Christine silently entered the kitchen, her hair damp from waking from a harsh nightmare. She rubbed her arms through the sleeves her light rose nightgown. "Just a nightmare, baby girl," she whispered to herself. "Same one you've had every night."
She closed her eyes and took several deep breaths, trying to find her calm point. Focused once more, she wandered about the kitchen, looking for a can of coffee and her well hidden, in way towards the back coffee mug. Smiling slightly, she found both parts of her quarry and started to make herself a small cup of coffee.
She sat down in a chair and leaned against the table, watching the coffee slowly drip down from the top to the pot.

Taela sighed, sliding into a chair in the kitchen. "I am so bored now. The stars are clouded over and everyone is asleep."

"Not everybody is asleep," Christine said quietly. She sighed softly and rose to retrieve her cup of coffee. "Coffee?" she offered. "It's not the best, but it'll do."

"No thanks. Got any Chai Tea?" Taela said. She stared longingly out the dark window. "And here all I wanted was to watch the stars....."

"Think there might be some in the cabinet. Professor Munroe usually keeps the tea chest well stocked," Christine said quietly, sipping her coffee.

Taela got up and began rummaging. "Lots of herbals here but I don't see any....oh! nevermind. Found some." Taela said as she pulled out a shiny tea packet. She filled a teapot that was sitting out and started heating it.

She sighed softly. "I miss the close brother sister bond Scott and I had. We joined during the same time. 'Course, he was a teenager when we found him and I was the tag-along ten year old who didn't want to be left behind." She laughed softly. "I got such a lecture from Daddy about coming along on missions when I was just a little waif. And he wasn't thrilled that I tore apart my pinafore to help Scott."

Taela smiled. "Scott? Oh, yes, I know who you mean now. I haven't actually met him, but I've passed him a couple of times as I slipped around in the shadows. He's rather oblivious to the world, isn't he?"

"That sounds about right," Christine said, smiling and shaking her head. "He also has a stick up his ass the size of Texas." She laughed softly - she always teased him about that, but she understood the reasoning behind it.

"That sounds interesting. He's kinda cute, too. It's been a while since I've had a boyfriend."

"He's supposedly dating or wanting to date Jean but, I don't know. I'm not too fond of her - but what do I know? I'm just the annoying "kid sister"," she said, sounding a tad bitter. She huffed. "Once she's in the room - good bye Leader of the X-teens, hello hormone boy."

"Hey, why so bitter? Besides, I think it'd be funny to see him go to mush. Do you know how much you can get a guy to agree with you when he's like that! I got a car from a guy once that way." She smiled at the memory. "Although I did give it back. It was a piece of crap."

"Because he forgets I exist when she walks into the room," she pouted. "I'd like to be able to talk to my brother before he goes brain dead."

Scott couldn't sleep.
Hank had looked him over earlier and proclaimed nothing life-threatening was inflicted on him, but had ordered him to immediate bed rest. He also used the old "take two of these and call me in the morning" line...
His painkillers had begun to wear off, and between the resurgence of his aches and pains and the barrage of information he had been presented with at his arrival, it was too much to relax and go to sleep.
He reached on his nightstand and shook two more horse pills from the container Hank gave him. There was no way he was swallowing these things without something to drink, so he slipped on a pair of sweat pants and an old t-shirt and padded to the kitchen.
He was surprised to see the light on, and low voices coming from the kitchen. Happily, though, he could smell coffee.
Could definitely use some of that. Might clear my head.
He entered the kitchen and was surprised to see Christine sitting at the table, along with another young woman he didn't recognize.
"Oh. Hello, Christine. Couldn't sleep either, huh? Who's your friend?"

"This is Taela," Christine said, immediately turning pink since she and Taela had been talking about Captain Oblivious just a few moments ago. "She just joined."
She was tempted to remind Scott that she made coffee like her mother - but the old habit of playing pranks on big brother was all so tempting. "I just made a pot of coffee... You're welcome to it." She had to keep from smiling her "I'm about to prank you" smile. She also had to try and keep herself from laughing.
