It felt like it lasted forever. It felt like it lasted only a few seconds. The passage through the M'Kraan Crystal made Blink feel like she'd been pulled to pieces and put back together again. She just closed her eyes and endured until the portal spat her out at wherever it was the Crystal decided to put her. It was all she could do, and she wasn't even sure if it would decide to spit her out at all.
She appeared about six feet above the ground in the middle of the food court. The lavenderskinned mutant fell and landed on a table, unable to focus enough to blink herself to the ground safely. She just lay there for a few seconds, stunned and hurting.
"Ngh."
That had hurt. A lot. She managed to prop herself up on one hand, sitting up and looking around. The people looked...let's just say that shocked was an understatement for the expressions on their faces. Blink stared back defiantly as one hand crept to her quiver.
Well, this definetely wasn't home. No way that this many flatscans would look wellfed and happy around Apocalypse.
"Mommy, she looks like an elf!"
Blink turned her head to glance at a small child who looked simply awestruck. The mother was less impressed.
"She's a mutie freak."
"And you're a flatscan, obviously," Blink snapped back, feeling very irritable as she ran her hand down the side of her uniform and it came away sticky with blood.
"Dammit. One of Poccy's boys musta clipped me before I blinked..."
She swung her legs off the table, supporting herself with her javelin. She had to get out of here. She concentrated on blinking out, and then felt panicked when she didn't move. No, oh no... Glancing around once more at the people in the foodcourt, she had a feeling this could get very ugly, very quickly...
"FREEZE!"
She turned and looked in surprise at the blueuniformed men. Who were old and fat. She dismissed them with a casual shrug of her shoulder.
"Oh, go away. You couldn't take me on the best day of your lives, humans. Go and do something more constructive, 'k?"
I sacrificed more or less everything so these guys could leave in peace and harmony? I got screwed.
"I said, freeze, mutant!"
"And I said, GET LOST!"
Blink swung as they tried to come up behind her, dealing hard blows with her javelin as she used it like a quarter staff. Not willing to kill the people she'd spent most of her life working to save.

Once she'd knocked the overweight security guards out, Blink leaned on her javelin to catch her breath. Pain throbbed sullenly through her side from the gunshot wound, and blood dripped steadily down her leg onto the ground. The patrons of the foodcourt had retreated to the sidelines or left completely. It hadn't taken very long for the mutant to put the mallcops into unconsciousness so no one had moved very far.
She drew herself up and ran a hand through her hair, before grabbing a heap of napkins off the table next to her. The terrified teen girls there shrank back, and Blink smiled grimly as she pressed the paper to her side to try and stop the bloodflow.
"What're you frails looking at? Got yer eyeful of the mutant yet?"
She was tired, in pain and confused. It didn't make her mood very friendly, nor willing to put up with much stupidity. She leaned over the table and put her face up close to one of them. Her white eyes gleamed.
"Boo."
The girl whimpered and shrank back into the seat. Blink snorted, ripping off a length of her tunic and making it shorter so she could bind the makeshift pad to her side.
"You flatscans are so weak and pathetic...if I can scare you, I'd hate to see what you'd do if you came face to face with Mr Creed."
She ripped off another ragged length, tying the cloth tight around her middle. Summoned her energy for another blink, and sighed as once more, she went nowhere.
"Dammit."

The sound of his roughly clapping hands drew the girl's attention toward him.
"Bra-vo, darlin'....y'put on quite a show", he said with a chuckle and a grin.
He sat alone hunched...crammed, really...into a nearby booth, his feet kicked up onto the opposite seat. He had been watching the girl's arrival with more than a little amusement anyway, but hearing her call the frightened teenagers 'frails' and then refer to him as though she knew him was just too much.
"Y'obviously heard'a me before...what're you?", he asked with a laugh. "Don't tell me...yer my fan club...right?"

Blink's head turned, and she grinned slightly as she saw him.
"I try my best, Mr Creed."
She skirted the unconscious mallcops to come and stand near Creed. Her eyes searched his face carefully, and she tilted her head to one side, running the point of her javelin along her jaw.
He doesn't remember me...Bishop said things would be changed, but I'd still been sorta hoping...
"Call me Blink."

As she stepped closer to him, "Mr. Creed's" eyes moved across her. Head to toe and back and they weren't in any hurry. He took in a breath through his teeth.
Eventually, his gaze found her eyes.
"Blink", was all he said to her. It was not, however, what he did.

Blink's pure white eyes met his squarely. Never back down. Don't look away. Stand your ground. Lessons that he'd taught her, repeatedly until she got them right.
What she wanted to do was look around at this new world, see what had changed. But if she dropped her eyes, he wouldn't respect her. And she had to have that, if nothing else.
"Didn't think I'd see you in a place like this, really."

Surprisingly respectful, dangerously impertinent and more than a little intriguing.
And, oh yeah, easy on the eyes to boot. Creed decided not to take her presumption personally.
"Man's gotta eat", he said which was only half the reason he was there. "I could be huntin' somebody." Which he could be. But he wasn't.
Well....no one in particular anyway.
"Sorry if yer expectations're disappointed.", he grumbled.

Blink wondered idly if he could smell his scent and Kyle's on her underneath the blood. Probably not, otherwise he'd be asking more questions. She glanced around at the humans, and raised an eyebrow slightly.
"Don't look like people here would be much of a challenge to hunt. Less'n they've got some...hidden qualities they ain't showing yet, besides the tendecy to cower. Huh. Guess that ain't changed."
Her eyes travelled back to Creed's.
"No, not disappointed. You seem to be mostly the same, Mr Creed, which is a relief."

Creed listened to what "Blink" said to him with eyes that were wide and a jaw that made him look as if he might be just about to say something.
When she finished speaking he remained that way for a few long seconds.
Then he smiled.
"Darlin'...", he said through his grin. "I got no idea what yer talkin' about..."

"It's complicated," Blink said, watching him.
"Ever heard of a mutant called Apocalypse?"
He's going to think I'm insane. I don't know how well I can handle that. He saved my life and I've saved his numerous times over, and he doesn't even remember me. Because it wasn't this him.

"Not that I know of...", Creed responded with a shake of his head. "Should I have?"
He was beginning to think that Blink might be even more messed up than he was, but he was enjoying the view and he was amused by her so he smiled and indulged her.
"Have a seat, darlin'....tell me all about it." He slid his feet off the opposite side of the booth to allow her a place to sit.

"It's probably a good thing that you haven't, trust me on that, Mr Creed," Blink said, sliding into the seat he offered her.
"Thank you."
She looked around at the mall food court.
"They don't see mutants often, I'm guessing?"

Creed's eyes scanned the room and then narrowed questioningly at her observation. He looked back at her.
"Where you s'posed ta be from?", he asked.

"The last time I was in this mall, the counters were smashed and there were wild dogs roaming through it," Blink mused, looking at the humans who were still staring at her.
"I'm from a future that'll hopefully never happen. As long as Charles Xavier lives, it won't happen. I think. Bishop didn't explain it fully, and I don't think Destiny saw everything...and you think I'm crazy," she said dryly, looking back at Creed.
"Well, can't say I didn't expect it. You're not one to believe things just on someone's say so. Even if..."

Creed's eyes were wide and almost completely without comprehension. His head started to hurt.
"Darlin', I'm gonna need a drink.", he said after a few seconds. "An' I think you could use a couple yerself...."
He let her unfinished sentence hang there. He was determined not to make his head hurt any more by asking her what she meant. He didn't need to know, he was sure it was just going to make things worse.
But it started to dig at him.
"Even if what?", he blurted.
