff, which is four foot, and sai - which are what Elektra uses)
Bio: Sal was born to a career-chasing mother and an absentee father (he was often away doing army work), and grew up in the care of a nanny, whom she loved dearly. When she was ten, however, her parents decided to send her to boarding school. She had to say goodbye to her carefree life, and the only stable person in it (the nanny), and ended up in a very strict school in California (her mother having decided her daughter must have the best, and so sent her to the best, despite the distance).
Sal was quite a lonely girl at school, finding the majority of her classmates to be too snobbish and high-flying. She often got in trouble, constantly breaking rules about dress code, curfew and a number of other things, as well as getting into fights with her fellow students.
She did have a few friends however, who thought like she did and were only there because of their parents, and together they had quite the little gang, all of them troublemakers.
It was at boarding school that her mutant power became apparent.
She hid it from everyone, and began practising control of it, in secret, never telling a soul.
When she was 16, she left the school, and her friends, and went back to Louisiana, starting a regular high school, her parents judging her able to take care of herself when they weren’t around.
She became quite popular, once she’d got back into the swing of things, since her life at the boarding school had been quite sheltered, she hadn’t been up to date with popular culture.
Her cheerful, daring way gained her a lot of respect, especially when she pulled pranks on the teachers.
The teachers didn’t mind her either, despite her occasional rule breaking, because she got her work done and she was a bright and able student.
It soon became the best few years of her life.
After high school, her father decided she should follow in his footsteps and join the army, which she did. However, their strict and ordered ways didn’t sit well with the party girl, and after only a year she split, much to her father’s disappointment, and went her own way.
Luckily, she was quite well catered for, her parents were quite wealthy and she left with a healthy bank balance and her own car. Her parents had decided to let their wayward daughter go, and had given her the car and money both to make sure she’d be ok making her way in the world, and as a silent agreement that this was the end. They had never really had time for a child, they shouldn’t have had one in the first place, and they had never formed emotional attachments. They had expected a child to almost bring themselves up, to be perfect and brilliant beings to follow in their steps and do them proud. Sal hadn’t lived up to their expectations.
