Wow! I had no idea about Anne, that's so awesome!! (I don't keep up well with stuff like this, though I'll deff have to look for the book next time I hit the family christian store) I'm really happy for her, although I think you're right about the train wreck. Hee Antonio doesn't quite fit any of those descriptions but he's still pretty to look at....and thus your point is made about them just wanting to be able to say 'Antonio Banderas' in the credits.

I don't know if her Jesus books exactly fit into what's in the Christian bookstore. Have you read any of Stephen Lawhead's stuff? The Merlin series he wrote is pretty well done.
Antonio is awful pretty though. XD Have you seen 13th Warrior? On the case his name is almost bigger then the title...

I'll admit I don't venture out much in my reading, I tend to stick to Tolkien, Lewis, and Carrol.. I'm just a kid trapped in a 'technical' adults body. Frank Peretti's The Oath is one that I've read at least 8 times, I enjoy his earlier work, some of the new books are a bit off from what I'm used to.
My current read is Children of Hurin, and after that I want to finish Phantom of the Opera (I started it but got side tracked by the Tolkien-ness) I also read Star Trek novels a lot....and comics...and yeah, basically, I'm a geek.
Also yesh!! 13th warrior is love XD and Antonio is such a nice..nice thing. I really want to do things to his voice.

What's wrong with kids' books? I just finished the Peter and the Starcatchers books - along with a long overdue reading of the book they prequel-ize - the original Peter Pan.
Very cool stuff.

If you're a geek, you neeeeed to read Terry Pratchett. Discworld is made of pure win! And Neil Gaiman. I'm a voracious reader. In fact, I need another bookcase. The two I have can't hold all my books anymore. They're kinda piled up on the floor.
I actually like the Vikings around Antonio in 13th Warrior better lol. Like Bulvei, and the short blonde guy with a beard.

Also I agree there is nothing wrong with kids books. Some of my best reads are kids books. Like Susan Cooper, and Dianne Wynne Jones, and Lemony Snickett...

I liked 13th Warrior, but undoubtedly for different reasons than the two of you did. I also liked the book - Eaters of the Dead - and I thought it was cool what Michael Chrichton was trying to do in retelling Beowulf. He was one of my favorites. I'm still sad he's gone.

My Aussie friend has been pushing me to read Pratchett for a long time xD I just always resist when I am constantly told to read/watch something. You should have seen what it took for them to make me watch Doctor Who....(which I now love), I'm surprised restraints weren't needed. Gaiman is a genius and should quite possibly be elevated to God status in the geeky writing realm, and though I haven't read Sandman, I can vouch that 1602 is pure brilliance, he can write my comics anyday.
As for the kids books, I couldn't agree more ;D I think I've gone through the Narnia series 7 times.. I should really read it again.
edit:
Crichton was absolutely one of the best writers of our time. The fact alone he gave us Jurassic Park makes him my idol. I really enjoyed Next, and have the audio book of Prey (which it totally awesome) I just try not to think about the fact he won't be writing anything else new. ):

*holds up sonic screwdriver*
Should we ever have an attack of Daleks, I stand ready!
And as for Lemony Snicket... why wasn't that written when I was younger? I would have totally gotten a bucket load more AR points in school.

I have the whole series. I love it!
You know I share a name with one of the Doctor Who companions? It's true!
I kinda miss old school Who. What with the tumbling fake rocks, and cans on strings... XD But I'm nostalgic anyway.

I wish I did ): but I do like my name regardless.
I am being nagged to watch the 5th doctor by my same Pratchett friend, she's rather in love with him xD

I can't remember the last time I watched TV. DVDs, sure. TV? Nah. So I've missed the new Who series more or less. I don't know what they're going to do when the Doctor's regens run out though.

DW is like Bond, The time line doesn't matter so long as they can find a pretty new face when the previous gets too old or dull.
(Did I mention I <3 Bond? .. any or all of them.)
