"Are the lives of the few, your family, worth the lives of countless billions, Phoenix? Answer that *if* you can," Lilandra countered. She was not about to let the Phoenix forget her duty.

Phoenix's mouth dropped open when she saw Lilandra lead her into a word trap. 'Daam, how do I help both my family and all those people...' she thought, closing her eyes. "You're asking me to throw away the lives of my family if I'm not here to help them by leaving to save lives of people I've never even met!"

Lilandra's hand shot out and slapped Phoenix, hard across the cheek. "You have a duty to more then just your family," she hissed softly. "You have to protect the universe whether you like it or not."

Guido heard the ruckus in the foyer all the way down the hall. He growled under his breath. He KNEW someone was going to break the door again...
Stomping towards the foyer, he was brought up short by the sight of Gambit and Christine in a heated discussion with an exotic-looking woman. She looked human enough, aside from the odd uniform-type clothing she wore, but there was something - otherworldly - about her.
He was about to make a cheerful and disarming remark concerning the door's integrity, when the stranger reached out and slapped Christine across the face. Normally the idea of a catfight would be funny to Guido, but that rubbed him the wrong way for some reason.
"HEY!" he bellowed.
He stomped to the door and towered over the newcomer.
"If that's tha way they shake hands where you come from, I can't wait ta shake yours," he said, cracking his knuckles.

"Stay out of this, human. This is between me and the Phoenix. She needs to learn that she's needed elsewhere - she can not stay forever with you," Lilandra hissed, her eyes narrowing ever so slightly.

"Ah, save it, Spock," Guido snorted. "She ain't goin' anywhere. Leastways, not till you relax a little and talk some sense. But I CAN guarantee ya this one. Hit her again and I'll stick that helmet in places you didn't know you had."

"My name is Lilandra Neramani. I am, was, the Grand Admiral of the Shi'ar Empire's fleet. I've come here... In search of Phoenix," she said calmly. "I don't have time to play games. My brother D'Ken has almost found the M'Kraan Crystal.

"Uh-huh," Guido mused.
He recognized the name M'Krann from the psionic slideshow Christine showed him earlier.
It's really happenin' then. It's fer real. He sighed, and deflated a little.
"Well, uh, Admiral. Don't just stand there in tha door, come on in. Maybe you guys should siddown or somethin'. I'll, er, see if I can round up tha Powers That Be here, they'll probably wanna hear this."
He opened his mouth to attempt to say some pleasant nothing, but finally just shut his mouth and stepped aside.

Christine shook her head, trying to clear it. Her cheek stung where Lilandra had hit her. Metal gloves *hurt* like hell. "Ow," she whispered, wincing. "Okay, okay, I got the idea. Go stop D'Ken, but my family *needs* me."

Lilandra nodded and stepped inside the building. She shivered for a moment - not used to the open space all that well. Her hand rested on her laser gun, ready to use it a moment's notice.

Gambit had backed off a little as Christine agreed to speak to Lilandra. But when the conversation came to blows, he instantly stepped in front of Chris, just as Guido appeared, looming over the much smaller woman.
But when Guido actually invited the visitor in, he turned to the big man in surprise.
“You’re lettin’ her in? She smacks Chris aroun’, an’ you invite her in?” he asked, incredulous.
She may have some fancy story cooked up, but dat don’ mean I’m gonna trust her.

"Remy? Can you get me out of here for a few hours?" Christine asked. "I need some air." That and a nice stiff drink. I hate not being allowed to drink. I'm from Europe where the water's shite and we're allowed to drink.

Guido closed the door behind Lilandra, and grimaced as he noticed the bolts in the hinges wobbling loosely. Uh-oh.
He noticed Lilandra's eyes darting about, taking in the unfamiliar surroundings and scanning for possible threats with the practiced ease of a combat veteran. He also noticed her hand resting easily on her holstered weapon, but the muscles in her arms were tensed.
Yikes. Nervous people and guns don't mix.
"Hey, listen there, gunslinger. No need to get worked up, nobody's gonna hurt ya."
This comin' from tha guy who threatened ta jam her helmet up her...

"My brother wants me dead and you tell me to relax," Lilandra asked, arching a thin eyebrow. "I have to be ready at moment's notice to fight to defend myself." She tilted her head. "And to think mere moments ago you threatened to shove my helmet in a space not intended for it."

Guido winced at the rebuke. "Heh. Yeah. Sorry."
He glanced at Gambit. "Hey, crawdad. Ya think you can take Chris out for a sniff of air? She can explain this business better than I can. I'll keep an eye on Wyatt Earp here."
