"It's not what it sounds like," Christine protested. "All we've done is snuggle and kiss. That's it and G rated snuggling to boot. Kurt and I could have passed for a Disney film we were so bloody innocent." Why did Scott make her feel like a little kid?

"Uh huh. Have you seen what they're putting in Disney films these days?" Scott growled, still appearing not convinced.
In truth, he trusted the both of them, but it was still fun to rattle her cage sometimes.
"So do I need to start standing outside your door with a fire hose, or what?"

Christine pouted. "You're being mean to me," she muttered, crossing her arms over her chest. She resisted - just barely - the urge to stick her tongue out. She hadn't done that since she was ten. "Sides, I haven't threatened you with a fire hose for when you stare like a besotted mooncalf at Jean."

Scott cocked an eyebrow. She had him there.
Change the subject...
"So. Ahem. Uh, what else has been going on this past week?"

"Training, training, and wait, more training," Christine said, rolling her eyes ever so slightly. "Of course, then there's silly little me who's been running herself into an early grave." She sighed. "I've been doing danger room sims with Logan, running danger room sims for the younger students, doing my homework, helping the younger students with theirs, and having Dr McCoy run various tests to see how strong the bond between Phoenix and myself is. I'm completely worn out."
She paused a moment and laughed. "I also found an old photo album." She was highly amused by some of the memories. "Remember how I used to sneak along on those missions?"

Scott shook his head and rolled his eyes.
"I still can't believe you would do that. Logan and Ororo would be furious. And for some reason it was always my fault for not keeping you out of trouble."

"But it was so much fun to sneak on those missions," Christine said, smiling. "'Sides, I found you on one. Remember?" She laughed. "'Sides, why should the adults have had all the fun?"
She sobered a moment. "Exactly, how much trouble did you get in because I snuck along?"

"Oh, not a lot. But it was still my responsibility to watch out for you."
He refrained from using the phrase "keep an eye on you." He wasn't going to make it that easy for her...
He smiled at her as he took a sip of coffee. "Besides, it looks like you made it okay, despite your best efforts at getting yourself hurt."

"Hey! I didn't do that so I could get hurt! I was bloody bored half the time. I thought you were supposed to play with me since I was the younger sibling," she pouted slightly. She smiled. "What was your favorite moment during our childhood at the school?"

Scott chuckled.
"Well, I suppose there was that mysterious rash of thefts that only targeted my visor and glasses. I remember I was pretty cheesed off at the time, but looking back I suppose it was pretty funny watching me stumble around with my eyes closed, shouting 'I'm gonna kill you!'"

"You know you could have taken my pinafore and shredded it for bandages to wrap your eyes," she said. She sipped her coffee slowly. "I still want to know how they knew to give you ruby quartz."

Scott shook his head. "I wish I could tell you. The Professor just seems to know all, sometimes."

"True," Christine said, smiling. She looked over at Scott. "I'm sorry for getting you in trouble when we were younger."

"It's nothing to worry about," Scott reassured her. "That's what little sisters are for."
He paused for a moment. "I suppose I should apologize too. For not letting you grow up."

Christine looked up at him. "I've done a lot of growing up while you were gone, Scott. A lot of growing up." She looked into the distance. "I was worried about you, and wondered where you were." She bit her lower lip. "Scott... I never want to play leader again so you better stay."
