Lilandra finally reached earth and landed not that far from the school. She silently wished for her sister's, Cal'Syee, wings with which she could fly to the mansion and not have to worry about walking.
Several long, painfully long hours later, she finally arrived at the school, still clad in her uniform, her helmet on. She paused a moment before knocking on the door to remove her helmet and shake her "hair" free.
"Phoenix... I'm sorry," she whispered, and knocked on the door. Tears streaked down her face and she roughly brushed them away with the back of her gloved hand. Soldiers didn't cry.
She waited a moment and knocked again. She had to remember her manners - and not kick down the door...

Following the little scene with Logan and Storm in the Danger room, Gambit was just on his way back upstairs, when he heard a knock at the door. Looking around, he saw no one else in the immediate vicinity.
Well, at least Guido finally got dat door fixed.
Walking over to it, Gambit opened the front door to discover an unusual woman, holding what seemed to be a strange helmet in her hand.
We get all kinds aroun’ here, don’ we?
“Bonjour! What can I do fo’ you?” Remy said, trying to sound cheerful and polite.
Why’m I playin’ de X Men’s butler, anyways?

"My name is Lilandra Neramani. I am, was, the Grand Admiral of the Shi'ar Empire's fleet. I've come here... In search of Phoenix," she said, her holding her helmet close to her body.
'I just hope I can convince Phoenix to come... And to not bring these others. It'd be too dangerous for them..'

Gambit looked at the newcomer in sheer disbelief, before bursting out laughing.
“I seen dat movie, chere! Ain’t you spose ta be wearin’ a black helmet, an’ speakin’ all deep, like dis?” he said, trying to do a Darth Vader impression with his last few words. Seeing that the woman didn’t find him at all amusing, he sobered up.
“Phoenix? You mean like de bird?” he asked, pretending to think hard. “Nah, can’t say I seen any o’ dose aroun’ here. T’ink you got de wrong house.”
With that, he moved to shut the door again. The very presence of this person set him on edge.

"Do not mock me, human," she whispered in a hiss. "I've seen too much, split too much blood that yours would be of little concern for me should I be forced to spill it." Her free hand shifted to her laser gun that she kept active at all times.
"Phoenix is a child of sixteen, with brown hair and blue eyes that turn gold when using her gifts. I know she is here - I have seen her."

Gambit narrowed his eyes at Lilandra, as they began to glow softly.
Okay, so mockin’ de alien not be de best plan. But dere ain’t no way I’m lettin’ her get ta Chris…
“Is dis Phoenix expectin’ you, cause I don’ see your name on de guest list,” he replied in a low tone, making sure to block the open doorway with his body.
“Now, if you’ll excuse me, ma mere always tol’ me not ta invite strangers inta my home. So eit’er go back where you came from, or try back later.”
Christine had sensed something off at the front door and had come down to see what was going on. "Remy?" she asked as she approached the male mutant. "What is..." her question died before it left her lips as she stared at Lilandra. "You..." she whispered, before her legs gave out from under her.

"And nice to see you too, Phoenix," Lilandra answered dryly. "She knew I was coming so I don't understand why she reacted like that."

Hearing Christine’s voice behind him, Remy froze.
Merde… o’ all de times ta show up…
Before he could slam the door in Lilandra’s face, and get Christine out of there, she saw who was at the door. Turning to look at her, Gambit was just in time to see her eyes roll up into her head. Forgetting the visitor for a moment, he quickly reached out, and caught her before her body could hit the floor.
Turning his gaze back to Lilandra after her comment, Remy glared.
“I don’ know, but she obviously ain’t happy ta see you! An’ if you t’ink you be getting’ any closer ta her, you got anot’er t’ing comin’!”
"And what do you plan to do?" Lilandra asked, stepping inside regardless of the fact that she's angered the Cajun mutant. "Phoenix, we don't have time to play games. D'ken is nearing the M'Kraan Crystal."

Christine stirred and sat up slowly, holding her head. 'You, out of my head,' Christine snapped at Phoenix.
'Would love to - but we're linked, remember?'
'Daam!' Christine thought. "I have to protect my family. They come first."

Gambit stayed crouched next to Christine, as she sat up, and spoke to Lilandra. Glaring at the intruder, he had a handful of cards ready, in case the whole scene turned ugly.
“So you wanna talk ta her, petite, or should I show her how we get rid o’ unwanted guests on dis planet?” Gambit asked Chris, though his eyes never left Lilandra’s face.

"I might as well," Christine said. "She did come all this way to find me." She slowly stood up - her legs a tad shaky. "All right, Lilandra, why now? My family is about to be attacked and you want me to abandon them to go save a Crystal."

"If D'Ken gets that Crystal, you won't have a family to protect," Lilandra countered. "You're the Guardian - you have to protect!" She was shocked that this slip of a girl was trying to keep Phoenix from protecting the Crystal.

"I'm not your puppet!" Christine snarled, her eyes turning gold. "My concern is for my family. My duty is to protect *them*. Once they are safe *then* I will worry about D'Ken. Not a moment before. Understood, Lilandra Neramani? Not. A. Moment. Before."
