"All I'm saying", Henry said as he unlocked the Professor's study, "is that he deserves to be heard."
"No one is asking you to go along with anything you don't agree with.", he said to Logan as his teammate followed him into the room. "I will be the first to say so if I think he is wrong."

After the incident in Ororo's room, Logan was in more of a foul mood than usual. Crossing his arms behind Hank as he opened the door, Logan said, "I got somethin to give him he deserves and it sure ain't my ear." He cracked his knuckles and mumbled a string of swear words that would make a sailor blush.
The two of them strolled into the Professor's office and his mood temporarily changed when he saw the empty desk. "Man, I'm so used to seein Chuck sittin back there with his cueball head and all." He sighed.

"His presence is definitely missed.", Henry agreed.

"It most certainly is." Magneto had come in behind them. It seemed that a look passed between Beast and Logan that suggested perhaps they were talking about something he should not have heard.
"Do not worry, I only caught what was said just now about Charles." He looked at the empty desk with genuine thoughtfulness and then around the room in admiration. "He is a very great man, Charles Xavier. That mind of his is razor sharp." Passing Logan he looked down at his hands, "Like your claws Wolverine." This earned him a sneer.
"Ororo is on her way down as we speak." That comment almost earned him an attack. Logan seemed to be fighting the urge to unleash on him.

With a look from Beast, Logan stepped back and shoved his fists into his pocket. That man is gonna push me too far! He huffed over to the couch and plopped down into it, taking his hands out of his pocket and crossing his arms angrily.
"Well I hope she gets here soon, I ain't gettin any younger!" He muttered a few things under his breath and took to studying his fingertips to avoid the looks he was getting from Beast and Magneto.

Storm walked downstairs, with her head held high, towards the office of Charles Xavier. Stopping just outside the door, she hesitated. She had not set foot in this room since her departure months ago. She half expected to hear the professor’s voice in her head, asking her to enter, upon which she would be greeted with his smiling face.
But not this time…
Taking a deep breath, Storm entered the room, silently closing the door behind her, before turning to greet the other three occupants.
“I am sorry for my lateness,” she said, but didn’t offer up an excuse. Glancing around, she saw Beast and Magneto were looking in her direction, but Logan was looking everywhere but at her.

Magneto just nodded at her. “You are not late at all, Ororo. We have only just arrived ourselves.” He gave an unreadable look to Logan and then went around to the other side of Xavier’s desk, making a point of not sitting in Xavier’s seat, he pulled another chair over to him with his powers and sat at the right hand side of it.
“I am sure you have all heard the rumors floating about, ranging from ridiculous to hilarious.” He smiled a little. “Just to set the record straight as we start this little meeting, I am not here to try and take over your minds in an elaborate plot to rule the universe.” He sobered a little and looked at Xavier’s empty chair. “And I would never try to take Xavier’s place.” Looking back at them he finished his thought. “All I want is to help fill the gaping hole that you all feel from his absence. I have already discussed this with Henry as well as Ororo.” He leveled a look at Logan. “And now I am laying it out for you as well Logan. I made a promise to Charles that I intend to keep. I will lead these students as he would lead them were he here.”
Logan’s eye’s flashed and he was growling a little deep in his throat, but he didn’t say anything. He could see Ororo looking at him but he refused to meet her gaze.
There’s no way you could take Chuck’s place anyhow!
He brought himself under control somewhat and looked over at Hank. Logan preferred if somebody else did the talking here. He didn't have anything good to say.

Henry might have allowed himself reservations about what Magneto was saying and put up some resistance, but it was clear that there was more than just the obvious playing into the tension in the room and so he felt himself cast by default somehow as a voice of reason.
"You solicited our attendance for some predisposed rationale, Erik. Perhaps you should elucidate."
He paused, feeling pleased with his diplomacy and glanced at Logan who glowered back at him looking more than a little angry.
Henry's smile fell. He swallowed and looked back at Magneto, then turned back to look at Logan. He held a hand near his mouth and leaned forward conspiratorially. "I said he should speak up.", he whispered to his teammate in explanation. Feeling as if he had fixed the problem, he sat back and smiled again at Wolverine before turning his attention to hear what Magneto had to say.

“Right you are. The reasons I have called us all together are manifold. I just wanted to clear the air of the rumors before we began. But let’s get right down to it.” He paused for a minute to arrange his thoughts and then continued.
“I believe the time has come to launch a preemptive strike against the Sentinals before they coordinate an attack against us. I have it mapped out to where we can do the most damage with the least amount of…danger to the team.” Sensing a tension rising in the room he elaborated a little bit. “I suggest a small strike force, no more than three or four soldiers, and the mission will be really quick. Just go in, attack and get out.” His face went stony as he waited for a response from the solemn bunch.

"By splitting the team", Henry said with concern, "don't you give them the opportunity to strike while we are divided? It happened before - and we are nowhere near ready to defend ourselves here."

Magneto nodded solemnly. "This is something I have considered Henry. The chances of the Sentinals striking while the team is away are fairly minimal, particularly if they are being attacked from within. My hope is to create an urgency in them to defend-but you have to remember that they are machines. That is why I have chosen a specific location to strike."
He paused for a moment before adding, "The strike will not last long, and I do not believe I am placing the rest of us in danger. Consider this a blitzkrieg if you will."

Before anyone else could say anything Logan barked out "Im goin!" His arms were folded across his chest still and he just looked directly at Magneto.
Give me a chance to get away from here for awhile. Besides, sounds like a pretty decent plan. He would never admit that part aloud. Beats sittin around here anyway!
And it'll gimme a chance to tear sumthin up!!
He could feel Hank and Ororo staring at him, and returned their gazes with a look of granite, not explaining himself at all. Turning back to Magneto he said. "But I want to pick the crew that comes with me."

"I have definite reservations about this endeavor.", Henry remarked with a scowl. "If this is our chosen course of action then it is paramount that we maintain strong leadership here. We cannot entertain putting the students at greater risk. If something happens here we will need all our efforts to keep them safe. If Logan and his team are not present should problems arise here....or worse -- if they are injured or captured during this strike...." He let his thought trail off unfinished.

“Agreed.” Magneto said in response to Henry’s objection about the mission. “It is paramount that we retain strong leadership here at the mansion. However, given the choices before us I also agree that Wolverine is the optimum choice for leading this venture. That leaves you, Ororo, and myself as leaders here…and I had heard there was a woman known as Psylocke who might qualify as a leader.”
He steepled his fingers in front of his face, propping his elbows on the arms of the chair. “The alternative is to wait for them to strike us here in full force.” Shaking his head he said, “I fear that would not go well at all. Many of these students would likely die. My way would significantly reduce the Sentinal army if carried out properly, and give us a much better chance on the homefront.”
Noticing that Ororo was deep in thought, Magneto turned the spotlight on her. “What are your thoughts on this matter Ororo?”
